Katie & Waffles' First Playdate #ThrowbackThursday

WAFFLES:  The Mighty Hunter stalks his –

WAFFLES:  Hey Boss, what's that thing-a-ma-jig you're playing with?

KATIE:  It's my fling-a-ma-string toy, Waffles.

WAFFLES:  Can I play with your fling-a-ma-jig?

KATIE:  Fling-a-ma-string, Waffles.

WAFFLES:  That's what I said. Fling-a-ma-thing.

KATIE:  How about you go fling your own thing somewhere else?

WAFFLES:  Jazz hands! Jazz hands!

KATIE:  *sigh*  And to think, this was only 21 days, 6 hours and 9 minutes into what would become known as the Waffles Invasion. Life as I knew it was gone forever.

WAFFLES:   Can I play with YOUR Fling-a-ma-thing?

About Today's Photos
Today's photos marked the first time Katie and Waffles actually engaged in something that resembled play. And as Katie noted, it was exactly 21 days, 6 hours and 9 minutes after Waffles came to live at the Townhouse. December 16, 2012 to be exact. Life may have never been the same since, but we've been loving every minute of it.

... just check out those MAN-paws on Waffles!

Waffles and His Groove Thing #ThrowbackThursday

WAFFLES:  Shake, shake, shake!  Shake, shake, shake!  Shake your– ♫♩

KATIE:  Waffles, why on earth are you flapping your arms like that?

WAFFLES:  These aren't my arms. They're my groove things.

KATIE:  Waffles, if you really want to be a connoisseur of 70s disco, you need to get your lyrics straight.

It's "Shake, shake, shake!  Shake, shake, shake!  Shake your BOOTY."

OR it's "Shake your groove thing, shake your groove thing. Yeah, yeah."

So which is it, your booty or your groove thing?

KATIE:  ... did I really just sat that?

WAFFLES:  So what's the difference between a booty and a groove thing??

About Today's Photos
Today we're throwing it back all the way to February 5, 2013. Although Waffles only about 5 months old, he was growing like a weed. Every chance he got, he'd try and make himself look as big as he could next to Katie.

But instead of looking big, he just looked goofy. Oh Waffles, we can't help but love you.

Email from the Vet #ThrowbackThursday

Today's photos may be vet visit throwbacks, but today's subject is very much today. On every level.
WAFFLES:  Hey Boss, did you get the email?

KATIE:  What email?

WAFFLES:  From the vet email?

KATIE:  Waffles, that's just spam.

WAFFLES:  You mean like ham?

KATIE:  No, like junk. I deleted that thing a long time ago. In fact I now delete all emails from the vet.

WAFFLES:  Uh, Boss? Then how come these are opened up on Glogirly's computer?

KATIE:  I knew I should have wiped that server.

About Today's Photos
Waffles' photo was taken way back in 2013 at his second-ever vet visit. Katie's are from her wellness check up last year. But those emails... well, they're from just a few days ago.

Looks like we've got some fun in our future!

Scratcher Possession is Nine-Tenths of the Law #ThrowbackThursday

KATIE:  Pssst... I'm about to give Waffles his first lesson in the laws of cat scratcher ownership. I don't have much faith that he'll understand, let alone remember today's class. But in an effort to make my world a better place, I must try.

KATIE:  Waffles at 2 o'clock.

WAFFLES:  Hey Boss. Whatcha doing?

KATIE:  Lounging on my scratcher.

WAFFLES:  Can I lounge on the scratcher?

KATIE:  You mean on my scratcher?

WAFFLES:  How do you know it's your scratcher and not my scratcher?

KATIE:  Well nevermind I was here first –

WAFFLES:  Ok, I don't mind.

KATIE:  That's not what I meant, Waffles. When it comes to stuff like scratchers, possession is nine-tenths of the law. That means this scratcher is mine.

WAFFLES:  So you have to do math to get stuff??? Like 1 + 1 = 11???

KATIE:  Yeah, good luck with that Waffles.

WAFFLES:   Glogirly says all I have to do is look cute and I can have whatever I want. Cute is WAY better than math.

About Today's Photos
Waffles was still learning the ropes when these photos were taken back in January of 2013. He was barely 4 months old. Katie had her paws full trying keep him off of her stuff. That first scratcher lesson didn't go too well. What Waffles lacked in etiquette, he made up for in confidence.

Both he and Katie have come a long way. Waffles shows Katie selective respect. And Katie shows Waffles selective tolerance. Selective though, is the operative word.

The Day the World Turned Upside Down #ThrowbackThursday

Today's #ThrowbackThursday takes us WAY back to that first week of the Waffles Invasion. December 1, 2012. Katie's world may have been turned upside down, but even she would have to admit that fireball of orange fur has kind of grown on her. He's sure grown on us.

WAFFLES: Hey! Who turned the world upside down?

KATIE:  No KIDDING, who turned the world upside down!

WAFFLES:  There. That's better!

KATIE:  Well that's certainly a matter of opinion.

Waffles' First Halloween & First Dress #ThrowbackThursday

WAFFLES:  Hey Boss, can I borrow your hat?

KATIE:  You can HAVE this ridiculous hat.

WAFFLES:  Cool! It matches my dress.

KATIE:  You do realize that dresses are typically for girls don't you? And by girls, I mean the two-legged kind. No self-respecting cat would be seen in satin, not to mention a tulle skirt.

WAFFLES:  Tool skirt? You mean like for my tools and stuff?

KATIE:  *sigh*

WAFFLES:  I bet the ladies really like a mancat who knows where to put his tools.

KATIE:  Waffles, I'm not going to touch that one. This is supposed to be a G-rated blog.

About Today's Photos
October, 2013. Waffles' first Halloween and his first dress. Apparently the warlock costumes were sold out at PetSmart. No worries though. Ever since he was just a few months old, Waffles has been very comfortable embracing his feminine side. Over two years later, he's still trying to get Katie to embrace his feminine side. Ok, he just wants her to embrace any of his sides.

We were all just playing around with costumes on a Saturday afternoon in October. Katie and Waffles are both very good sports when it comes to wearing their harnesses. So occasionally we try out a costume as long as it's styled like a harness. But we've since hung up our hats. Both Katie and Waffles have decided that cats in hats belong in Dr. Seuss books, not here in the Townhouse.

To Touch or Not to Touch #ThrowbackThursday

WAFFLES:  Hey Boss! I'm KING OF THE WOR– uh, I mean I'm  KING OF THE WHITE CHAIR!

KATIE:  Looks more like you're king of those ginormous paws, Waffles.

WAFFLES:  All the better to touch you, Boss.

KATIE:  And, Waffles. What did I tell you about touching me?

WAFFLES:  Uh, I forget.

KATIE:  Seriously? Were we not  just having this conversation?

WAFFLES:  What conversation?

KATIE:  The touching conversation?

WAFFLES:  Awww, Boss. That's really touching.

KATIE:  I got your touching.

About Today's Photos
Today's photos were taken on March 6, 2013. That would make Waffles barely 7 months old and Katie 7 years old. Waffles was becoming more and more serious about testing the limits with Katie. And Katie was only beginning to perfect her defensive skills.

To this day, Waffles LOVES to touch Katie. Every morning while their breakfast is being prepared, Waffles will sit really close to her, reach out with his giant paw and touch her chest, just below her chin. He does it in slow motion and often accompanies it with a long, drawn out meow.

About 50% of the time there's a smack down and the other 50% of the time there's a stare down.

And about 95% of the time, the win goes to Katie.

Still, Waffles is pretty proud of his 5%.

Waffles the Invisible Cat #ThrowbackThursday

WAFFLES:  Do-do-do-do! ♫♩I am WAFFLES! Invisible Superhero Cat!

WAFFLES:  All I have to do is crawl inside my super magic bag and TA DA! I'm Waffles the Invisible Superhero Cat.

KATIE:  Waffles, I can totally see you.

WAFFLES:  But Boss... I'm Waffles the Invisible Superhero Cat. No one can see me.

KATIE:  Yeah, about that whole invisible thing...

About Today's Photos
Today's photos are from way back in May of 2013. Waffles was about 8 months old and obsessed with hiding in bags. Ok, so he's still obsessed with hiding in bags. And boxes. And bathrooms.

So often when he's hiding out, Glogirly swears he thinks he's invisible. But with a 15" striped tail, he's never very hard to find.

What's particularly special about the day these photos were taken is that this was one of the first times Katie engaged with Waffles in a playful way. Those of you that have been with us for awhile probably remember that Katie's world was tipped upside down the day Waffles came to live at the Townhouse. It was a very slow road to peace and harmony. In fact we're still traveling that road. But for Glogirly, this day meant there was hope for her furry family and that someday, everyone would get along.

When Art Imitates Life #ThrowbackThursday

WAFFLES: Hey BOSSSSSS! Where do you want me to hang your picture?

WAFFLES: How about here over the piano with mine? Is this high enough? I want to make sure everyone can see my monocle on account of how smart it makes me look.

KATIE:  Waffles, you're going to need more than a monocle to pull off the smart thing.

About Today's Photos
Today's #ThrowbackThursday is from exactly one year ago and from one of our all-time-favorite product reviews. Katie & Waffles' original oil portraits from Splendid Beast are still hanging today on a very prominent wall in the Townhouse. Every time Glogirly walks past them she smiles.

Waffles is certain she's smiling at how handsome he is in his sport coat & tie.

Katie is certain Glogirly's smiles have more to do with a certain oxymoron. After all, Waffles and smart have oxymoron written all over them.

WAFFLES:  Oxy-WHAT???

A Kitten & Her Girl #ThrowbackThursday

Hi everyone, Katie here.

I bet you didn't know that this is the photo that started it all. It was the picture we used on our very first blog header way back when I started every blog post with, "Hi Everyone, Katie here."

I was an anniversary present. A nice man with kind brown eyes and a deep voice adopted me for someone he said was very, very special. This special someone had no idea what he was doing. It was going to be a HUGE surprise. He'd been hinting around ... telling her that he was working on her birthday 'kit.'

She was thinking maybe a kit for washing her car, or a kit of accessories for her iPod or something.

Little did she know, 'kit' was short for kitten.

It was love at first sight.

Gloman's given Glogirly some very special anniversary gifts over the years. He's always really creative and silly about how he gives her presents. Sometimes he'll hide cards by her toothbrush or tucked inside her makeup bag. One year he hid a beautiful watch in the refrigerator next to the milk.

But the most special gift of all was a little black and white kitten with a purple bow around her neck and a tiny little tag that read, "Happy Anniversary."

About Today's Photos
All three of these photos are very special to us. Gloman took them WAY back in September of 2005 on Katie's first weekend in her new forever townhouse with her new forever family.

Glogirly didn't want to go to sleep that first night. She just wanted to keep holding Katie, looking into her eyes and telling her how much she loved her. And on that first night, they fell asleep together on the sofa. Katie was still curled up on Glogirly's chest the next morning.

The Tiny Kitten with the BIG Voice #ThrowbackThursday

WAFFLES:  La! La! La! Laaaa!  ♫♩

WAFFLES:  LA! LA! LA! Laaaa! ♫♩

WAFFLES:  LALALALALALALALALA LAAAAAAAAAA!  ♫♩♫♩

 WAFFLES:  LA!

KATIE:  Welcome to my life.

About Today's Photos
Waffles' #ThrowbackThursday photos are from WAY back in November of 2012. In fact, they're some of the very first photos ever taken of the tiny orange kitten with the BIG mouth. It didn't take long for Glogirly to realize he'd quickly become one of the most expressive cats she'd ever know and love.

And it didn't take Katie long to make her own realizations.

The Cute Behind the Door #ThrowbackThursday

WAFFLES:  Hello? Mister Furball with a tail thingy? Um... are you my father???

WAFFLES:  Mister Furball doesn't talk much. Maybe he speaks Spanish. Oh, wait. I don't speak Spanish either.

WAFFLES:  Oh my cod! We have so much in common, Mister Furball! You MUST be my father!

WAFFLES:  Uh, oh. Wait a minute. Are YOU my father???

About Today's Photos
These Baby Waff photos were taken way back in November of 2012 on the very weekend that Waffles came home to live with us here in the Townhouse. In fact the first three photos were some of the very first pictures Glogirly took of him. For the first week or so, Waffles was quarantined in the Red Room, a.k.a the Kitten Room.

Katie had NO IDEA the craziness that lurked behind that closed door. That is until the door cracked open.
