We hope to see you there!Family Fun Skate NightJoin the Mantua PTA for a family fun night of ice skating on Friday, January 16th from 4:45 to 6:00 p.m. at Fairfax Ice Arena. You don't want to miss this winter event! There is no cost to attend but for those who ice skate there is an admission fee of $5.50 paid at the door. Be sure to mention the Mantua Elementary School PTA for this discounted fee. Rental skates are available for an additional $4.00. Please come dressed for cool temperatures: jacket, pants, hat, and gloves are suggested along with a bike helmet for beginners. While there, take a break from the ice and visit the PTA hospitality table for a complimentary cup of hot chocolate while supplies last. Plan to attend! Contact Kathleen DeCarlo with any questions.Upcoming 4th Grade Human Growth and Development LessonThe 4th grade will be teaching their 1 hour Human Growth and Development lesson on Thursday, January 29th. The students will be separated by gender and taught by their grade level teachers and 5th grade male teachers. All students will be included in this lesson unless an opt-out form has been submitted to the school by January 26th. Additional opt-out forms can be picked-up in the main office or requested from your child’s teacher. A parent meeting will be held on Thursday, January 15th from 7:00-8:00 p.m. in the library for parents to preview the materials and talk with school staff about the program.Mantua Talent Show The Mantua PTA is proud to present the 2015 Mantua Talent Show! Do you play an instrument, sing, or dance? Do you like to perform magic? Do you want to demonstrate your martial arts prowess? Then, why not try out for this year’s show?

Virginia Super Teacher
Do YOU Know a Super Teacher? Does your child's teacher go above and beyond classroom duty to inspire students? Does she lead them to new understanding and knowledge breakthroughs? Does he motivate them to reach higher and achieve their potential? Answering "yes" to any of these questions means your child may know the most amazing of all super heroes - a Virginia Lottery Super Teacher. Help us identify and recognize these education heroes! Between now and February 13th, nominate your child's Super Teacher at www.vasuperteacher.com. Out of the nominees, eight Virginia educators will be selected in 2015 as Super Teachers, winning $2,000 from the Virginia Lottery and $2,000 in classroom supplies from The Supply Room Companies. In addition to the wonderful classroom supplies and cash prizes, this year, one school out of all the nominations will be randomly selected to win a $1,000 in supplies from The Supply Room Companies. Let's show our outstanding teachers how super-thankful we are for their hard work. Woodson Winter Baseball Camp
WT Woodson’s Baseball staff and teams would welcome the opportunity to work with your player this pre-season at the 2015 Woodson Winter Baseball Camp, sponsored by the W.T. Woodson Cavaliers Boosters. The camp will be on Sundays from January 25th-February 15th from 9:00-11:00 a.m. It is open to students ages 7-14 (or grades 2-8.) Cost is $120, which includes all 3 Sunday sessions and a camp t-shirt. Register by January 10th. For a registration form and for more information, visit this website.
