With the exception of the occasional role play, most sophisticated grown-ups have left their school uniforms behind. But not Piet Breinholm, a former drummer for the Berlin-based trio 18 Dye, who has transformed the once-ubiquitous leather school bag carried by Danish children into a chic unisex accessory. The Last Bag, named for the Last Band, is sold in Breinholm’s Copenhagen boutique. It is entirely made in Denmark, and comes in two sizes and a range of school’s out colors: yellow, orange, emerald and color-block combinations.
Laptops, cell-phones and other trappings of mature homework all fit comfortably in the “Last Bag,” which is highly durable, although Breinholm warns that “it can go in the rain but management doesn’t recommend use in territories with horizontal rainfall.” (Look in your science textbook under “joke.”) Source your supply at The Danish Store or at pietbreinholm.dk.
