Box Score

ASTON, Pa. - The Neumann University men's soccer team beat Rosemont College Wednesday afternoon in a close 2-1 Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) contest.

Jake McDevitt notched his third goal of the season as he scored the opening goal in the 35th minute. McDevitt was able to chip shot the ball over the Raven's goalie after Christian Cortese passed him the ball.

Neumann opened up the second half with three quick shots but they could not reach the back of the net and the score remained 1-0. Action picked up and a Knight was pulled down just outside the box and a scoring change was spoiled. However, Neumann was awarded a penalty shot. Brooks Skyers converted the chance, scoring his first goal of the season, and the Knights lead 2-0 in the 66th minute.

The bid for the shut out vanished as a Raven was pulled down while trying to create a scoring chance, thus giving Rosemont a penalty shot. The Ravens converted to cut the Knights lead to 2-1 in the 87th minute.

Rosemont poured everything it had into the final two minutes. The Ravens kept the ball in the Knights end and had chances with a corner kick and a free kick, but the one shot they managed went wide.

Neumann outshot Rosemont 14-6. The Knights defensive line of Skyers, Vince Cortese, Ian Hunter, Joe Martinho and keeper Dan Jones held the Ravens to just one shot on goal, the penalty kick. Neumann had six shots on net and made Rosemont's goalie make some diving saves.

Neumann (6-8-1, 6-0 CSAC) travels to Keystone on Saturday, continuing CSAC action. The game is slated to begin at 2:30 PM.
