The classical music of Persia is also known by the Iranian music and the sound and performance of the music is enjoyed by people across Persia. The actual sound of the music glitters minarets and desert landscape. Some leading musicians live in northern lights and the view of snow capped mountains. The origin of music

The Persian music which remains a traditional music of Iran provides a message to the audience, from the innermost consciousness of the artist. When looking towards the history of the traditional music, the full credit goes to King Jamshid for the invention of the music. The ancient music possesses an elaborate musical culture. The music was played during important function of worship and in courtly entertainment. The origin of the music is around 800 BC during the Archaemenid Empire, even Alexander the Great has witnessed the music. During this period, other musicians used various instrument such as bagpipes, flute, lutes and harps to play the music. Evidence shows the first written Iranian music is from Sassanid Period( 226-643CE). The famous court musician Barbod developed a musical system and 365 melodies associated with Iranian music.

About the music

The Classical music is based on series of modal scales and tunes which has to be memorized by the artist. The Iranian radio plays round the clock Iranian music to listeners all over the world. The diverse selection of music includes both hit songs and classic songs. Radio Javan introduces new Persian musicians and singers. The classical music its totally vocal based and the vocalist play music relating to the mood of the atmosphere. In many cases, they choose poems and most times, a singer is accompanied along with string instrument. In some songs, the musician is accompanied with a singer. Traditionally the music is performed by seated on decorating cushion and rugs. Most times, many candles are lit and a group of musicians and vocalist decide on which song they have to perform depending upon situations.

Instruments used

The instruments used in Persian music include the frame drum, long necked lutes tar, the end blown flute, the santur and the bowed spike fiddle. Some Persian musicians use the European violin as an alternative and later Piano was introduced from the west. Most of these instruments were originated in Iran. The Iranian radio is an internet based radio station and listeners can request for song online.
