Well, here's something that should be completely unsurprising to anyone who has ever used social media before. Shortly after the Purge 2: Anarchy account got #TwitterPurge trending, one account, called SCV purge, started tweeting out pictures of nude, underage teens using the hashtag [via The Daily Dot.

The hashtag's creators promoted it as a way for users to "purge" controversial opinions or secret crushes. But SCV Purge (which likely stands for Santa Clarita Valley in California) used the opportunity to shame local high school girls in what amounts to revenge porn (which is illegal in California, even if this wasn't also child pornography). Even though the original account was shut down, copycats quickly popped up on Facebook and Twitter posting nude photos that may or may not have been taken with the permission of the subject. By the end of the weekend, the hashtag was filled with unauthorized porn.

The LA police detectives on the case say Twitter had been very cooperative with the investigation, but the nude photos are still rolling in.
