A four-year-old girl had a charity hair cut yesterday.

Hanna Chetinkaya, of Stanley Road, South Woodford, will donate the hair to cancer charity Little Princess Trust, to be used as a wig for young cancer patients.

The hair cut, which cut 17cm, took place yesterday afternoon at Essential Hairdressers, in George Lane, South Woodford.

Her mother, Samara, 34, said Hanna had been growing her hair for two years after being inspired by a  girl who had done the same thing on a television programme she had watched.

Samara said: “Hanna thinks it is fantastic, it is a really tangible and personal way to give to charity rather than just giving money.

“Her hair is now quite short but it will make someone really happy which is what it is all about.

“Hanna was watching a programme where a girl had done the same thing and she asked me questions about it and said she would like to do it too, I thought it would be a great idea.”
