Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,The new year at Learning Gate Community School is about to kick off, and I’m excited about all that’s to come. Last year, during my first year as elementary assistant principal, I really enjoyed getting to know the students and watching them grow in so many ways. I want to take a moment and brag:The Florida Department of Education school grades are out and Learning Gate has earned an 'A' rating. For that we can credit the spectacular staff, stellar students and dedicated parents who make up our Learning Gate family. We are dedicated to maintaining the unique, world class education that Learning Gate has always been known for!
Now, on to the new year!
Staff has been working hard this summer to create some great enhancements and changes to the school. For example:
Dress Code Changes- Students will be able to wear PE uniforms to school on PE day and won’t have to change into school uniforms.
- In response to parents, we have altered the shoe policy. Students must continue to wear black, brown or white shoes, however the soles do not have to be the same color as the shoe and an emblem is acceptable.
Lunch Program- Our lunch program will have students focused on using reusable containers and little or no waste.
- We will begin our first full year of a free and reduced lunch program.
- Big plans for Chef Jill’s kitchen are closer to reality.
After School Activities- This year we will continue to have a wide and exciting variety of after-school clubs- yoga, cooking, movie-making and karate to name a few. Information on after school clubs will be available during open house
Memberplanet for Online Student Registration
Member Planet is now in place, allowing our families to register online and us to go paperless- right in line with Learning Gate’s green mission.

Online registration for the Fall is mandatory for all new AND returning students. This will give us the information we need to communicate with your family more effectively this school year.The steps are easy:

Step 3: Complete your packet all in one sitting. It's best not to stop and restart.
Teacher Enrichment and Campus Upgrades
Teachers have been busy this summer immersing themselves in environmental workshops, so they will have plenty of activities and lessons to share with students. Walls have been painted, carpets replaced, curriculum ordered and events planned. We are ready to make this a fun- and educational year!To quote many of you from our June communications survey: "Too many places to check for information!" That's the overriding message we took from your June communication survey results.
This year we are attempting to streamline our communications, and one big part of that plan this year is a new interactive online calendar. Starting this school year our new calendar will be used to publish all important dates, events, meetings, reminders, activities, you name it! You can even click on any event and download it to your smartphone calendar.
Click the link above and bookmark it to your smartphone or PC and you are one click away from staying in the know about Learning Gate events and activities!
The different event colors on the calendar tell you the intended audience for the events. 
Weekly LG e-Newsletters Are Coming Your Way! Starting this year we are turning our monthly newsletter into a weekly e-Newsletter. If we don't have anything to report for a week, we'll save you the trouble of reading by not sending it out! Our goal is to provide a rolling list of reminders about important news and information for our Learning Gate family. We also want to open it up to all of you to provide content that from all of you! If you have something that you would like to submit for the weekly newsletter you can email it to newsletter@learninggate.org and our newsletter team will get in touch with you if we have questions. Feel free to send pics (with parents permission), links, share stories, or just brag about the wonderful things are students accomplish over the course of the year. You never know when you might pop up in the newsletter!
Open House SessionsSchool supplies may be brought in on during the Open House sessions(paper towels, printer paper, etc.). Rember to download your Open House session(s) to your smart phone from our online calendar for your own personal reminder!
