The Teachers College Minority Postdoctoral Fellowship was created in 1996 to advance the careers of individuals from groups in U.S. society that have been historically underrepresented in the academic profession; to advance scholarship on issues affecting underrepresented groups; and to increase the diversity of scholars and those who prepare them nationwide. The Fellowship provides recent doctorate recipients the opportunity to develop a program of research and participate as an active community member in the life of a graduate research university.

The fellowship includes a research stipend, remuneration for teaching a course, research support, free campus housing, eligibility for low-cost student health insurance, and limited relocation costs. It does not guarantee future employment at TC.

TC Minority Postdoctoral Fellows have gone on to teach at major institutions across the United States, as well as to work in the nonprofit and for-profit sectors.

Profiles in Diversity Journal featured the 20th Anniversary of the Minority Postdoctoral Fellowship in its spring 2016 issue. Read the story here. See the full issue here.
