Desperate Mom Turns To Illegal Drug In Hope To Save Son’s Life (Video)

(N.Morgan) The drug war has a trail of victims behind it, but the most painful of these victims are the children who could benefit so much from medical cannabis. They are the ones who suffer the most from the taboos and BS spread by the drug war and anti-drug campaigns. People need to recognize that Marijuana has so many medicinal benefits, without the toxic side effects. This medicine can mean the difference from being bed ridden to actually living a full, active life. it is time for big changes and time for us to realize that marijuana is not only a useful and necessary drug, but life saving, in many cases. The young man we are discussing today is Austin and his life has been anything but full and active. Most of his days are spent trying to survive, rather than living. He is plagued by seizures that never seem to end. His one hope is cannabis oil. It has shown to be very successful if treating major cases of Epilepsy and Seizures.

Cannabis enthusiasts gathered signatures across the metro Sunday, looking to legalize the use of marijuana here in the Sooner State. Oklahoma State Question 773 is the petition to vote on the regulation of Marijuana & Hemp in the state. In order for it to be passed, supporters will need over 156,000 signatures by October 13th. One Oklahoma mother is looking to get marijuana legalized in the state for a completely different reason, to help treat severe medical illnesses. Amy Hilterbran’s son, Austin, has Dravet Syndrome, a severe form of Epilepsy that causes him to have multiple severe seizures everyday. She said her son’s treatments consistently fails him and the twenty-two prescription drugs he’s cycled through have sent the family into a financial tailspin.

Amy says there’s one hope left for her son who can’t even attend school or ride a bike because of his seizures – cannabis oil. The family has decided to give it a shot and will make the drive to Colorado later this month so Austin can undergo therapy while being observed by medical professionals. Since the treatments have put the family in so much debt, they’ve decided to go the fundraising route and are having “Austin’s Night,” where there will be a raffle, live bands and food. The event starts at 5 p.m. September 18th, at Charlie’s Sports Bar in Choctaw.
