No arrests have been made in Monday night’s armed robbery in Aberdeen, according to Capt. Eric Duven of the Aberdeen Police Department.

The robbery took place at Casino Korner at 711 N. Second St., shortly before 8:45 p.m. Monday. The casino is at the south end of the strip mall that houses Godfather’s Pizza and the C-Express Clark gas station and convenience store.

According to a news release issued by Duven, two people entered the casino, each brandishing a handgun. Shots were fired, the release said, but no injuries were reported. The suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to the release.

People who were in the casino at the time of the robbery said two gunmen came in the rear entrance of the business, fired two or three shots and told people to get on the floor. The men then fled the business, according to the witnesses.

Police officers and vehicles remained on the scene well into the night.

The investigation is ongoing. People with information are asked to call the police department at 605-626-7000.

Christian I. Cabrera-Ascencio was found guilty by a Brown County jury in July of aiding and abetting the armed robbery of Fresh Start Credit Sales. He drove the vehicle in both incidents and was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Luis A. Maldonado, of Aberdeen previously pleaded guilty to armed robbery of the car lot. He was sentenced to 11 years in prison.

Earlier this month, two men were arrested and charged with attempted armed robbery after a report of a shot being fired in an Aberdeen apartment. Augustine J. Wilkie, 32, of Aberdeen and Abdi A.
