:::: SPOILER-FREE REVIEW ::: 6 STARS!!! ::::

Finding Eden is the continuation of Becoming Calder.

HOLY WOW. This. Was. Breathtaking!!!!! The pure, raw, heart-wrenchingly powerful emotions, the exquisite writing, and the way every single piece of the story came together was perfection. This story truly makes you believe in undying, unconditional love. It is one of the very BEST series I've ever read. 6 STARS!!

Every single emotion from Becoming Calder came flooding back the moment I started reading this. Just a few pages in and I already had tears in my eyes. A few pages after that and they were streaming down my face. Shivers ran down my body as the magnitude of what was happening to these characters truly hit me.

I read chapter after chapter completely overwhelmed with the raw emotions this story evoked. This isn't a story you just read, this is a story you experience with all your heart and soul. You live it. It takes over your senses until the world fades away and there's just you and the words you're reading.

"Sometimes I imagine the rain is him. If I'm alone, I turn my face into it and I can feel him. I'll never have a place where I can visit him, and so I'm with him in the rain."

There's a particular moment -- and you'll know it when you get to it -- that is, honest to God, one of the most powerful moments I've ever read in a book. I just broke down sobbing. But they were tears of happiness. It was literally the most beautiful scene you can imaging and I was ugly sobbing. There was noise. The way it was written with that powerful build up, the momentum of the rising intensity, and the way all the pieces of the story fell into place leading up to that one heart-stopping moment was just incredible.

But that wasn't it. The more I read, the more these moment would just hit me over and over again. I read this whole book cover to cover with my hand over my heart, and every few pages I'd just take in a deep calming breath. I clung to every word and every few pages, I'd read a particular line and tears would just pour down my face again. It was the most amazing experience and I loved every single word.

Just to be clear though, these were not tears of sadness. They were literally just a result of my deep emotional attachment to these characters. More than anything, this story makes you believe in the healing power of love. Calder and Eden's undying love for each other got them through the worst life could throw at them. I'd seen them grow up, I'd seen them fall in love, I'd seen everything they sacrificed for each other, I'd seen them face the ultimate devastation, and I saw them survive. I saw their love survive.

"I never stopped loving you. I never will. Ever."

I haven't mentioned anything about the plot in this book on purpose because this story is the second half of Becoming Calder and you shouldn't know anything other than that before you start it. What I can say though is that everything that I wanted to see happen was shown. In every way, this is a complete story.

This is a book you'll want to read as slowly as you can to appreciate every single beautiful word at the same time as wanting to read it as fast as you possibly can to find out what happens next.

I finished the story overflowing with happiness and I sat there for the longest time just absorbing the story, reliving every moment from the beginning in Becoming Calder to the breathtaking conclusion in Finding Eden. Looking back on the entire story, I realize just how carefully planned it truly was. Everything -- every last detail -- happened for a reason. Every single piece of their journey had a purpose and it all came together to create one of the most powerful and captivating stories you can imagine.

Mia Sheridan's writing is exquisite. Even though I have loved all her books, there's no doubt for me that this is her best story yet. I couldn't put it down even for a minute. I have quotes highlighted on nearly every page and the emotional hangover of the century. Her words build you up, they break you down, and then put you back together better than you ever were to begin with.

"I know the goodness in you Calder, I do, more than anyone. I know the tenderness of your heart, and I know all that was taken from you. I know all the dreadful sorrow inside of you. I live it, too. I know. I know. But I also believe we are going to be okay -- we are going to love so hard and with so much intensity, that it's going to melt away all the pain."

Becoming Calder was easily a 5+ star book. Everything about it -- from the writing, to the story, to the emotions, to the message -- was EPIC. But looking back on the complete story from both books with the perspective and experience of having read Finding Eden, there's no doubt in my mind that together, this is worthy of 6 STARS. It just went above and beyond. There is literally nothing else like this out there. It's easily the best series of the year in every possible way. Everyone should read it!!!

Calder and Eden's powerful, captivating, and epic love story is forever imprinted on my heart. It's a story I know I'll re-read many times over and still never get enough of it. It's absolutely unforgettable.

Rating: 6 STARS!!! (Contemporary Adult Romance)

Becoming Calder and Finding Eden together tell a complete story about the same couple. Both books are now live.

“Whatever the highest rating is, that’s what I give that work of art.”

“Five stars.” she grinned.

“Five life changing, extremely satisfied stars.” I said, smirking and raising both eyebrows.

These two books have really been something special. Mia Sheridan has outdone her self. The story itself is epic. The writing- phenomenal. The characters- completely and utterly unforgettable. Becoming Calder and Finding Eden are two books you will not want to miss out on.

Calder and Eden. Last we saw them, their futures were so uncertain. Unstable. Both of these characters have unwavering strength. There is so much I want to say about this story. SO so much. It just wouldn’t be right. I can’t risk spoiling it for anyone.

While reading this beautiful and completely unique book, my emotions were all over the place. There were moments you couldn’t wipe the smile off my face. I actually laughed out loud a few times. Moments my heart was crushed, my jaw had dropped to the floor. There were tears of sorrow and tears of joy. Parts were I was beyond frustrated, and then parts where I felt so whole and complete just by reading. Gah. It’s such a feeling, reading books like this. It doesn’t happen nearly often enough, but when it does, it should be cherished. These are books I won’t be forgetting. So many quotes that just hit a cord with me. I highlighted so much.
“How could you be thankful for something when so much suffering was necessary to bring it to you? Or was that the very thing that defined real beauty- light after darkness? And maybe that was the whole point. If you constantly sought beauty in the most obvious places, in only the brightest of circumstances, perhaps you weren’t really looking for it at all.”

 photo b432e4ec-26cb-4e79-a2e4-0dcb2fdfe111_zps6a6b1ab5.jpg

Finding Eden is a beautiful, emotional, powerful and unforgettable. To put it simply- I fell in love with this book and I fell in love with the characters. The writing was incredible and painfully beautiful. This is a series that will stay with you. You'll be thinking about it for days after you read. It’s just brilliant. I would highly recommend these to all readers. <3
“I think we have to focus on the beauty we’ve been given in this life, and make that the thing that defines us. Because people defined by bitterness end up destroying themselves from the inside out, and eventually the destroy everyone who tries to love them, too. That’s not going to be us.”

What an amazing conclusion the Calder & Eden's absolutely unique and breathtaking love story which began with the 1st book, Becoming Calder......(see my review here .. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2... ).

Finding Eden picks up just after the shocking ending to Becoming Calder and we see how Calder and Eden are now having to face living in a world that they never imagined existed, struggling with loss and heartache and pain and what they have to face before being reunited again.
 photo images_zpsk9yhjdds.jpg
The story is told through dual POV so we are able to look into both their thoughts and feelings as they journey to finding each other.

The eventual reunion is amazing.....rediscovering and healing each other

Calder and Eden are one of the most unique characters.....how these two were ever able to get through all the pain and heartache in their lives and still come through strong and intact....still able to believe in the good in the world....

This story made me think about a lot of things in life.......it inspired me to think that despite the knocks that life gives you.....there is always something good that can come out of it.......that you can still find light and laughter there somewhere....
 photo tumblr_lsmhb9nHuX1r48iweo1_500_zps2x75xhhq.jpg
The writing is beautiful and the author transported me into the story from the very beginning. She made me feel what the characters felt............The quote below just flipping blew me away....
“You listen to your heart, Jack. And you listen to the voice that comes to you when you close your eyes. You'll know it because it will be something between a feeling and a whisper. And that voice? Jack, if your heart is good like yours is, that voice never, ever lies.”
An unforgettable story.

One of my favorite reads this year.

In this conclusion to Calder and Eden's story we learn that in the end love conquers all. Calder and Eden are free from Acadia but are haunted by the memories of it. They'll be separated for a good amount of time, each thinking the other died during the flood. They're trying to get on with their lives but finding it hard because their other half is gone. Eden meets a very generous man who takes her in and hires her as his grand daughter's piano teacher. He grows fond of her and in the end helps her to find her real mother.

She and Calder run into each other at an art gallery exhibit where his paintings are being sold. All the paintings are of their Spring from Acadia and of her silhouette. I just about cried my eyes out during their reunion. The way the author describes the scene, it was so very easy to visualize the joy and the pain these two were feeling . It was one of my favorite parts of the story.

There are a few minor conflicts that come up but they manage to face them head on and prove that nothing can ever tear them apart.

Calder and Eden will uncover the truth about Acadia and Hector's past. What inspired him to create Acadia and what eventually drove him to madness. Calder will also find out his true identity.

I loved how everything comes full circle at the end and that these two beautiful people end up with the HEA they so justly deserved!

Finding Eden

The entire story is totally captivating and reached right into my book soul, rocked my heart and made me so very, very content.

I'm not going to give any specific details regarding the story for fear of spoiling the way in which this two book series deserves to be uncovered. What I wish to convey is how this enchanting story made me feel, and the quality of the writing. I wish to offer a glimpse of the wonder that is Finding Eden.

We learn the reasons and motivations for everything…. It's compassionate and sensitively written with complex layers of emotions, thoughts and feelings. So much attention and care is given as to how our beloved characters find themselves in their given situations. We learn the extent of Hectors wrong doings.

The way time moved, hurt my heart.

Finding Eden has page upon page of beautiful words packed with meaningful and thought provoking content. I was so entranced and involved in the happenings that the mere mention of a past event, the simple thought in a characters mind could set my emotions off. It felt real, tangible, never sensationalized.... I saw pictures in the writing, I felt a real sense of time, placement and human feeling. So many emotions are explored and all of them are truthful and honest.

There's beauty and love even in the darkest places.... There's always hope.

There is one point in the book and I literally could not read it or turn the page quick enough through my tears of heartache, joy and hope. The anticipation of what was happening, and what I hoped was about to happen, was immense.

Finding Eden is sensually HOT! Calder and Eden have grown up and it shows. I felt their closeness and intense connection deep inside my book heart. They found peace in one another’s bodies which was glorious to read. I smiled, laughed and cried with them, I felt like I was part of their inner circle....

If you love FORBIDDEN LOVE STORIES
If you love ROMANCE laced with ANGST
If you love characters that TOUCH your HEART
If you love BEAUTIFULLY written CAPTIVATING stories that keep revealing until the very end......
Then you simply have to read Becoming Calder & Finding Eden

Mia Sheridan is the queen of beautiful, effortless writing. Finding Eden is truly exquisite and left me with that perfect, contented book feeling.

Note: Finding Eden is the second part in a two book series in which we're given a dual point of view. It's essential to read Becoming Calder first.

To be blunt, I didn’t love this book as much as I did the first. The beautiful writing is still there alongside the endearing main characters but I just wasn’t invested in the story. I’m not a big fan of time gaps nor do I like overly sweet and sappy dialogues in place of the plot. But for the most part Finding Eden is a heartwarming continuation of Calder and Eden’s story and one I’m sure most readers will fully enjoy. Because this book builds on the story set in Becoming Calder I’m not going to reveal too much of the plot here since they’re going to be spoilers.

While the first book was focused exclusively on Calder and Eden’s relationship development in their isolated community, this second book deviated a little from that. This story was all about dealing with the aftermath of the events in book 1 and very much a journey of self-discovery for both Eden and Calder as individuals as opposed to a couple. Calder needed to find a way to cope with all the guilt he harbors and Eden has to combat the loneliness and sorrow within her in order for both of them to move on.

description

This author’s writing has always been intensely beautiful and elegant, and it shows in this book. There are several heartfelt and touching moments sprinkled in the story, enough to induce tears. Both Calder and Eden are wonderful characters and they’re the kind of couple you can’t help but root for no matter how unfavorable their circumstances are. But sadly, I was unfazed by most of their poignant moments and even got a little tired of their dialogues professing eternal love for one another (I get it, they love each other). If I am to be completely honest with you, no one but myself is to blame for me not feeling the story. I picked this book up while I was in the middle of the Mortal Instrument series and my heart was with that book couple the entire time.

If you’re going to read this two-part series, I highly recommend you read them back-to-back. Maybe if I did that this book would’ve made a bigger impression on me like the first one did. Taken as a whole, however, Calder and Eden’s journey is well worth the read. These two books tell a story of an enduring and unconditional love between two beautiful characters and revealed depths about the beauty of forgiveness and second chances.

An AMAZING conclusion to BECOMING CALDER!
Eden said it best, “Five life change, extremely satisfied stars.”

At the time of my review FINDING EDEN does not have a book blurb. To be fair to the upcoming readers of this 2-part series I’m going to make this short and sweet.

Finding Eden continues on where Becoming Calder left off. Even though their circumstances are unfavorable these two continue to be some of the strongest characters I've read in a long time.

Eden remains her genuine gentle spirit that we met in the first book. She has a quiet strength about her that endears others to her.

Calder is a beautiful, tortured man. Although he is free from his past he is still left feeling trapped and worthless.

Calder & Eden have lived with so many lies that to watch their growth is remarkable. Their unwavering love is endearing and their story is captivating. I devoured this book in one sitting.

description

The plot is so unforgettably unique. Even though, I've finished I still sometimes find myself daydreaming about these two books. Both books made me an emotional, jumbled-up mess. I went from smiling and laughing to crying and wanting to smash my kindle and then back to smiling. The jaw dropping moments made my heart clench and had tears spilling from my eyes. AND in the end it was AWESOME 2-part series that I soon won't be forgetting.

The continuation of Calder and Eden's story is full of emotion and revelations. Page after page, this book was filled with such raw, powerful, all-encompassing feelings, it truly was a heart pounding experience.

For fear of revealing too much, all I will say is, Finding Eden was everything thing I hoped it to be. All my questions were answered and I was left with an overwhelming feeling of happiness for these two characters who have endured so much.

Finding Eden is a beautiful story of second chance romance, the incredible journey of two broken soul to rediscover oneself and their path of healing. FE is everything I want in romance novel-pure perfection of powerful love, dynamic display of emotions and two amazing heart with enormous amount of love, strength and innocence. This is a kind of story you want to live in, it’s filled with lot of swoon worthy and mesmerizing moments.

“But what I did know was that I loved a girl. And I knew I loved her in a way I'd never, ever recover from. I knew I loved her to the very core of myself. And I knew she loved me back.

The story picks up pretty much after the horrific ending of BC. Though Eden and Calder have survived the flood in Acadia killing everyone, they don’t realize the other’s existence until after three years when Eden finally reunites with her mother. Even with the epic reunion of Eden and Calder, they still deal with the ghosts of their past and threat of unpredictable future. With new found family they learn to accept the second chance at life, with each other they learn to comfort and support in their struggle with the new world and to move on from their tragic loss. This story also unravels mysteries of their disappearance and their cult leader Hector. All in all it was an Epic conclusion to a wonderful love story and I loved it!

“I love you, Butterscotch. You have the most beautiful heart of anyone I've ever met. And maybe you feel like a mess sometimes, and life is a mess sometimes, but the way I see it, you're the beauty that came from the mess.”

I've said it before I’ll say is again Mia Sheridan has magic in her words. Her story is captivating, it’s like she has cast some spell on you with her words, leaving you emotional your heart bursting with full of love and always keeps you wishing for MORE.

A beautiful love story in an unforgiving, harsh background. That's how I'd describe Eden and Calder's relationship in the previous book. And I really really wanted them to find their way back to each other after the wretched things they went through at the hands of a fanatic psychopath. So, I had high hopes for this one. I even thought I might end up liking Calder more than Archer (from Archer's voice, who we can all agree is the best book boyfriend ever), but I had several issues with Calder in this sequel.
There's a 3 year leap from when the last book ends. Both Calder and Eden believe they're the only one to survive. So you can imagine the angst. But Calder finds himself a new girlfriend, even though he repeatedly claims he'll always love Eden. Just to be clear, I don't think you have to be in love with someone to have sex with them. But this guy strings along a girlfriend knowing very well that he'll never be able to reciprocate her feelings and drops her like trash the second Eden pops up back in his life. Some of the things Madison recounts made me cringe. Like, painting Eden's face after sleeping with Madison, every damn time. And his bestfriend trying to justify everything by saying that the girl pursued him in the first place.(!!)
Whaaaat an idiot.
As happy as I'm that Eden got the boy she's loved all her life, I felt bad for Madison, even if she acted like a bitch.
There were some new characters in this book, almost all of them a delightful additional. Especially, Eden's cousin. And it was great to see that Xander survived the ordeal as well. While Eden's past seems pretty pleasant, Calder's get murkier than ever. So I'm gonna cut him some slack. But it's still Archer Hale for me!
Maybe because I loved the first book so much and put it on a pedestal, I didn't find Finding Eden that great. A decent read, sure. But not on par with it's predecessor. The writing was as beautiful as ever but the sex scenes got repetitive and I skimmed through most of them. The epilogue was perfect though. Since the last book ended on a cliffhanger, this one felt necessary. But don't go into this with high expectations. A 3.5 starrrer on a good day.

What a powerful conclusion for Calder and Eden! Mia Sheridan skillfully brought their story to a close as these two were left thinking the other had died in that mass suicide back in Arcadia. They struggle to acclimate to the modern world without the love of their lives.

Honestly, when I got to the “three years later” heading I was panicked I thought I was in for chapters upon chapters of waiting but the author doesn’t drag it out in the slightest. Our couple comes face to face and in fact it was a truly a heart stopping scene. Their love is as strong as ever as is their need to be with together and help heal each other.

”Do you still love me, Calder? Am I the only woman you want?”

“God, yes,” he said before I’d even gotten the last word fully out. I breathed out and then sniffled. “I love you, too.” Warmth filled his eyes.

“I never stopped loving you. I never will. Ever.”

Eden has been working for a family teaching piano and is gifted with insight into her background and so she goes to find her family. The reveals and twists in this story don’t stop till the last page and it was truly a journey for both characters as well as my guy Xander. During those three years, Calder has finally started painting but all he paints is his girl and their spring and through these paintings our couple unites.

Eden and Calder do a lot of healing not only in the Bed of Healing but facing the truths of their pasts in the public eye while learning who they are now that the horror of Arcadia is over.

description ”I love you, Butterscotch. You have the most beautiful heart of anyone I’ve ever met. And maybe you feel like a mess sometimes, and life is a mess sometimes, but the way I see it, you’re the beauty that came from that mess.”

”I love you, Morning Glory. It’s always been your heart that kept me alive. Your love. Your sweetness. I painted you to keep you alive, and that’s what kept me breathing, too.” description

There are bumps along the way but their love for one another is never in question. The action and twists didn’t quit during this book. The police are involved, there is also a missing person’s case, a crocked cop, Calder’s identity is revealed and our couple stands together through it all.

Overall this was a fabulous ending for a unique story that was very exciting and oh so swoonworthy. I want to thank Mia Sheridan for Calder and Eden.

I will not be long on this one because I don’t want to spoil it. After the end of the last book things were a little…. uncertain.
Calder and Eden don’t know where the other one is. They don’t know who they really are and what will become of their future. And the time passes… until the day destiny reunites them again and one thing they know for sure: nothing will ever be the same.
This was a beautiful journey of second chances and a love so strong that never died. It’s a journey about self-discovering, about overcoming the past and discovering that when someone is your destiny, nothing you’ll keep apart forever.
So sit down, grab a coffee and get ready for an amazing ride.

Loved the previous book (finding Calder) so I couldn’t wait to jump back into this oftentimes scary world this author had created.
This was the perfect conclusion, the epilogue even got me teary eyed and was so fitting with the storyline. This duet wrung out so many emotions and it’s sad closing that last page and saying goodbye to these two characters.

5 MORNING GLORY STARS! ★★★★★

"I love you, Butterscotch. You have the most beautiful heart of anyone I've ever met. And maybe you feel like a mess sometimes, and life is a mess sometimes, but the way I see it, you're the beauty that came from the mess."

As I write this review, I'm still reeling over how breathtaking this 2-part series is. There is nothing more that I love when a story comes back full circle and what an absolutely beautiful ending that Mia Sheridan has delivered here. Tears were pooling in my eyes as I flipped to the last page and everything since Becoming Calder just came back together perfectly.

*********

Finding Eden is the second book in a 2-part series inspired by the astrological zodiac of Aquarius and depicts the forbidden love story of Calder and Eden.

I can't divulge into the plot of this one as it would give away spoilery details from Becoming Calder. This book picks off from the ending of Book 1 and even before 10% into the book, I was already in tears reading it. There were so many plot revelations that made me understand better the events in Book 1 and I really appreciated that as some of the events in the prior book left me feeling a little dissatisfied.

*********

I don't know if I should blame my unstable girly hormones or Mia's exquisite writing for my constant tearing up, but what I do know is my strong fierce love for this couple. I would be lying if I said I was not utterly consumed by their unconditional love and every scene was even more powerful than the last.

Admittedly I thought I would get sick of their endless profession of love and be diabetic by the end of it, but surprisingly I wasn't. Mia continued to deliver these flawless lines that made me want to relish every single moment of it.

"And we'll spend as much time as we need just escaping from the world. That's our plan because I swear to you, my beautiful, sweet love, everyone deserves a love story that doesn't hurt."

My heart went through a turmoil with this read; it left me overwhelmed with a multitude of emotions from frustration to soaring happiness to anger and mostly heart-wrenched. But I loved every single moment of it. In fact, I fell in love so hard with this series, these endearing characters and their emotional journey. I would do it all over again.

"We were the love." I whispered. "In that moment, we were the love."

*********

Overall, Becoming Calder/Finding Eden will go down as one of the most unforgettable series I've come to love. It's one of those series that you simply just have to read to experience and feel and let it consume you. Mia Sheridan not only just delivered a powerful love story, but a story that speaks volume on the power of healing and forgiveness.

“We have to figure out how to forgive, not for the people who wronged us, but for us. We can't keep bitterness attached to our hearts because eventually, it might become part of us—so deeply ingrained we can't work it back out. I think we have to focus on the beauty we've been given in this life, and make that the thing that defines us.”

Just a fair warning would be that this series does touch on the subject matter of religious cult (rather heavily in Becoming Calder but almost none in Finding Eden) and may come off uncomfortable for some readers.

But if you could look past that, then I would highly recommend this series to anyone who is looking for a refreshing read from the usual NA contemporaries, doesn't mind sugary sweet and is a complete sucker for forbidden love.

5 A True Understand of Hope
* * * * * Spoiler Free
We experience much in each of our lives. The pain and suffering for each of us is personal and real... there is no chart to say yours is level 5 and mine is a level 8... each person suffers and it is their experience... it is equally hard for all of us and must live through it...

There are experiences we see or read about which defy a calculation or measure as a bystander... they are so alien to our own experiences, we cannot even imagine what these people have gone through; how they survived, are able to converse and function.

We have an insider's view of all of this in Finding Eden. This is the completion of Becoming Calder. My review is here (https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...).

This book picks up right where the other left off... and we go through a roller coaster ride of epic proportion. We are with Eden as she tries to make her way in a world she knows so little about. We are with her from the first words on the page...until the very last. This is a story which covers so much; I cannot even begin to approach all of it.

All I will say, so as not to ruin the journey, is Eden is one of the strongest women I have read. She instinctively has the fortitude to overcome insurmountable odds; the willingness to teach herself and understand the power of knowledge and continue to take control of her life. She may not be a biker babe... or any number of heroines which show strength... but in this book she has balls of steel... and an understanding of love and forgiveness beyond compare.

I am not going to ruin this book for you... if you are reading this review... then you already are interested in the series.
I am going to share, Ms. Sheridan almost gave me a heart attack a couple of times and my vision was blurred during most of my reading... but most of all....

I received such a gift... confirmation of my own beliefs in the power of love, of truth and the willingness to just share it with others.

We are all damaged one way or another... we all have the ability to heal... These two books could be a manual for a way through it...

“I’ll be waiting for you, by a spring. Come find me, I’ll be there.”

I rarely ache for a book. I might be curious about a story to the point of completely pausing reality and forgetting everything around me, but it doesn’t happen very often that my heart needs it, craves it, wants it so much that I cannot enjoy another in its stead. Becoming Calder pushed me out of my comfort zone by immersing me into a world that I like to pretend it doesn’t exist, and it made me fall in love with two of the most amiable, kind hearted characters I have ever come across. It made me see the world through different eyes, aware of how much of my own life I tend to take for granted, but it also left me utterly desperate for the sequel, willing to beg, steal and bribe for a mere peek at it. In this heart-stopping conclusion to a most extraordinary tale, after unthinkable loss and sorrow, we finally see life balancing itself out to make up for all that it has taken. While the first part of this story celebrated human resilience and our innate capacity to find love even under the direst of circumstances, in the second part, we get to see what happens to the human spirit once it is set free—free to grow at last, free to flourish, free to spread its wings, and free to love without restraint.

“Anything you want. If it exists in this world, it’s yours.”

The tragedy that our young heroine survived has changed her, made her afraid of the world around her, but all it takes is one random act of kindness from a complete stranger to give her hope and a reason to go on. Eden might have walked out of Acadia physically unscathed, but her heart is shattered. Her love for Calder is the only thing she knows, the only thing she has ever known, and it is still the only thing she clings onto. Now truly alone in the world, Eden has to find the strength to be her own person, to decide for herself what she wants to believe in, who she wants to be. But even when life finally offers her what she has always craved to have, the constant void inside her never stops reminding her of all that she has lost.

“I was still loved. I belonged to someone again.”

And yet, this is not a story about loss. This is a story about new beginnings, about the type of love that conquers all, about the endurance of the human spirit and its ability to heal itself even when weighed down by memories of a harrowing past. In a feat of sheer brilliance, we are also given the kind of story that tells us that there are two sides to every coin, showing us that the human spirit can sometimes break from mere powerlessness and despair. This is a story that challenges the assumptions we make about people, about their lives and their motivations, and it shows us that every demon has its own demons keeping it awake at night.

“I swear to you, my beautiful, sweet love, everyone deserves a love story that doesn’t hurt.”
“Even us?”
“Yes. I promise. Even us.”

There are so many moments in these two books that ripped my heart right out of my chest, made me forget how to breathe, but there is an unwavering current of hope and positivity driving this story forward, and it is that very message that we take away from it in the end—life can change a person, steer them off course, make them lose their way, but it is one’s heart that is the true measure of a person, each one of us deciding what defines us in the end. These characters are perfect examples of the kind of beauty that can come out of darkness, their strength and determination showing us that no matter how many times you strike down a wildflower, try to exterminate it or hinder its growth, it somehow always finds a way to live and bloom.

Every facet of this inspiring tale left me breathless, astonished, overwhelmed and overflowing with emotions, and I believe a tiny part of it will forever live inside me, reminding me to appreciate even the smallest moments of beauty in life. And one day when I grow old and wrinkly, the mere thought of a morning glory will still make my heart smile.

“As pretty as a flower . . . as strong as a weed.”

4 - 4.5 ★'s

This books picks right up where Becoming Calder leaves off, that is, the prologue does. So, we do get some answer but then we get even more questions!

I enjoyed this one so much more than Becoming Calder! They are finally free but now they have even more obstacles to overcome.

description

It's really hard to explain without telling you certain things but suffice it to say that Calder and Eden have some big adjustments to make.

There were a few things that were a bit of a stretch...not over the top necessarily but sometimes you just have to go with the flow. They didn't make the story unbelievable...just had me scratching my head a little!

There's a lot of heartbreak and angst in this one and I just loved all the emotional drama. I'm very thankful that MS didn't make us suffer as she very well could have. I loved the clever way in which she had Calder and Eden meet up!

description

Can I just say that the "healing bed" was amazing! It was definitely something the both of them sorely needed!

description

And thank goodness for Molly. Her character was wonderful and she just played such a great part in helping things move along!

I thought Eden and Calder's journey for answers was pretty interesting even though they weren't hard to figure out. I hated what Calder found out...hasn't he suffered enough? I wish that MS wouldn't have taken things that far. It was quite a bitter pill to swallow.

description

Of course, I loved the ending and especially the epilogue. I think that's just what they needed. I really wish that Xander had gone too.

Favorite quotes:

♥ "By the way, Calder Raynes, if we're all really going to heal, you need to confess about your strange Coca-Cola hoarding habit. I know you hide it all over your apartment."

♥ "Just so you know though, there's no reason to stop making those fluffernutter sandwiches."

♥ "You're so damn smart. You must have had a really good life teacher."

I laughed and sniffled. "I did. And he was hot, too. I wanted to do dirty things to him."

♥ "The first one was the past . . . that one's the future."

♥ "The voice will it always tell me the easiest thing to do?" he asked.

I smiled. "No. But it will always tell you the right thing to do."

Simply beautiful!

What can I say, this is Mia Sheridan and she’s simply one of the best authors there is. Her stories are just full of beauty. They are complex and clever and they keep you hooked the entire time. This duet is no exception, it’s absolutely perfect. I can’t ever recommend her books enough. She’s the best, and Eden and Calder’s story will stay in your heart forever!

From now on I’m just giving 1 star to books that have the H move on and sleep with other people but the h only ever sleeps with one person and saves herself forever. It’s stupid and kind of sexist like a girl can’t really love a guy if she sleeps with others or her love isn’t as real. He even tells her in the first book he would NEVER want to sleep with another girl, if she can keep it in her pants why can’t he?? automatic 1 star from now on.

This was such a sweet conclusion for Calder and Eden. I am so freaking happy right now and smiling so big my cheeks hurt.

After the way the last book ended, I had to dive into this one quickly. Due some things that happened in Becoming Calder Eden and Calder believe each other dead. They are separated and finally free. But, coping without the other is tough. That is as much as I want to say about what happens in this book. I don't want to give it all away. I will say that both Eden and Calder go through so much. They grow stronger and both try really hard to get use to being in the "big community".

I seriously love them both so much as a couple. I love how indestructible their love is. I cannot tell you how many times my heart melted and swooned for them both. I teared up many times as well, but they were mostly happy tears. There was definitely more hearts and flowers in this one than there was in the first and a lot less angst too, which I was glad about. I loved watching them rediscover each other. And that "Bed of Healing" scene, so freaking heart warming. My heart was a puddle of goo.

There were also moments of new discoveries that had me completely shocked. I couldn't believe some of the stuff that came to light. Not all of it was shocking in a bad way, there was some happy shocking moments that filled my heart with joy. I loved some of the new secondary characters, as well as the old. Xander I love to pieces and I'm hoping he gets a book of his own.

This was a unique epic love story. It is definitely one that I will never forget. The characters have earned a spot in my heart. It's just crazy to think how far they have come since they were children living in Acadia. They sacrificed so much to be with each other. It was an emotional, at times painful, but a very beautiful journey. The writing was stunning. I have no idea how Mia Sheridan came up with this. It's a book you will just have to read for yourself. It was amazing.

5 Life Changing Stars!

I finished Becoming Calder and immediately began Finding Eden without hesitation! I had to know what happened. I did not sleep…nope…Calder and Eden kept me tossing turning all night!

They were Separated by the waters from above and when the destruction receaded…what was left? For Eden…nothing. She roamed out into the world alone and broken. She found solace in a kind man who gave her a fighting chance at a life as well as her identity. But she would never truly move on.

So True for Calder…his life was nothing without Eden. He did not chose to live…he survived with his brother Xnder by his side using his gift of art to keep the memory of Eden alive. It was that same art that brought them face to face after years of longing! HOLY EMOTIONS!

They say you never forget your first love right? ABSO-FUCKING-LUTELY! Calder and Eden were made for one another. They were everything to one another…they represented the sacrifices of past and the light in the darkness. But how do you survive now in a free world with no identity? Are they strong enough to face the past? With outside pressure, bias, new age thinking, and everyday insecurities, how could they just pick up and start over?

“We agreed in ways both spoken and unspoken that the world was ugly and broken, and love was ridiculously dangerous and absurdly unsafe…and that we would love anyways. We would keep our fierce and tender hearts open…it felt like the bravest thing we’d ever do.”

I loved every beautiful word Mia Sheridan wrote here. I loved how much Calder and Eden loved one another and I was so thankful for the dual POV’s. Nothing was sweeter than Calder’s thoughts and emotions when it came to Eden. His need for her was so intense...it was hot! As for Eden…she was pure goodness as a child and that carried over into her adult life. Calder may have found her, but she was the reason he “became Calder!”

4-4.5 stars

Okay so for this book, I am torn between 4 and 4.5 stars. The writing style is awesome which makes me lead more towards 4.5 stars, but the whole GF thing - I enjoyed reading the reunion and the character growth in both of these amazing characters. Alas, because of the above spoiler, I have to say that Eden takes the cake in this book. I was glad though with all the drama from the first book that this follow up was pretty low angst. It goes without saying that I will read more from this author.

(BR with Mel and Patty)

I'm so happy I decided to read this book (huge thanks to my girls Patty and Mel, for encouraging me to) Finding Eden was a beautiful conclusion to a story where hope was nothing but a distant light...

I'm not going to describe any details of this novel, because I feel that anything I say could take away from allowing the reader from really experiencing and understanding it better. This book was the perfect compliment to the first book, where Becoming Calder was high intensity angst and heartbreaking, Finding Eden was about light and healing, absolutely lovely...

I loved the strength Eden possessed, she would find solace in the small things around her; the rain, the stars. Even when she felt like crumbling her spirit never faltered, inspiring everyone around her, including me. I truly enjoyed this book, the subject matter was complicated and difficult to process but leave it to this talented author to turn something that started so evil and make it utterly beautiful.
