Potocnik Hat Trick Drives Blue Streaks Past Muskegeon In Men's Soccer

Trent Guy and the Blue Streaks rolled to a 5-1 win on Saturday
Box Score John Carroll spent 90 frustrating minutes peppering the DePauw goal to no avail on Friday.

On Saturday, the Blue Streaks had much better fortune.

Brian Potocnik scored three goals and assisted on another as John Carroll blasted Muskegeon College of Michigan, 5-1, this evening in Ada, Ohio, as part of the Ohio Northern Invitational.

The Blue Streaks actually trailed early on in this contest, as Muskegeon shocked JCU with a goal less than six minutes in. Charlie Wick dribbled through traffic and found the back of the net for a 1-0 Muskegeon lead.

John Carroll had a quick answer, as Mariusz Trzeciak scored less than two minutes later off a feed from Kevin Pachuta to tie the match. In the 10th minute, Potocnik scored the first of his three goals with Jacob Lombardo providing the assist.

The score remained 2-1 as the teams headed to the break.

Pachuta broke things open with his first goal of 2014 in the 55th minute, followed by Potocnik goals in the 69th and 71st minute.

Potocnik now has 23 goals and 23 assists in his career at JCU.

John Carroll outshot Muskegeon 24-4. Counting Friday's match against Depauw, JCU had a 41=13 edge in shots for the weekend.

With the win, JCU is now 1-1 on the season, while Muskegeon falls to 0-2.
