Taking Control

Rate this book
I thought I needed only one thing in my life--the money and power to crush one man. But the moment I laid eyes on Victoria Corielli, my thirst for revenge was replaced by my craving for her.

No rule would keep me away; no obstacle too large to overcome. Not her will, not our differing social positions, not my infamous past. When she lost everything, I helped her pick up the pieces. When she trusted me with everything, she sealed her fate.

I've convinced Victoria she can put her heart in my hands. Now I have to protect it--from her shady stepfather and my business rivals, from enemies known and hidden. I'll do anything to keep her. And I might have to prove it, because now Victoria''s risking more than her heart to be with me; she's risking her life.

About The Story
____________________________________________

Taking Control, picks up right where Losing Controlleft off. Ian and Tiny (Victoria)are comfortable in their relationship together, although Tiny does second guess herself every now and again. Ian is deeply in love and possessive of Tiny, to the point of him not really caring about the revenge he sought in the last book. Tiny feels as if Ian is giving up too much for her and is dead set on helping him achieve his previous goals, before she came along. Ian has many enemies, ones he isn't even aware of, and these enemies are willing to destroy everything that has made him into the man he is.

1. His fortune
2. Mostly importantly, Tiny Corrieli

My Thoughts
____________________________________________

Gosh, I really don't want to give this book a low rating especially after having read an erotica and loving it. But the main reason Taking Control didn't work for me is sex. Sex for the first 30% of this book had me on my last nerve. Now I did question myself, "Christine, WTF?" and it all comes down to expectation. Obviously this isn't the first book I've read by Jen Frederick and it won't be my last. But I've come to expect, more story, slow build intense scenes and yes really steamy sex scenes. But for some reason when I started reading this book, Ian seemed like some other unknown character. He speech was way too formal, his dirty talk was over the top, and then he said this:

WHAT THEE FUCK, IAN???

I had to put the book down, and trust me it was a good decision. From about the 35% mark I started really getting into the story, thank goodness! I honestly don't know what happened but Ian went back to being his old funny, intense and possessive, sometimes a jerk self. Suspense, mystery and intrigue played a major part in this book and I was on my toes till the very end. This review sounds very negative, right? Trust me this book was really good despite the huge stumbling block in the beginning of the story.

Lastly there were a few side characters that I loved in this book, Kaga being my favourite. I really, really want his story and I really hope the author is planning on writing his story soon!

Taking Control starts where Losing Control left off. Tiny and Ian are together. Their relationship is in a good place but they're facing outside threats from their pasts. For Tiny, the threats come in the form of Mitch Hedder, Tiny's stepfather. For Ian, the threats are coming from all sides. Richard Howe is still taunting Ian and there's also another threat on Ian's business. The story isn't as compelling as the first simply because I consider this one as a "tying all the loose ends" type of book, but it doesn't mean it wasn't enjoyable because it was. In fact, one of the biggest reason why I enjoyed this was Ian Kerr. We finally get to read his POV and what a POV it was.

I loved this character so much. His devotion to Tiny, his loyalty, his intelligence were front and center throughout the book. We still get to be in Tiny's head here and there but the bulk of Taking Control's POV comes from Ian Kerr. I'm not very into uber alpha, possessive hero but Jen Frederick might have changed all that because Ian Kerr owns me. I loved how possessive and alpha he is. He's the ultimate fantasy guy: handsome, obscenely rich and most of all, he's 110% into the heroine. Really, what's not to love?

Another element I really loved about this book was how the readers get to see Ian in his element at his job. You know, doing things billionaires do. I appreciated how the author wrote finance aspect in this book. It was very interesting and not boring at all. One of the most exciting moments in the book involved Ian trying stamp out a financial crisis involving his company. It was exciting -- well, at least to me it is because I eat this stuff up. True story.

I liked how everything was handled at the end. Of course, there were plenty of Ian and Tiny moments, which was very sweet and hot. Ian's devotion and love for Tiny shines through in the book. Tiny for her part was adjusting to being with Ian. I just love it when a couple you're rooting for don't succumb to unnecessary drama or God forbid, create one. It wasn't all hearts and flowers for them but it wasn't all out drama llama either. It was just right, IMO.

Overall, Taking Control is a solid sequel to Losing Control.

*re-read WOW, WOW, WOW!!!!!! This book blew me away. If you want a book with a soft spoken timid hero who is all about looking to the heroine for advise and letting her lead this is NOT the book for you, now if you are looking for a book with a POSSESSIVE hero who takes control and who's whole world revolves around the love of his life and will do ANYTHING to not only make her happy but to protect her, smoking hot sex scenes, revenge against those who have done the hero/heroine wrong then this book right her is your book. It will blow you away it will make you want an Ian of your own and make you hate everyone who drags you aways from this book even for good reasons like feeding your kids.

I have to say that I haven't come across a hero like Ian in a long time, we got to see some of who Ian was in book one but with Taking Control we see it all hang out. I loved Ian's point of view in this book. Ms. Frederick did an amazing job with this book. She wrote Ian so well. I guarantee he will be a hero you won't soon forget. This was the perfect conclusion to Ian and Tiny's story. Yes you could only read book one of this series but you would be missing the privilege of Ian if you do. This is without a shadow of a doubt one of the best second books in a single character series I have ever read.

In book one Ian and Tiny found happiness neither thought possible, even after loosing Tiny's mom they both found love and acceptance in each other and though Ian was going to let Howe and his revenge go Tiny couldn't let him. Now in book two Tiny is beginning to heal after her mother's death, but the revenge Ian has waited years to fulfill is now on both Tiny and Ian's mind. When Tiny's stepfather gets thrown in the mix Ian will do anything to keep Tiny safe from the man who left her mother and Tiny.

As Tiny and Ian move forward with their relationship and plan their future together, someone from the inside is trying to tear Ian down. Now not only does he have to make Howe pay but someone he trusted for years. When other's think they have finally ruined Ian and Tiny they both release their plan of revenge so that Ian can finally be free from the pain of his mother and father's death. And Tiny and Ian can finally have the happiness they both so desperately want and need to share with each other.

What can I say I loved this book, there wasn't anything not to love. Ian yep loved him, Tiny why wouldn't I love her. I loved to see her growth and strength in this book she grows so much in this book and I couldn't not be proud of her and love her more. Ian's friend um yes please. Revenge oh yeah when someone wrongs the characters I love I am out for blood and obviously Ms. Frederick agree's with me on this one *yeah*. HOT and I mean HOT bedroom scenes (though lets be clear the aren't all bedroom) yeah lets just double and maybe triple check that one.

I loved book one, it was so different, especially the character from what I normally read and I loved it because of that but I never could have guessed book two would have been all it was and it really was something. Bravo Jen Frederick for this insanely awesome book. * Just a side note I need more Ian's in my books. Could I have loved this book more no I could't have!
*thank you Jen Frederick for the chance to beta read again for you

Title:Taking Control
Series:Kerr Chronicles #2
Author:Jen Frederick
Release date: September 16, 2014
Rating:4.5 stars
Cliffhanger:No
HEA:

After reading Losing Control, the first book in the series, it became my favorite JF book to date. So when I was able to get ahold of Taking Control, let's just say I was more than a little bit overcome with excitement.

But wait a minute, this book is about taking control...not losing it. So I got myself together.

Why do I love these books so much? Ian.

He's everything an alpha obsessed reader likes. Strong. Possessive. Protective. Obsessed. Devoted. And let's not forget, the man knows how to dirty talk like nobody's business.

...I'd pocket those wet panties and take them back to my office with me, and in the afternoon I'd replay our lunch date and jerk off into your panties until the fabric was heavy with the juices of your body and mine. Are you ready for me now?"

Oh...right. He's talking to Tiny...I knew that. Moving on.

We start off right where we left off in Losing Control. Ian and "Bunny" (as he likes to call her) have met, fallen hard, and his plans of revenge have run off track. She takes first priority over everything that he once held important in the past.

She's his. Completely. And he doesn't want anything from his enemy to tarnish her or what they have.

Tiny is the most important thing in my world. More important than revenge and retribution. Those things will only hold me back-or worse, they'll endanger the fragile future Tiny and I are building together.

He is just...perfection. As a man in his position, he wields power, immense wealth, and has a past that could cause harm to her but he does everything humanly possible to protect her from the danger. But there's one little problem. Tiny doesn't like handouts, she doesn't like charity, and she doesn't like being told what to do. She's independent, strong , and she's not intimidated by him or his take control personality. But his money and social status scares her and she has a lot of adjusting to do to get used to his lifestyle. And Ian isn't afraid to help her in that process.

She might not want my money, but she wants me. And I'm completely devoted to seeing that she is replete with satisfaction during every waking moment.

And fortunately for her, one of his favorite things about her is her ability to tell him like it is and stand up to him. Their personalities are perfect for each other.

I smile to myself. It's always a fight with her, but that's part of what I adore about Tiny Corielli. She doesn't give me even an inch.

And when the man isn't dirty talking, we're getting a peek into his dirty little mind. Because, yeah, this book is mainly in HIS POV (with the exception of one chapter). I was definitely ready to get inside that brain of his. And it didn't disappoint.

Everyone outside the office can hear, and it makes my blood pound even harder. I want to come all over her body. I'd rub it into every pore until she sweated me. Until everyone knew that she was mine. I want to be soaked into her essence until she can't breathe without knowing that I possess her.

Ian and Tiny have to resolve Ian's past in order to move on and get their HEA. He has a crisis with his company to hold off and Tiny has to find a balance and a place in his world.

I loved Ian's friend Kaga. He's loyal, funny, and he's always there for Ian and Bunny. He's the owner of the hottest club/bar in New York (among other things).

They return to the "Aquarium" and we get more insight into Kaga's history-which I must say has definitely intrigued me! I'm dying to know when we get his story!

This story is so well put together. Every part of it seamlessly done. It has passion, tenderness, obsession, love, revenge, a strong Hero AND heroine, and the ending was everything you could ask for. It's so easy to fall short with a second book and sometimes I tend to get bored with the plot. But in this case...there was one! And it was awesome! The only reason I deducted half a star is because as much as I loved this one, I debated whether it was as good as book 1, a five star read for me. And I think that book won by just a hair. This was an amazing book duo and they have a firm place on my favorites shelf.

4 - You're like a good whiskey, bunny. Each minute that ticks by makes you taste better." Stars.

Taking Control, pretty much takes up where Losing Control left off. This book is mostly from Ian’s POV, but you get a little bit of Tiny thrown in here and there. Although I really enjoyed the continuation of this story, this book almost split into two halves for me, the first half seemed to be all about the sex and Ian trying to ensure that Tiny knew how much he loved her and valued their relationship.

I’m not sure how many walls I’ve managed to tear down, how far inside the citadel of her heart I stand.

The second half then delves back into the whole Richard Howe storyline, which started off in the first book and is a huge part of what initially brings Victoria and Ian together. Tiny’s step-dad makes an appearance, as well as her step-brother Malcolm, but their involvement almost seemed secondary in this book, whereas Malcolm was very much in the forefront of Losing Control.

I’ve bought my way into her heart and life. I’ll lie, steal and cheat to stay there because nothing is worth more than her.

There is a little intrigue and subterfuge running through this installment on the Kerr Chronicles and I liked the suspenseful aspect that Jen bought in. As their relationship progresses, there are also hints of potential future stories that could be told for the secondary characters involved. I am itching to see if the whole Kaga, Jake and Sabrina teasers that Jen added will morph into a book at some point in the future as well as the indication that there is relationship potential between Steve and Lauren.

I hunger for something different now, more physical, more personal.

If you loved Ian Kerr in the first book you will love him and his POV even more in this book, I enjoyed the writing immensely, Jen has given Ian a really witty and acerbic voice/sense of humour, but he is also a guy firmly in touch with his emotions and is not afraid to talk about and express them.

I’m fucking terrified I’ll lose her and then I’ll be empty again.

It’s no secret I have a huge author-crush on Jen Frederick as well as her books. I loved Losing Control and Taking Control really offers the perfect closure on Tiny and Ian’s story. I have everything crossed that the aforementioned secondary characters in this series, actually get their own stories told. Sadly, I am now back in the position where I am stuck waiting impatiently for her next release!

She makes my world turn.

LOVED this!

There was no doubt for me before reading this that Alexandra and Ian were perfect for each other, and I feel like the author wrote it knowing that readers already knew this. So this second book in their story was more solidifying for just how good they are together. It was hashing out of the extenuating circumstances surrounding the beginning of their romance.

Tiny is still dealing with the fallout from the ending of book one. I feel for her because of the lack of support she has from the other people in her life. Other than Ian, her mother was really the only person she could turn to. She does have a friend introduced in this book, and I kind of expected there to be more to that story than there was because of Ian's distrust of her. Oddly enough, she ended up not having a lot to do with the story, so her presence felt kind of superfluous.

Ian shows again and again how awesome he is, and how dedicated he is to Tiny. Tiny got on my nerves a bit due to her mistrust of Ian's dedication. He gives her no cause for her doubt, and she just has one too many moments of freakout for me.

The ending, of course, is amazing. Total closure. Fantastic book. This author completely surprised me. I will definitely be reading more by her.

Ian and Tiny's story continues from where Losing Control finishes.

Taking Control is told mostly from Ian's POV.

Don't get me wrong I enjoyed the story and all the loose ends are tied up but Ian's pet name for Tiny is "bunny" very apt as they were always at it like rabbits and I just got bored too much sex for me. Could have done with a bit more suspense for me to keep me gripped.

4.25 "there's only one Ian Kerr" stars

Speaking of conclusions, there couldn't have been a better one than this.

Tiny and Ian's love only grows stronger, inspite Tiny's doubts of her „place“ in his powerful and rich world and subconscious insecurities about her dyslexia.
Ian is a phenomenal alpha extraordinaire, both tender, supportive attentive, caring and yet lethal and dangerous in the ruthless world of business.
And when it comes to Tiny's protection, and keeping her safe, and keeping her HIS, he's freaking wild and adamant.
I'll do anything to keep her.

He's showing her with his every look, word and touch how much he loves her, cherishes her…
She makes my world turn.

and his devotion shows no end…
I've bought my way into her heart and life. I'll lie, steal and cheat to stay there because nothing is worth more than her.

The old Ian and all the ploys, ploting revenge and merciless deals that occupied his mind got sidetracked and shoved away when Tiny came into his sight…and life.
Meeting Tiny, falling in love with her, I've realized that I'd rather look forward than backward.

And yet it all settled the way it was supposed to be....step by step
The business problems were solved, enemies were defeated, the vengeful urges got satisfied too, or so he thought…

that one only stirred more comotion eventually putting Tiny's life in danger. All of a sudden everything seemed irrelevant and minor as Ian had everything to lose and more….

and taking control over the future seemed pointless if the most important part of him, his essence isn't there, with him, beside him, in him…
I need you because without you I am nothing.

Remarkable man and even more heart-warming, sweet, feisty and brave woman will bring you to your knees with their steamy, off-the-charts passion, tenderness, love making, sincere and honest interaction and comunication, and you'll feel like you've been tossed into the most beautiful and endearing fairytale of them all.

"This I Promise You"

When the visions around you,
Bring tears to your eyes
And all that surround you,
Are secrets and lies
I'll be your strength,
I'll give you hope,
Keeping your faith when it's gone
The one you should call,
Was standing here all along..

And I will take
You in my arms
And hold you right where you belong
Till the day my life is through
This I promise you
This I promise you

I've loved you forever,
In lifetimes before
And I promise you never...
Will you hurt anymore
I give you my word
I give you my heart (give you my heart)
This is a battle we've won
And with this vow,
Forever has now begun...

Just close your eyes (close your eyes)
Each loving day (each loving day)
I know this feeling won't go away (no..)
Till the day my life is through
This I promise you..
This I promise you..

Over and over I fall (over and over I fall)
When I hear you call
Without you in my life baby
I just wouldn't be living at all...

And I will take (I will take you in my arms)
You in my arms
And hold you right where you belong (right where you belong)
Till the day my life is through
This I promise you baby…

I love Ian Kerr! He's possessive, sexy, powerful, loving, and sometimes even gangsta. Can you create a more delicious man?

I'm just a little disappointed because I was hoping this story would have more bite and vengeance. Don't get me wrong... there are some good fights in there that will make your eyes glued to the page (or screen). I will definitely read any spin off books.

Bravo Jen Frederick.

So you all know that Jen Frederick can really do no wrong in my book. Everything she writes I just fall completely in love with. Tiny and Ian's story is absorbing. Especially this book because we get Ian's POV too. I loved being in his head. This isn't a typical billionaire story. Tiny is an extremely strong women and never once does she whine even though life hasn't been completely fair to her. Although there were times where I really just wanted her to stop worrying about how equal her and Ian were, but I really loved how Ian handled all of her worries. He was very sweet. Really though what made this book for me was Ian, he is freaking smoking hot and a total alpha. I have a major book crush on him, and I'm really hoping that we get maybe novella or something to just check in and see how they are doing. I'm also really hoping Jen continues this series because I really want to read Kaga's story! I can't wait for more from this author, and I highly recommend this series for anyone looking for a hot alpha billionaire story ;)

I fell in love with Tiny and Ian in Losing Control and dove right into Taking Control. To find myself lost in Ian's head was magical. He is so possessive and sexy. I loved how his mind worked and how Tiny just meant so much to him.

My name on her lips in that breathy tone has the same effect as mainlining aphrodisiacs. My already-erect cock throbs in response. I‘m starting to believe in soul mates and life in the hereafter, because one lifetime won‘t be enough with Victoria Corielli.

His revenge plan was left behind faster than he'd have ever thought possible. It's funny that Tiny took up that torch for her man though. These two people were perfect mates if there ever was such a thing. The way that Ian loved her through the loss of mother and how he just always seemed to put Tiny first melted my heart.

His first and foremost thought was to protect Tiny and even helping her find a job where she was safe might have been easy for him on the physical level but he never wanted her to feel insecure. I find my mind is in a state of just awe because he has me swooning. I am romance reader who searches for the perfect heroes. Honest, loyal and true. Ian was all of these but Jen made him bossy and sexy to boot.

The love scenes were scorching and it was definitely a plus that Ian was a filthy dirty talker but a sweet romantic too. I was pretty sad when it ended because I simply wanted more. I can say that I was led to imagine so many scenarios of possible future story lines with the all the secondary characters that were in this series.
I adored this sexy series and find that Jen Frederick never lets me down.

STARS : 4 stars
POV: Both – But I would have to say that it was more from Ian POV
HEA:

RELEASE DATE: 18 SEPTEMBER 2014

This book starts where the first book ended. You don’t have to read the first book, but I would advise it.

This book was different from the first book, more action, more sexy time. Ian Kerr is one hot human being.

Victoria Corielli

Ian Kerr

Ian Kerr is VERY much in love with Victoria, and he will almost do anything for her. This man is just perfect, he is RICH, he is charming, he’s hot, he’s a gentelmen and like I said he will do anything for Victoria.

Before Ian met Victoria, it was just work work work for him. He only realised after he met her and fell in love that there is more to life.

With being wealthy there is unfortuanly always a price and in the process you make some enemies. Ian wants revenge but is it really worth it? Ian needs to protect Victoria against her evil / asshole stepfather and Richard Howe.

Victoria thinks she is not worth Ian. Victoria has dyslexia and she struggles to make a living. She has struggled her whole life and she think that Ian goes after her because he feel sorry for her.

I think this story has a beautiful end.

I hope Kaga gets a book, I would really like to hear his story.

FAVOURITE QUOTES / LINES

What does he see in you? I give really good head.

Play with the wolves, prepare to be eaten or bite back.

I want to fill my life with the laughter of our children rather than hate for the enemies.

4.5* and spoilers ahead

This continued from book 1 but this time we get both Ian's and Tiny's POV. As suspected he was a bit of a manwhore with one of his exes making a brief appearance. The plot carries on with the revenge with Ian finally taking action, a betrayal and a surprising twist from a supposedly fragile wife. Tiny annoyed me a bit with her refusal to see that her family were using her, her insecurity and her stubbornness but those were minute moments in what was otherwise an enjoyable read. Lots of sex in this one as Ian seems unable to be around Tiny without wanting her. Epilogue with a marriage ad a baby on the way yet still I wanted more!

In the words of Frank “I want one of you, Ian. Find me someone right now.”

Ian Kerr made this series for me, his past in the end didn't matter because I don't think I've read a !ore devoted, obsessed bbf in quite a while!

Hero - Ian Kerr
Heroine - Victoria - Bunny, Tiny

I really liked this one. I think some of the sex could have been "fade to black" because they became too much. I loved the characters, even the secondary characters. I loved the plot and the suspense. I did not want it to end. I wanted more!

Are you alpha obsessed? Do you like that take charge kind of guy who can be equal parts ruthless and tender? Do you like your heroines to be feisty, independent, but looking to love and be loved completely without being controlled? Jen Frederick’s Taking Control gives the mega alpha Ian full reign as he does the majority of the narration in this steamy, romantic read.

Tiny and Ian are definitely looking every bit the couple they are, but Ian’s wealth and power are hard for Tiny to reconcile with, that she can now do and have anything she wants, especially after all the years of struggle when her step-father left her mother and her behind to deal with her mom’s cancer. When Tiny’s past slithers back into her life, Ian will stop at nothing to keep her safe and he is determined to seek revenge. Meanwhile, Ian’s fortune is at risk when a former trusted ally tries to bring him to his financial knees. Do you really think that team Tiny & Ian would allow that without a fight? Will these two ever find that peaceful love they both long for with each other? Power, greed and jealousy surround them, will they stand as one or will they both fall together?

Jen Frederick should provide a warning label, HOT to the touch, keep smelling salts available. For as alpha and controlling as Ian is, I think he met his match in bed, on the desk, in the shower, as Tiny’s own alpha comes out to play. Thank heavens there was an excellent, well written plot with side stories to allow a cooling off period for both myself and my eReader! Jen Frederick’s imagination put into words could cause global warming!

Overall Opinion: I did it again...a .75 rating! I just couldn't quite give it the 4 stars. This was a fun read that finished up the series nicely. I liked the closure I got which is important to me (especially when there is more than one book). I liked both characters, and it had just the right amount of drama and steam IMO. I didn't like this one as much as the first book, Losing Control. I think it was nice to get Ian's POV (which we didn't in the first book), but it seemed really repetitive at some points. It seemed as though the author was trying to make up for his voice not being in the first book making him say the same things over and over (like how his life changed when he met Tiny). I enjoyed the side characters more in this one...it'll be interesting if we get any of their stories.

Storyline: This is the conclusion of Tiny and Ian's story. This book takes off where the first one ended. We have some hot and steamy times. We also deal with Tiny's family drama and Ian's revenge plot. The couple also works through Tiny adjusting to her new life . They work through it all and find their HEA.

POV: This alternated between Tiny and Ian's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Ok. Not as good as the first one. Some slow parts (it might have felt that way because some things seemed repetitive -- as I've previously mentioned).

H rating: 4 stars. Ian. All things considered -- I really did enjoy getting to hear his POV because I really like his character.

h rating: 4 stars. Tiny. Still really liking Tiny.

Sadness level: Low. No tears moments in this one.

Heat level: Moderate-high. I wouldn't say this crosses over to erotica because the story is primary and the sex is secondary, but it was hot!

Descriptive sex: Yes.

Sex scene with OW or OM:

Cheating:

Possible Triggers:

Closure: Great closure! They get there HEA and I felt like they would be a couple that made it.

Hot Mama, Tiny is one lucky girl. I’m with Frank. Where can I get one of Ian?

Usually I’m not impressed with a follow-up read, especially the second one, but I couldn’t put this down, just like the first. In fact, after developing the story in the first (Losing Control), I almost prefer this one…almost.

Drama, Drama, Drama and lots of it. That would pretty much sum up what happens in this second installment. The even better part? We get to read it from Ian’s POV!!!! Ok, and some of Tiny’s too, but what. ever. After being left with a little bit of that cliffhanger in Losing Control, this pretty much picks right up and barrels full steam ahead.

Ian is trying to give yup his plans for revenge, but Tiny feels inadequate because she feels she needs to give Ian “something” in return for all his given her. Ian’s jumped, Tiny’s threatened and so the chaos begins. Of course Tiny tries hiding some things, as well as Ian, but in the end, truth prevails, unites and only strengthens their love.
Sad to see this one come to an end. I’m REALLY crossing my fingers that there is a spin off with Kaga’s story. Now THAT’S a story I want to know about. Hint hint ;)

Would I recommend this story? DUH!!! I’m just really sad that it’s taken me so long to figure out it even existed.

It is sad that this one brought down what could have been a much better book. Tiny really got on my nerves in this book even though it was mostly from Ian pov. I could understand her grief but she seemed to hurt him by the things she said. Especially when he was trying to respect your wishes. I mean the first I felt she had moments that bothered me but I felt some of her insecurities should have lessened instead of increase. It was like she took major steps backward and that really brought down this book. I wanted her to be stronger and more sure since she had to go through a very hard thing. But it was like she got weaker and then got mad because of it and then lashed out at someone who helped you through it all. Yes she came to her senses quick and it didn't get dragged on thank goodness but she seemed so ungrateful for everything. Ian was great and yes he had moments but he was totally devoted to her. He lost points for me because he seemed more alpha in the first book and more beta in this one. So this goes down a star from the first book. It was good but had so much more potential.

Lil bit of a bummer but this wasn't as fantastic as the first book. But 4 stars nonetheless.

That being said I did not hate it in the least. I quite loved it, but there were just some issues for me.

* * *

First of all, a huge plus, WE GOT IANS POV!
And the book was primarily in his POV with only a few times we saw Tiny's. And lemme tell you, loved that. I loved reading his perspective and seeing what the hell was going on with this, while open and honest, still confusing billionaire.
Also I think the plot would have suffered if we were learning about all the company and enemies drama from Tiny's POV.

Lil negative with Ians POV though(and my main issue with the book) is that homeboy had only one thing on his mind: boinking Tiny at every possible opportunity. Also at every moment that wasn't opportune.
This book was significantly smuttier than the first and it was a little much for me. I skimmed almost all the sex scenes, because while hot as hell, they got boring to read over and over and over.
We get it, they're very attracted to each other and have insane sex. Do I need to read about it in every chapter? Nope.

Another small issue was... Ian proposed at the end of the first book. And Tiny accepted. I swear I didn't fever dream that up. And yet he flat out says he hasn't proposed yet. Tiny also acts like she's not sure about the engagement. Ian didn't propose again until halfway through the book I think.
It's so weird to me because all he thinks about is keeping Tiny forever, wanting everyone to know she's taken, and in a perfect world would wear a shirt that said "Property of Ian Kerr" every day of her life. Yet he doesn't get her a ring until the second proposal.

That's me nitpicking a little bit but it still stands as strange.

And while I liked the business and finance drama, the final drama with the Howe's was... unnecessary.

All that being said, I'm glad there was a second story to wrap up Ian and Tiny's story.
“There is no greater achievement in my life than having you fall in love with me, and I recognize on some mysterious level that that is pure luck. I need you to marry me and be my wife. I need you to be the mother of my children. I need you because without you I am nothing. I am a pile of bones and flesh filled with misery. You bring me to life. Love me, marry me, be with me in this life and all the ones we live from this point ever after.”

I say constantly that I like books to give me a LOT of time where the couple is happily together and in love, so much so that I get bored of all the happiness by the end. And I got that here in spades so, yay for me!

Tiny is still grieving her mothers death and though Ian is perfect, she's overwhelmed by all the luxury and wealth surrounding him.
Ian spent his life working hard and focusing on earning money and respect. And planning revenge on those who are to blame for what happened to his parents.
Tiny has a lot going on with her long lost stepfather showing up wanting to take care of her and her criminal stepbrother wanting her back. And with everything he did for her, Tiny won't have Ian giving up on this. So destroying Richard Howe is still a plan. Even though Ian is afraid Tiny might realize that he comes with more trouble than he's worth. And since he's worth billions that's quite something to say.

This one picked up right where the previous book left off. But Ian was different. Still possessive and intense but also off, not the funny jerk he can be and not the ruthless businessman, who knows how to get what he wants. But he got around eventually. Being smart and loyal he made me think: book-husband. And since I have some book-boyfriends already, that was something I enjoyed. Along with having his POV mostly.

Like he's a ruthless businessman, super intelligent and uber-hot, has enemies and still doesn't want to go against his nemesis because he doesn't hurt the ones surrounding him. Loved that. And I loved Ian doing billionaire business mixed with some sweet and some seriously steamy Ian and Tiny moments.

I loved how comfortable these two are in their relationship and with each other, deeply in love but still can be insecure and self-doubting. Feels so natural. And there's no creating unecessary drama, of course they have a lot of that going on already.

I get that being who he is Ian has enemies, but that much at once? And suddenly everyone wants Tiny? That's way to cliche. But I guess that's why I'm not into romantic suspense in general.
I did like the touch of mystery and suspense, the surprises and twists. Like Mitch the douche-stepfather showing up and being all parental, duh and the enemy you didn't see coming.

But then the end had to go uber-cheesy. I hate when that happens. Makes it going from 4 to 3,5 Stars.

One thing I can say for sure is that you will never doubt Ian's love for Tiny. Ian only sees one woman and it is her. He lives, sleeps, and breathes Tiny. She is his world and without her his life would be meaningless. While I admit that I'm not usually a fan of the rich man meets poor girl trope, I will say that this couple had me hook line and sinker. The author made it work by developing character's that I could relate to on some level. Tiny never came off as being TSTL. I never got the impression that her attraction to Ian had anything to do with the size of his bank account. Ian just flat out adores Tiny, and I found their love to be both endearing and entertaining. If you enjoyed book 1 then chances are you will enjoy its sequel :)

Sexy fun with heartfelt excitement. A very pleasurable read!

I love reading a story with a strong yet normal heroine, and an amazing guy who is a better guy than he thinks.

An excellent conclusion to Kerr Chronicles.

Jen Frederick thoroughly engages readers!

I didn't like this one as much as the first, but I still enjoyed reading it.
"Not crying doesn't make me the better person. Just an emotionally deficient one."
Ian knows who he is, and what he wants. Tiny (I really don't like her nickname) doesn't let their financial differences bother her as much in this second book. I think Ian stands out as one of the better alpha-males I've read. He isn't afraid to let Tiny make mistakes, I mean, he tries to control her, but she simply goes about doing what she wants anyway. He knows there are limits to what she will ultimately allow in their relationship. He loves her unconditionally, and that was swoony.

"Taking Control" picks up right were Losing Control left off . We find Tiny still morning the loss of her mother and Ian doing everything in his power to protect her, support her and prove to her just how deeply he really loves and cares for her!
Though their lives together are moving forward they still face threats and challenges for Tiny the threat comes in the form of her former step father Mitch Hedder and Ian is still dealing with his hatred and rivalry with Richard Howe , the man he feels responsible for the loss of his father when he was thirteen and then his mother when he was fifteen. Ian has held off on getting his revenge on Howe because he does not want to hurt the innocents in Howe's family like what happened to him with Richards betrayal of Ian's father when Ian was younger .
The majority of the book is written from Ian's point of view which gives you insight into his thought pattern concerning Victoria and his revenge plot against Howe, you also get a closer look at his friends, Kaga, Jake and Gabriel ( and I hope they are all getting their own stories; my curiosity is peaked).
Loving Victoria is easy for Ian, but Victoria is still having issues with the financial disparity between the two of them and then to add to Ian is possessive, jealous and just a tad controlling and so far down the rabbit hole in love with her, their is nothing he would not do for her.
He wants to keep her safe and being attached to him now makes her a target for Howe and others so their is ongoing tension over bodyguards between the two of them. Then of course
Mitch Hedder appearance concerns him , he is obviously after something from Tiny and given that his son and her step brother is Malcolm who tried to sell Tiny to Ian in the first book asan escort, his concern is well founded.
To spite all of the other challenges going on, even an attempt at a takeover of Kerr inc, these two are madly in Love and can not keep their hands off of one another ; soooooo..... Just a fair warning cold shower may occasionally required!
In thee do these two have the final laugh at their nemesis and you get a great HEA ,once gain the author continued with these two strong characters and introduced some more faces that I am looking forward to reading about hopefully In future books!

Taking Control closes out Ian and Tiny’s story. It’s a bit different from Losing Control. The chase is over. Ian has finally ensnared his bunny, and it’s time to figure out how their two worlds can mix. While Tiny struggles to settle into to a world without her mom, Ian’s struggle to put his past to rest continues. Together they’ll figure out how to take back the control they need to ground and finally solidify their relationship.

There were some great twists and surprises in this one – things I never saw coming. I was definitely glued to my Kindle intent on not putting it down until I found out EVERYTHING….. because, let’s be honest here, there was A LOT going on and A LOT of loose ends to tie up. Jen Frederick upped the temperature significantly this time. Lots and lots of sex. I swear every time I flipped a page (or close to it), Tiny and Ian were at it. Yes, it’s hot but I would have been okay with a little less of it. While I enjoyed this, I wish certain parts were wrapped up tighter or given more depth to the wrap up. I felt one or two pieces were put to bed rather quickly considering they were major parts of the story.

What I enjoy most about this series is the fact that Tiny and Ian are an atypical couple - a dyslexic bike courier and a billionaire. Ian’s a fabulously strong alpha with a heart of gold when it comes to Tiny. Tiny’s a strong and rather feisty heroine with tons of street smarts. They may seem like total opposites, but they fit together like custom made pieces. And, their insecurities about one another are rather endearing.

Overall, Taking Control is a nice wrap to Ian’s and Tiny’s story. If you’re looking for something with a controlling alpha and a strong feisty heroine, The Kerr Chronicles might be just what you’re looking for.

Much done before romance about a self-made billionaire rescuing a down on her luck h, with some passionate sex and antagonists to spice up the story. Although predictable, book was very well written, intelligent, plus had great dialogue.

Some other things I also liked about the book are:

-Great well researched descriptions of life as a Financial whiz on Wall Street and the social life they tend to have in NYC . Of all the ( hundreds of) books I've read where the H was a tycoon in the investment business, this was the most authentic. Hats off to the author for that!

-Interesting POV of a guy. H is 32 yrs old. Was one of those guys who from a teenager had his nose to the grind with a complete focus on making more and more money till he's now at the top. He's dated, women flock to him - its NYC where there are more single women to men, plus he's hot n loaded - but his work always came first till now. He clicked with the h and now he wants to retire while at the top and focus on h/family. It kind of reinforces to me that timing is very important - if the H met the h earlier when he hadn't achieved his career goals, not sure he would have been in a place in his head to give her so much - his attention, commitment, priority.

Anyway like I said the romance is nothing world changing but very well written; both the H and h come off as distinct personalities and it is enjoyable though bit slow-paced. 3.5 stars.

This book is a delightful end to this series. I actually hope that there is more to the series but maybe for Steve, Kaga, and James.

There is more suspense in this version of the story and I enjoyed that a bit. In book one there is a lot that happens but it's like the build up to what's really going to happen in book two. As anticipated there is way more to the revenge part of the story and that had me on the edge of my seat.

Tiny is still a strong woman that can hold her own and I love that she tackled her issues with reading and found a way to be who she is and enjoy life even with a disability. Ian was the same mega millionaire. There was a point where I was all like "Oh no they didn't." when it came to people and what they did to Ian. But Ian is a smart man and he knew what he was doing even though I questioned what he actually was doing.

The writing was great, the story kept my attention, and left me wanting more. And not just more from Ian and Tiny, but more from all the men in Tiny and Ian's life. I recommend this for lover's of romance and alpha males. I look forward to more from this author and can't wait to see if there is more for these characters.

Enjoyed it

....and the fairytale ends with a....

I really enjoyed the Kerr Chronicles. I'm happy to read about bossy rich men who fall in love with hot chicks who try to be independent and strong, but need someone to stand at their backs and support them.

At first I wasn't sure about reading this book from Ian's perspective. More times than not the heroes come off a little too soft and emotional. At the beginning I felt this, but as the story progressed he toughened up and was the man I expected him to be.

Still a great connection between Victoria and Ian with lots of sexy bits to keep me interested.

Loved the supporting characters and would definitely be interested in reading their stories.

Yes, I probably have read this formula before...but what's wrong with that? Of course I like to read things that make my heart flutter, my skin flush and an ending that puts a smile on my face.

So good authors like Ms Frederick, please keep writing this formula and I will keep buying them. I want the heroine to find her handsome Prince, whether he be in a suit, a leather jacket, scrubs or a uniform.

I will definitely be reading more from this author.
