Amend that.

I had it all except for love from my family. But life was good because I had him. Max was everything I dreamed a husband could be and somehow he loved me just as wildly as I loved him.

Until one cruel night he was stolen from me.

Then I had nothing but a vicious battle ahead of me. It’s a struggle so treacherous, I’m not sure if I’ll make it out with my heart in tact. But on the other side of that brutal war waits the most wondrous prize.

#PontOfNoReturn_oliviaLuck

In Olivia Luck's newest release, Point of No Return, Ms. Luck takes her readers on a poignant, touching, heartbreaking, and emotional tale of a woman's journey of moving on. To move on from an unexpected death of her husband leaving her a widow at an early age. For Violet, her world is shattered when the life of her husband was stolen. She not only lost the man who was her best friend, lover, and protector but she also lost a part of herself. The beautiful spirit and aura that radiated rays of hope is now filled with an empty void of a woman just trying to live one day at time. So what happens when Violet meets a man who has been admiring her from a distance? A man who was waiting in the shadows?

The first time Cameron saw Violet, he was instantly attracted to her. Fast forward to a year later, fate has a beautiful way of reuniting Cameron with Violet. When Cameron and Violet gets assigned to work together for an event, he slowly begins his way to earn her friendship and trust knowing that she is still hurting from losing her husband. After spending time together, Violet and Cameron begins a friendship that soon leads to sparks of attraction and deep feelings for one another. So can Violet make room for Cameron in her heart and let him in?

The relationship of Cameron and Violet was a beautiful portrayal of showcasing that LOVE truly HEALS. And in this case, Cameron was patient, understanding, and a true friend who didn't rush Violet when it came to pursing more than friendship. What I loved about this book was that Ms. Luck didn't rush their relationship. She allowed readers to see and feel the emotional growth of Violet where she was at a point in her life where she could truly move on. The most memorable part in this book for me was with the scene with Violet and her late husband, Max. That truly was the most heartbreaking and beautiful part of the book that left me crying. Yes, I know there are lots of swoony Cameron moments but what made me fall in love with him was that he didn't get mad or jealous that a part of Violet's heart will always belong to Max.

Point of No Return is a beautiful, touching, and emotional read that truly showcases that second chances do exists. This book stole my heart with the simplicity of the story line and none of that unnecessary drama or angst. I must say that Cameron is truly the heart of this book because he was the friend, the backbone, the good guy, prince charming and the knight in shining armor. So if you are looking for a book that is brimming with raw emotions and palpable moments between Cameron and Violet, then I highly recommend you to read Point of No Return. Get ready to fall in love with a sweet, heartfelt story where LOVE HEALS and NEW BEGINNINGS BEGIN.

Do you like cute, funny and sport related romances?

Well, then this is the book for you. A very light read with minimal angst between the main characters. Yes, there is drama, there is sadness but it's not laid too heavy in the story to sidetrack you with a building love affair.

The characters were easy to connect with and the secondary ones were fantastic!

A nice book to pick up if you get a hankering for hot, hockey men!! ♥

I wanted to read Violet’s book ever since what happened in Pressure Point. I loved her in the previous books and I couldn’t believe what had happened. I loved this book and it’s an amazing addition to the Point series. This book is emotional, touching, sweet and beautiful.

Violet lost her husband about a year ago and she has been feeling lost since. She has a new job. She will organize a charity event for the Scrapers, a professional hockey team. At the first meeting, she meets Cam who is the goalie of the team. He will have to agree with her plans and they will see each other regularly.

Cam saw Violet for the first time a few years ago and he was attracted to her, but he would never touch someone who is in a relationship. He still wants her now, but he knows that Violet isn’t ready yet so he waits. Violet and Cam will become good friends and Violet slowly starts to fall for Cam.

I absolutely adored Violet and Cam. Violet is strong, passionate, talented, independent and brave. She still misses her husband every single day, but she’s ready to start living again. She can’t wait to work again, because she loves doing it. Violet likes Cam and his company, but she’s hesitant to give her heart to another man. Cam is gentle, sweet, talented, nice, genuine, and caring. He loves playing hockey and he’s amazing at it. He’s close to his team mates and Blake. Cam changes quickly for Violet. He wants her and only her. He’s always there for her. He’s just perfect for her.

Olivia Luck never rushed Cam and Violet’s relationship. It takes a long time before Violet wants to give Cam a chance. She needs time, because she’s still grieving. She lost the one person she ever loved and she thought she would be with him forever. Cam is very patient and he waits until Violet is ready for more. I love them together. If there were more scenes of them as a couple, then Point of No Return would have been a favorite of mine.

I loved the secondary characters. The previous couples appear sometimes. It was great to read about them still madly in love. Violet has amazing friends! I hope to read the next book soon now that I know whose book it is. I can’t wait!

**** 4 Let Me Cherish You Stars ****

If you are looking for a sweet read, with very little drama, with a sexy hockey player with the biggest heart possible, a girl trying to pick up the pieces of her broken heart, then this is the book for you.

 photo Violet_zpshpklktky.jpg

Violet is heartbroken and trying to find the footing to live her life after the death of her husband in a fire accident. Her friends stand by her and help her move on by getting her a job as an event planner. Violet knows this is what she needs to get her spunk back. As she plans this event, she is ready to impress and make this the best damn event the team has ever had. Violet's plans don't include meeting the famous and gorgeous Cameron Stone.

 photo Cam_zpss1oziapc.jpg

Cam is the top goalie in the professional hockey league and he only has eyes for Violet. He has been attracted to her ever since he first saw her the night her deceased husband proposed to her. He knew she was off limits but his heart was struck by her beauty and innocence.

Their paths crossed many times and Cam admired from a distance. Nothing was worse for him until he had to watch Violet mourn her loss of her husband. Cam wanted to be there for her but how could he pick the pieces of her broken heart. She was filled with grief and Cam means nothing to her.

As their working relationship swings into full gear, they both feel their attraction to each other. Cam wants her with every ounce of his beating heart but doesn't want to push her too fast. Violet wants Cameron but moving on with a new man makes her feel like she is betraying the love of her life.

 photo point_zpstzd67xck.jpg

Cam is beyond amazing in this book. The amount of patience he has for Violet his heart warming. Their blossoming relationship was really slow paced that had me a little bored during the read but I knew this story was going be great.

Overall the story was great but the last 30% of this book is what did it for me. I will forever be crushing on Cameron!!

Favorite quote from this book:
"That's what falling in love is, I guess. Hurling yourself at the unknown, unsure if a safety net will catch your fall. The thing is, if you don't fall, you're souring. The chance to soar with Violet is way worth the risk of the unknown."

Let me start this review by saying that this is my first book that I have read set in the hockey world and I was not disappointed. On the surface, this book looks like the classic, player type of guy who finds a really sweet girl to finally make him a 'one woman' type of man. And it is that in a sense, but it also is so much more. This book is about finding your voice in the world, finding meaning and overcoming grief.

The character development in this book is amazing. The two main characters, Violet and Cam, go through SO much growth. Violet has the challenge of overcoming the death of her husband and her strict religious upbringing. Cam, the male lead, has the challenge of learning to overcome his 'love and leave them' type of attitude with women to become the type of man who is devoted to one type of woman, in this case, Violet. The fact that Cameron is a famous hockey player who looks like a male model, doesn't help him in his quest so much because women are always flocking to him because of his fame and athletic status.

My favorite aspect of this book is that there is no insta love here. Cam does spot out Violet early on but at the time she is with someone else and goes through this whole ordeal with her husband who passes away. Because of that Violet has, like, a wall up, it takes her a long time to open herself up to the thought of love. Widow's guilt is what she suffers through and I have never read a book about a young woman becoming a widow and the grieving process and this book did it well. I could feel Violet's trepidation to say yes to Cameron. And though Cameron is an alpha male, he becomes the most patient, caring and sweetest guy with Violet. He respects her SO much and that was great to read about. A man that has pure admiration for a woman who is trying her best to survive the tragedies of life.

I loved that this book had great secondary characters. From Violet's straightforward gay best friend, Felix, to her other bestie, Stella, they were all such well developed characters in their own right. I loved Ben, who was the cousin of Violet's deceased husband, who had down syndrome but was such a fully fleshed out character rather than a caricature of someone with disability. Even down to the characters who were not the greatest of people, this book had great characterization.

My favorite character in this book was Cameron. Totally new book boyfriend material. So protective, so sexy, so everything. Seeing his process of growth was awesome. He really learned with Violet that he could find Miss Right. I also thought it was so funny how he had to fight his sexual thoughts with Violet. This poor man, suffered. He was SO into her in always, but because she was a widow, trying to find her own place in the world, he had to be patient. But when they finally do hook up, HELLO. Cam drops the sweet side and becomes the purest of Alpha males and let's his inner desires flow to the surface. He definitely became the type of man who take the wheel.

Lastly, a really great aspect of this book is that it shows the reader that they must have patience in life and that even when they do fall in love, they can't forget to pursue their dreams and goals. Because YES Violet and Cameron develop feelings for one another and had a rocky journey to find their way back to eachother, but they don't get lost in that. Violet pursues her goals as an event planner, while Cameron stays focused on his career as a goalie on a hockey team.

Overall, this was a really great read. I think there will be a book about Violet's sister, who also has the challenge of overcoming her strict upbringing and facing love, sexuality and life in the big city of Chicago.

Received copy for my honest review for Fallen for Books Reviewers.

"Move on? How could you move on from the big love of your life? How could you let go of the best memories of your life? There was no magical device to rid your memory of the only person who truly made you feel worthy of love."

This is the 1st book I've read by this author and I truly enjoyed it. I had no idea there's a previous book before this, but it's safe to say I didn't feel like I had no idea what's going on - I'll definitely be reading Stella and Blake's story.

Told from a dual POV, Point of No Return is a beautiful second chance romance which follows Violet's tragic life after the sudden passing of her husband, Max. When we meet her she's a shell of her former self, with no direction in life and no chance of healing her broken heart. With the help of her best friend Stella and her partner Blake, Violet soon finds herself something to fight for - a new job with the prestigious Chicago Scrapers hockey team. Here she meets Cameron, the team's assistant captain and goalie who becomes one of her best friends and a shoulder to cry on.

Violet is a great romance heroine - even through everything she has endured, she's a strong, capable woman. She has a dark/terrible background - not everything was flowers and rainbows growing up, but she moved passed that and she didn't let it define her. This book is mainly about Violet finding herself and allowing love back into her life - opening your heart to someone new is the only way to patch up your broken heart.

"Fall with me Violet. I'll be there waiting, always, with my arms ready to catch you. You'll never hit the ground when you've got me."

Cameron or Cam as everyone calls him is an incredible hero -he's sweet, attentive, patient and most importantly, loving. He lets Violet decide for herself and is there when she needs someone to talk to. Him and his dog Rocky are totally worth fighting for.

What I loved most about this story is that it felt 'real' - Violet didn't jump at Cam right away, their relationship grew over time - they went from acquaintances to friends to lovers. Although Cam is a famous playboy he acted like a regular guy in this book - he played hockey, trained, watched movies and played with his dog - I noticed a trend in hockey romances and that is to have the hero act like a douche, like he's the most famous guy on the planet when in reality, even with the increasing popularity of hockey you rarely hear about them in the papers - I applaud Olivia Luck for staying true to what an athlete hero entails.

One thing I will complain about is the small editing mistakes I've noticed, but nothing that should hold you back from reading this book.

"You're not ready for me yet. But when you are, I will be here waiting for you. My heart is wide open for you, Violet. It always has been and always will be."

I offered to read this to give it my honest review for a blog tour I was helping on. However, I didn't realize there was a book prior to this. If I had of known I would have read that one first as it crucial to read them in order. I'm a bit OCD when it comes to books like this.

Her husband dies in a fire and she is finding it hard to move on. Of course she is, and we feelViolet's pain through the pages as we read.

Its a year on now and still she is finding it hard to move on. Well, a year isn't a long time is it.

Bearing in mind the upbringing Violet had we can see the effects its had on her as a person.

This is a story of life. Love, devastation, pain, suffering, hope and outcomes.

This is the only book I have read by this author Olivia Luck. She has a captivating way of writing which I enjoyed.

The rating of 3.5 is not a rating to be upset over, its a rating I personally give to a GOOD BOOK but not one that stood out and made me go WOW.

I must thank the author and blog tour for allowing me to read it.

I thought Blake’s story was wonderful but this one blows it out of the water. Cameron is just ugh the perfect book boyfriend. He sees Violet from afar when she was getting engaged and she blew his mind. How? The way she reacted to her fiance. She didn’t look at the ring but him. Over time he found her to be more intriguing and wonderful. When Violet loses her husband and comes to work for the Hockey team Blake owns that Cameron is on he is patient and kind to her. Cameron doesn’t jump right in but becomes her friend and a safe place for her. He gives her encouragement and kind words, listens and is a shoulder for her. He’s amazeballs.

The writing is one in which the characters and their emotions drive it forward so that you are engrossed in what is happening in the here and now and how they are feeling that you have your emotions evoked as well.

Violet is the mess. She is still trying to figure out who she is and where she belongs. She is still not moving on when Cameron comes into her life. With his help she realizes what she wants. She opens a business and begins to live again. She sees a reason to want to move on. Her feelings are confusing for her though and she feels she is harming her feelings for her deceased husband. This book is her journey into acceptance of his death and moving on to become a stronger version of herself. To forge new friendships, find family, stand up for oneself and find love. It is her new beginning.

She realizes family is with those who support and love you for you and don’t try to control you. She sees that people make mistakes and they pick up and continue on. She sees that she doesn’t have to let go of her deceased husband to let someone else in her life but move on and make room for someone in her heart. This is done mainly with the help and kindness of Cameron- who is patient and sweet and totally understaning, but also her brother in law who at first is a douche but once he become true to himself and lets go really becomes a brother to violet, Stella who gives her the support and space she needs to figure things on her own, Felix who is the comedy relief and the support she needs to feel safe, her in laws who accept her as family even after they lose their son and show her that love doesn’t come with conditions, and herself for opening her eyes and facing the truth of her situation.

This is the story of Cameron showing who he is and that fate and patience play a role in his life and love. Who helps Violet see that you don’t need to let go but move on and open yourself up to new worlds and experiences. Each character plays a role in helping Violet move on and find her voice and peace of mind.

This is the heartwarming story of a man who is famous wanting more with a woman who enthralls him and blows him over with who she is on the inside and how he is kind and patient with her and helps her see that love is patient and understanding and over time gets the girl of his dreams. The story will capture your heart and keep a smile on your face as you take the journey of Violet moving on and finding love with a amazing man named Cameron.

**JOSIE'S 4.5 STAR REVIEW**

This is the third book I have read from this author and just like the others this book was a beautiful, heartfelt story. The author gives readers an emotional, tender, touching, and passionate story of Violet’s journey to move on. Violet has lost her best friend, the love of her life, her supporter and protector, her husband Max, in a tragic way. Violet is young and her entire world as she knows it is over. She is no longer the same person she was before Max died, a piece of her went with him. This story moved me and touched me on so many levels because I can’t imagine my life without my husband and to read how much Violet suffered from her loss bought tears to my eyes.

We get a prologue that is told in His and Hers POV’s. It sets readers up for when Cam and Violet come in contact again. Violet was happy and confident prior to her husband’s death a year ago, now a days she just goes through the motions with day to day life. Max was a firefighter and he lost his life doing what he loved. If it was not for her friends Blake, Stella and Felix she would have been completely alone. Her friends help her to get her life back by getting her a job that will keep her busy by organizing a charity event for the Chicago Scrapers, a profession Hockey team.

Cameron (Cam) is the NHL’s best goalie. He leads the perfect life in his eyes. He loves his job and the women that came along with that title that is until he sees Violet again. Cam remembers Violet from the night she got engaged to Max. This is where I deeply feel in love with his character. Cam knows Max has died and that Violet is having a hard time grieving and moving on. When Violet and Cam start to work together on this event, he can see she is not anywhere near ready for a relationship so he becomes her friend.

This friendship becomes something that Violet needs in her life. It is an innocent and lovely friendship, they both establish a trust and bond over time. Violet slowly starts to become the person she once was with Cam’s friendship and support. The more time they spend together the more Cam can’t stay away. What I really loved most about where the author took this story was that the romance between Cam and Violet was not fast. It was a beautiful slow and steady built up. Cam was a doll, a keeper, a totally BBF. He was tolerant, sympathetic and dedicated to Violet. I really loved him.

Point of No Return is a beautiful story about moving on, letting go and never forgetting what was once lost but accepting a second chance at love when it comes around. There was no drama, no angst in the love story but I was emotionally invested the way through. Give this series a chance. You will fall in love with the characters and the author’s ability to write a story that will have you emotionally connected.

Point of No Return is a standalone in The Point series written by Olivia Luck. Unfortunately I hadn’t had the pleasure of reading anything by Olivia Luck before this and that really is my biggest disappointment. Reading Point of No Return made me want to devour everything else Luck has ever written and sit and wait patiently for anything she publishes in the future.

Point of No Return is a love story that is so genuine and honest; the authenticity between the two main characters will have you feeling complete, content and whole-heartedly satiated. With Luck’s attention to detail, she single-handedly breathes life into this heart-warming story. Capturing the essence of both characters with her words and descriptions, Luck has the readers attention at all times.

The story focuses on Chicago’s hottest and extremely successful hockey player Cameron Stone. Cam plays for the Scrapers and is one of Chicago’s most eligible bachelors; at the peak of his career, with the whole world at his feet, Cameron is feeling empty and hollow. As he decides that he needs to find something to fill the void, Cam is questioning his future and wondering what or whom it could be to make it all complete.

We then meet Violet Harper, recently married to Max, her dream man. Three months into her marriage, with the death of her husband, her world is turned upside down. The future she envisioned for herself is suddenly blurry, unclear and very much non-existent. Losing her heart, soul and essence of her future, Harper is left feeling like vacant, bare and despondent. Her former self is only something she can reminisce about, because Harper is certain there is no light at the end of her tunnel.

A year after Max’s death Violet is realizing that she can no longer be the shadow of her former self. With a little help from her friends, determined to kick-ass, Violet is being commissioned to be the Chicago Scrapers’ new Event Planner. The same Chicago Scrapers that the very hot and single Cameron Stone plays for…

Being thrown together to ensure maximum success on the Scrapers Charity event, we start to witness the beginning of an amazing love story. As the story keeps a steady and realistic pace, the reader becomes a bystander in this tug of war of emotions between Violet and Cam.

Individually they are both grappling with the wrongs and rights of their situation. As Violet conjures up all the reasons they can never been together, Cam insists that there is no one else for him.

“You’re not ready for me yet. But when you are, I will be here waiting for you. My heart is wide open, Violet. It always has and always will be.”

I LOVED THIS BOOK!! This week had been a really bad in terms of reading for me, and I was dying to read something good, free of drama and unwanted angst, Point of No Return by Olivia Luck delivered exactly what I needed.

Violet Harper had the perfect life- great friends, a job she loved and a fairy-tale romance with her adoring husband. All was well, until one day her husband Max who is a firefighter, dies while on a job. Violet's world is turned upside down, crushed with grief of being a young widow. Tired of seeing Violet drowning in sorrow, her best friend Stella and her husband Blake get her a job, for planning a fundraiser event for the Chicago Scrapers, a professional hockey team.

Cameron Stone is the assistant captain and star goalie for Chicago Scrapers. He is a ladies man and enjoys the life that comes with being the star player. But that changes the moment when he was out on a dinner with his team he catches a gorgeous woman across the room and finds himself captivated by her beauty, only to watch her being proposed by a man. The love he sees in her eyes makes him think of having that for himself with someone someday.

This is a beautiful story of love, fate, compassion and trust between Violet and Cam. It's about Violet dealing with her trouble of letting go of the past, and finding herself again. Most of the characters in this book have already made appearances in the other books in the Point series and I liked them all..especially Felix and oh I loved Cameron's dog Rocky-what an adorable pet to own!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and recommend it to everyone!Sometimes a sweet angst free romance is all you need to make you day!

I was given an ARC book for an honest review free of persuasion from the author or anyone else affiliated with this book.

CONTAINS SOME SPOILERS

Wow! Olivia Luck is a fantastic romance novelist! She did not disappoint with the third book in this series. I absolutely love how each book ties into the books before. You meet the characters in previous books only to get their story in depth when it is their turn!

Violet is alone. She was told by her dad when she left for college to never come back. Being a small town girl, she is scared but trying to make her life in Chicago after graduating college. She meets a firefighter named Max and falls hopelessly in love. They get married and everything is perfect! Until the job that Max loves takes his life way to soon. When Violet looses her husband and finds herself a widow by age 27, she sinks into intense depression. Everything she has known is gone. How does she pick up the pieces? Can she find herself? Can she love again?

Cam is a goalie for a hockey team. He is the best and he knows it. He goes out with the team, takes girls back to his hotel room, lives the fast professional life that fame and fortune has brought him. He is out with the guys at a bar one night when he sees a beautiful girl. His instant thought is that I will have her, until he sees her proposed to. When she accepts, Cam drowns his disappointment in alcohol and another nameless woman. That proposal that he witnessed has him thinking that their might be more to life. It gets him to thinking about settling down. Is there a woman out there for Cam? Does Cam slow down his fast life to find love?

I am hooked on Olivia Luck's books! I can not wait for the 4th book in this series! Thank you Olivia for a good read that I couldn't put down!

A Beautiful Love Story

This is the first book that I have read by this author and I really enjoyed this beautiful love story. Point of No Return is told in a dual POV which is my absolute favorite writing style but it mostly focuses on Violet learning how to love again after tragically losing her husband Max a year ago. Violet is struggling with letting go of Max and moving on.

"You can continue loving him like he's your living, breathing husband or you can love him like the man who made a difference in your life."

Violet accepts the job offer her best friend's husband Blake offers her as an event planner for the Hockey Team his family owns. The very first meeting she has she meets the team goalie, Cam, who is going to work with her in planning this event and sparks fly on his end. It’s really a sweet story of Cam falling in love with Violet but giving her the time and the patience that she needs before she is ready to move on.

"You're not ready for me yet. But when you are, I will be here waiting for you. My heart is wide open for you, Violet. It always has been and always will be."

I really enjoyed this story and didn't know that the author already had a book about Violet’s best friend Stella and Blake. So this can be read as a standalone, but I will definitely be reading the other book. There were some minor editing errors but nothing that turned me off from reading this book.

"I've fallen for Violet Harper. Fallen deeply enough to never swim out of her ocean-blue eyes. Fallen deeply enough to drown in her smile. Fallen deeply enough to know that this is love, the kind of love that doesn't die.”

Possibly 3.75 - just missing the 4th star for me

I liked the dual POV's very much in this one. The story was a little slow and meandering for me.
I wanted more of Cam and Violet alone, but there's a lot of other characters involved and at times I found that slightly annoying.

There's also quite a bit of dancing around each other in the alone time that Violet and Cam actually had, I can understand the reasons for that but I like a bit more hot action with my romance!
There was none at all before 70% and what there was wasn't terribly erotic, one scene even faded to black with a line about them waking up next morning! That never works for me, I like the juicy bits too much!

Her sister (book 2!) came into the story late on but I felt that the abrupt way her story ended in this one fell short - very strange?

Still, if you're looking to start a new romantic series by a debut author then look no further!
Hope it's a huge success for Olivia Luck.. thanks very much for offering me your first book :)

Ooh I must say that I loved Rocky the puppy!

PRE-REVIEW:

Violet was married to a man she truly loved, but he died in line of duty doing a job he loved. Violet was devastated, and after a little over a year if finally ready to try and return to work and move on with her life. With the help of her friends, she is given an opportunity to do a job that she excels at, and will help her reconnect with life again after her devastating loss.

I've really enjoyed the other two books in this series, and have really been looking forward to Violet's story. This didn't disappoint. As much as I liked the first two books in this series, I think this one is now my favorite. There are definitely some difficult emotions to be experienced here as Violet moves through her grief. My emotions were all over the place while reading this, and I loved the ride. Some of it was difficult, but I think it made the happy parts all the more rewarding. It was great to reconnect with some of the characters that we got to know in the previous installments. Violet is an easy character to connect to and care about. Cameron is pretty wonderful, and if there is anything that isn't spectacular about him I sure don't know what it is. I liked this a lot and I think fans of the series, or those reading this as a stand-alone will have a rewarding experience.

"I want to go to sleep next to you and wake up next to you. I want fight over what to order in dinner and keep trying to teach you how to cook. I want to fall in love with you more and more every day"

Violet is a strong woman, who has a perfect life until she is affected by the tragedy of losing her husband, one of the most important persons in her life, broken at all she continues with her life and her projects until she meets a new person that changes her life step by step.

Cameron is a really sweet guy, he's adorable, perfect and he is ready to wait all the time to get Violet, they have a kind of connection that makes all a bit more easy, that and Rocky Cameron's dog is one of the principal motives for what they approach more, but even without Rocky, Cameron was sure of one thing... he wants to get Violet's heart

the book is about how Violet is surpassing all the stages of grief, how she close her hurts to be able to get new chances, is a really good book, not rushing anything so when you are reading it it's feels very real, it's a good look about how the people feel when they lost someone so important in their lifes and even when they have lost they can have seconds chances and beginning again and be able to have a happy ending

(ARC received via NetGalley for an honest review)

When I read the second book in The Point Series - Pressure Point, I made mention of my excitement for Point Of No Return, because... Cam. So when I got the opportunity to read it as an ARC shortly after that I jumped at the opportunity. It didn't disappoint at all, in fact it exceeded my expectations a little bit. In case you're new to the series and plan on starting it at the beginning you might not want to read this review fully as there may be some unintentional yet unavoidable spoilers for the previous books (but before you stop reading know that I REALLY REALLY liked this book).

"That's what falling in love is, I guess. Hurling yourself at the unknown, unsure if a safety net will catch your fall.
The thing is, if you don't fall, you're soaring... "

Let me kick this review off by just laying it out there, Cameron Stone is one million percent best of the best book boyfriend material. You know that list of book boyfriends I mention from time to time a lot, well Cameron sky rocketed to the top with the major contenders. I knew he was going to be good, but then he turned around to be AMAZING. As the book starts out with a prologue from his POV we get a look into the first time he sees Violet. He is enamored by her at first sight but not even a moment later he's witnessing her in one of the greatest moments of her life... with another guy.
Even so fate/destiny/happenstance/life proves it has something in mind as his path seems permanently intertwined with hers from then on. But she can't be his...

When Violet fell in love with Max he had given her everything she never had before. She was accepted into his larger than life loving family: his friends became her friends: his love. Now a young widow, Violet has to navigate the difficult grieving process. She is surrounded by her supportive friends, Max's family, and much to her dismay Max's twin brother Dominic whose icy treatment of her makes Violet wonder why he even bothers to come around her.
Violet's return to work leads her right into the path of Cam Stone, she never expected how important of a relationship he would fill for her.

"Let me carry your burden for a little while."

I absolutely adored the relationship between Violet and Cam. The pacing of their growth from friends-of-a-friend, to a steadfast close friendship is pretty spot on perfect. Frankly it was a major part of what makes Cameron stand out. He seeks out opportunities to be there for her, to be her friend, and in the process he becomes a pillar of support. He's truly understanding as he watches the woman he has wanted from the shadows work through conflicting emotions of grieving and living for herself again. That's not to say he is ever unclear about what he wants. He's not flippant about his feelings for Violet, he knows what he wants, he knows he has to be patient for her heart.

"You're not ready for me yet. But when you are, I will be here waiting for you. My heart is wide open for you, Violet. It always has been and always will be."

Now I know I keep going back to Cameron but I really did love Violet's character as well. Even though the story opens with her trying to emerge from a dark place in her life and heart, her strength throughout the story is the testament to the strength of her character.
I loved her insistence at finding herself again.
I loved her lists and her determination to experience things...to live.
I loved the glimpse at her past and I loved the glimpse at her future. Yeah I really loved that.

It's a slow build... a simmer... of a love story. There is no denying the heat.

"We're inevitable and she knows it as well as I do."

I know it too Cameron.
Thus far this is easily my favorite book in the series but I can't wait to see who we get to meet in the stories to come. Iris... Tucker maybe?... and yes even Dominic (seriously I went from really dude? to awww I like you now, but he was cutting it really close.)

I'm giving Point Of No Return 4.5 Stars!

Point of No return is the third book in the Point series . They are all stand alone with connecting characters and they are all excellent !! If I have to choose the best one , which is a little "Sophie's Choice-like" to me, I have to say this one is perfection!! (But read them all !!!! )

Violet has left her controlling father and family behind and has made a beautiful life for herself with the love of her life, Max. She has a wonderful group of friends and they, and Max's large Italian family, become her new family ...all is good. Then on one horrible night all of that changes and she now has to find a way to survive without him. This story finds us a year later and also finds Violet afraid to be happy , afraid to move on with her life.

"That guide to mourning would really come in handy now, I think numbly. Really I am making it up as I go. One day I am drowning in grief, and the next I am making a slow climb to peace. None of it seems right."

Cameron is living every bachelor's dream. He is world's best hockey goalie, he is wealthy and handsome but has a hole in his heart that was left there years ago when he first saw Violet. Who knew years later, he would have a chance to win her heart? If only her heart was ready to receive his love.

"I'm not a man to admit fear, but in this instance, I've accepted that Violet has all the power now. The depth of my emotion for Violet scares me the most. There's no end to this kind of all-consuming love. There's no other woman who could captivate me - mind, body and soul."

"Fall with me, Violet. I'll be there waiting, always, with arms ready to catch you. "
*heavy sigh

This book is story perfection. Each and every character has a palpable soul and a reason for being. No stone is left unturned. At the end of this book you will feel so completely satisfied that everyone's deepest emotion has a place and we as the reader can feel them all. Violet both breaks and fills your heart as you watch her transformation. Cameron's strength and conviction assures you that he will do whatever it takes to protect Violet from the dark.

I would be remiss if I do not mention how Ben made me smile...you'll see!!!

And if all else fails there is a puppy!!!! Can't go wrong ..ever... with a furry friend!!!

Bring on Iris' story !!! Thank you Olivia Luck for another must-read !!!

Point of no return

I received an ARC of this title from the publisher through Netgalley in return for an honest review.

Violet Harper was brought up in a small town as the preachers daughter. Her father ran his house with an iron fist and was adamant that his daughters stay in town and follow his strict rules. When Violet decided that she wanted to go to college out of town, he put his foot down and forbade it stating that if she did she would never be allowed back and would be disowned. She took the risk and never looked back but growing up in a home like that, she never truly felt love until she met Max. Max was a once in a life time love. She was instantly excepted into his family and he made her happier than she had ever been. She was ready to spend the rest of her life with him so when he asked her to marry him, she knew that they would have forever to be together. Or not....

Cameron Stone was a professional hockey player for the Chicago Scrapers. He fell for Violet the very first time he saw her but she was taken. He had seen her a number of times after that but she never saw him, she only had eyes for one man. He never actually met her until years later when she was still grieving and he was determined if nothing else that he would be her friend even though he knew that would never be enough for him.

I loved the characters in this book but my favorite one wasn't Violet or ever Cam, even though I did love both of them. My favorite was Felix, Violet's best friend. He was hilarious, somewhat crude at times but also very protective of Violet. All of the characters in this book were great, even the one that didn't start off that way grew on me after he changed his attitude. It's a story about second chances and that sometime people get lucky and find that once in a lifetime love not once but twice.

I believe that this is the third book that talks about these characters but they each follow their own story line and can each be read as a stand-alone. Case in point, I have not read the other books and while I could tell that a few of the other characters had their own book from the way that they were mentioned, I didn’t feel as though I had missed anything. It just made me want to purchase the other books and since I loved the authors writing style, I can assure you that I will.

Gifted for an honest review – 5 stars

Third book in the New Point series focuses on Violet, Stella’s best friend and her struggle to right her life after the death of her husband. The book begins with two prologues; Cameron’s and Violets. It’s an unusual way to start but it most definitely tugs the reader in. Both are so different that you wonder how on earth this pair is going to get together. I have read the first New Point novel but unfortunately haven’t managed to catch up with the second, I was a little worried I wouldn’t be able to follow this as clearly as I would have liked. It really wasn’t that much of an issue in all honesty and I read it no problem.

These books are really good; you come away with a really great feeling after wards. The style of writing fits beautifully with the type of story the author penned. If you’re looking for a hot between the sheets kind of read then this isn’t really for you. This is a sit down and think kind of book, one you get immersed in, lost in the emotion. Make no bones about it as this is heavy on that front. I mean it has to be considering the subject matter.

Violet and Cameron are two characters that you will fall in love with. The character depth is all there and I really liked the fact that although Cam was a single guy and played the field, it wasn’t really written about. Yes, there’s reference to it but it’s not in detail and this is the tome of the book. It’s not an alpha bad boy meets broken girl and voila….it’s so much more! Violet is so lost, trying to drag herself out of her grief. Olivia got that so right, she didn’t wallow her character too much but rather focused on her coming back to her life and that was really something to read. To see Violet come back to her own by herself. And to watch Cameron wait. Sigh…it was such a beautiful read. There was a character in here that probably could have caused a bit more conflict in the plot than she did, I wasn’t getting why she didn’t as the potential was there. I think that would be my only negative for this fantastic book.

I loved it and would highly recommend this. Next is Iris, again I think that will pull emotional punches with the reader in much the same way as this and the previous New Point books. If you haven’t read this author yet then you are seriously missing out!

4.5 Stars

This is the first book I've read by Olivia Luck, but I plan on reading more when I get the chance! It's my favorite sports-related NA book so far.

Cam is a star hockey player and a ladies man. He never even thought of settling down until the moment he sees Violet. He knows that's her name because of the man, on bended knee in front of her, asking her to marry him. A sliver of disappointment shoots through Cam, and he wonders if he'll ever have something like that. Then he wonders where the heck that thought came from.

Violet can't believe her luck, Max wants to marry her. She didn't even look at the ring, not caring about the diamond, only the man, her firefighter. Time passes, then one night, she's awakened by a knock on the door. The clock reads 1 a.m., she knows what has happened before she even opens the door. Max has died on the job. Grief consumes her.

A year later, Violet is still not functioning too well. But she is starting to let go. Her first step is getting a job planning an event for the Chicago Scrapers, a professional hockey team. From that moment on, she begins the journey to heal her heart and Cam is determined to fill it with love again.

If they were to make this into a movie, I would suggest Charlie Hunnam for Cam. He is fun, strong-willed, and protective. He never over-steps the boundaries when it comes to Violet. He expresses patience and understanding for her situation, which is exactly what she needs.

It made me happy when Violet finally decided to entice Cam. That moment also lead up to one of my favorite parts, "the big kiss" scene. Of course, I was only tricked into believing they would be more after that. But once Violet marked some things off her new list, she comes up with a plan to get Cam's attention, achieving the ending I wanted. The only list you need for this book, however, is:

1) Buy
2) Read
3) Enjoy!

Highly Recommended!

ARC provided by publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I am a sucker for Olivia Luck's books. Period. She has a way of writing that speaks to me and "gives me the feels" without being overly dramatic. Her characters are very normal and real. While I like to read to see how different people handle different things that life throws at them, I also like to read about people that are strong and resilient and thoughtful.

At the end of Pressure Point, we find out that the heroine in that book (Stella) loses her cousin that she is incredibly close to Max. This story is about Max's widow, Violet. The book starts with the Hero, Cameron (Cam), seeing Violet for the first time. In a strange twist of events, Cam is actually witnessing Violet being proposed to by Max in a restaurant. He feels a connection to her that he doesn't quite understand and I loved this scene because it was unique and kind of an eye opener for Cameron. Then sometime later, we are with Violet when she gets the dreaded knock on the door at 1 am. Max was a firefighter and didn't make it out of an apartment fire.

From there we see Violet trying to put her life back together while we see Cameron struggling with what he feels like is his destiny with Violet. I loved the way these characters were patient and didn't jump into anything. There was a lot of thought behind their actions and their love was slow growing which I found refreshing.

Cameron is a hockey player and while we know he has typical hockey player ways, we aren't really shown that in this book which in all honesty was rather refreshing. We also learn more about Violet and her past and how her past made her who she is today. I really understood Violet as a character after we find out about her family and their beliefs.

This book was a wonderful take at healing and finding love again. I enjoyed every word and as usual can't wait for the next story in the series.

POINT OF NO RETURN is the third book in Olivia Luck's Point series, and concentrates on the story of Cam and Violet. Violet, Stella's best friend, is still grieving over the death of her husband. As a twenty-seven year old widow, she feels lost, trapped between a life with Max and a life without Max. When Stella and Dominic - Max's twin brother - convince Violet to take a job as an event planner for an upcoming Scrapers fundraiser, she is thrown back into the world she had been hiding from.

This book is wonderful, with the point of view switching between Cameron and Violet in a way that allows us within the minds and hearts of each, without feeling disjointed. The story actually starts before Violet and Max get married, as Cam tells us about the first time he saw her... the day she got engaged. From that point, his heart was taken, though he was respectful and never tried to get between her and Max, and even waited for more than a year after his death to even bring himself to Violet's attention, understanding that she wasn't ready... and may wouldn't ever be ready.

The author has done a great job of showing Violet in the greiving process, making it real: fraught with indecision, feelings of guilt, and sadness. But we also learn - along with Violet - that you can't let sadness overtake your life, and that your loved ones would want you to move on and be happy. There were several points in the book that I cried, feeling what Violet was going through. I felt that the author did a great job at bringing the character to life and fleshing out their feelings, motivations, and personalities.

This is not a stand-alone book, and you really will want to read the first two in the series - NEW POINT and PRESSURE POINT - to fully understand and enjoy the events and characters.
