HOUSTON, Tx. – The nation anxiously awaits the Ferguson, Missouri grand jury decision on whether or not Officer Darren Wilson will face charges in the August shooting death of unarmed teenager Michael Brown.
In Houston, Representative Sheila Jackson Lee joined community members at Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ for a vigil in honor of the family of the victim, and the city of Ferguson.
“I am calling for peaceful protests.” Lee says. “That we stand, we march, we hug, we love. And then I’m calling for justice.”
The President, Attorney General, and father of the victim have all plead that the protestors not have Michael’s memory marred by the actions of violent protests if Officer Darren Wilson is not indicted.
The grand jury did not reach a decision by Friday, and won’t reconvene before Monday morning.
