RESULTSBROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's swimming and diving team lost a 178-112 bout to Brockport on the road Saturday afternoon. With the loss, Oswego moves to 1-5 on the season while Brockport improves to 3-1.
Oswego's
Maya Kaplan got the Lakers off on the right path early with a first-place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle. The sophomore dominated the event, finishing her event nearly 20 seconds faster than any other swimmer.
Kaplan wasn't done, however, as she continued to swim hard. The Fair Lawn, N.J. native claimed six points after earning third place in the 100-yard breaststroke.
The Lakers owned the 500-yard freestyle, as
Emily Burton and
Kaylin Luhrs took the top-two spots. Burton earned first-place honors and a final time of 5:38.90 with classmate
Kaylin Luhrs finishing in second place with a time of 5:53.03.
Sabia Filiaci had another impressive performance in the water on Saturday, edging out a Brockport swimmer for first place in the 100-yard butterfly. The senior claimed 11 points for the Lakers with a final time of 1:01.93.
Oswego will be back in the water for the Monroe Community College Invite at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5 at Rochester.
