St. Johns County students named National Merit Scholarship semifinalists

St. Johns County students are among the 16,000 students nationwide who have qualified as semifinalists for the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program. Officials recognized high school seniors who scored the highest on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test and met the program's requirements.
Semifinalists are now eligible to compete for one of about 8,000 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $35 million, according to a press release from the Florida Department of Education.
"I am very proud of our students for being nominated as National Merit semifinalists. I am especially appreciative of Florida's teachers who have prepared them for postsecondary success," said Commissioner Pam Stewart.
