WACO, Texas — Baylor’s 2016 football game at Rice has been moved to Friday, Sept. 16, to accommodate a national telecast on ESPN at 7 p.m. CT, the Conference USA office announced Wednesday.

The two schools, former Southwest Conference foes, will meet for the 81st time this fall at Rice Stadium. Baylor leads the long-time series 48-30-2, including a 26-20-2 record in Houston.

The game against the Owls is one of five road games the Bears will play in 2016. Baylor will host six games, including Homecoming on Oct. 15, in its beautiful McLane Stadium located on the Brazos River. A 12th regular-season game, the annual Shootout vs. Texas Tech, will again be played at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Dates for games are subject to change for television purposes, and kickoff times will be announced at a later date.

Baylor finished the 2015 season ranked 13th nationally and as Russell Athletic Bowl champions (49-38 win over No. 10 North Carolina), its school-record sixth straight bowl appearance. The Bears have won a Big 12-best 50 games over the last five seasons, including two conference championships and three bowl wins.

The Bears signed a top-20 ranked recruiting class this spring and open the 2016 season Sept. 3 at McLane Stadium (vs. Northwestern State).
