12th Annual Brooks Memphis Twilight Classic is Saturday Night

MEMPHIS-One of the largest night-time cross country meets in America is back for another year Saturday night as Christian Brothers University hosts the 12th annual Brooks Memphis Twilight Classic Saturday night at Mike Rose Soccer Complex.

The Twilight will again be a featured meet for Flotrack.org. Flotrack will cover the entire event with highlight videos, interviews and more available at http://www.flotrack.org/coverage/251672-Brooks-Memphis-Twilight-2014.

Nearly 1,600 runners, representing 196 teams across nine different states, are registered for the high school races. Seven reigning high school state champions will compete in the race as well.

More than 340 runners will compete in the college races, representing 35 teams, including 17 NCAA Division I squads.

In all, more than 2,400 runners are registered for this year's meet, which features eight races beginning at 5:30 p.m. with a pair of 2k middle school races. Four high school 5k races follow, beginning with the junior varsity races at 6:30 p.m., with the girls' varsity race scheduled for 8:00 p.m. and the boys' varsity race set for 8:40 p.m. The college women's 5k race is at 9:20 p.m., with the college men's 4-mile race set for 10:00 p.m. to wrap up the night.

Admission to the meet is free, while parking costs $5 per car or $30 for a bus or RV.

The Brooks Memphis Twilight Classic started in 2003 with a field of 230 runners. It quickly grew into one of the largest night-time cross-country events in the nation.

In addition to Flotrack's coverage, results will be posted at both gobucsgo.com and alltraxtiming.com.
