The Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center of Houston invites people to discover meaningful Judaism with its Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning. The Melton School uses a pluralistic curriculum, created by the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, to explore the texts of Jewish tradition and investigate issues of Jewish thought, practice, ethics and history.

The Melton Core Program encompasses four courses which participants take over two years. Year One includes Rhythms of Jewish Living and Purposes of Jewish Living. Year Two includes Ethics of Jewish Living and Dramas of Jewish Living.

During June only, the ERJCC offers a discount on regular tuition to anyone who registers for the fall Melton Core program, which begins during the week of Sept. 8. Participants will have three options to choose from:

The first option will take place on Tuesday mornings at the ERJCC West Houston from 9:15-11:30 a.m. Rabbi Annie Belford of Temple Sinai and Rabbi Gideon Estes, of Congregation Or Ami, will teach.

The second will take place on Tuesday evenings at the ERJCC, from 7-9:15. Rabbi Jill Levy of the ERJCC and Rice University lecturer Dr. Melissa Weininger will teach.

The third will take place Wednesday mornings at the Robert M. Beren Academy, from 8:30-10:45. Beren instructor Mindeleah Pollak and Beren parent, Rabbi Ranon Teller of Congregation Brith Shalom, will teach.

To register or for information, visit erjcchouston.org/melton, or contact local Melton director Rabbi Samantha Safran at [email protected] or 713-729-3200, ext. 3322.
