OLD WESTBURY, NY (www.OLDWESTBURYPANTHERS.com) - The SUNY College at Old Westbury women's basketball team lost a 64-43 Skyline Conference decision at home on Wednesday evening to the Sage Gators from Clark Athletic Center. Old Westbury (8-9) moves to 2-3 in conference play while Sage (9-5) improved to 4-2.

Sage jumped ahead early with a 10-2 lead, hitting on 4-of-8 from the field to open the game. Old Westbury answered with an 11-4 run to pull within one point (14-13) with 13:44 remaining. Sage outscored Old Westbury 20-11 over the final 12:13 to take a 36-26 advantage into the half.

Sage opened the second half with a 13-1 run to take a game-high 22-point lead (49-27) with 11:05 left. Clarissa Gallagher's three pointer at the 10:55 mark sparked a 16-0 Panther run as Old Westbury trimmed its deficit to six points (49-43) with 5:44 remaining. During that span, Gallagher netted 10 of Old Westbury's 16 points, converting on all four of her field goal attempts. Gallagher's three point with 5:44 showing on the second-half clock capped Old Westbury's scoring as Sage closed out the final 5:25 with a 15-0 run.

Jasmine Robinson's 15 points (2-5 3FG) and three steals in 23 minutes off the bench paced Old Westbury. Gallagher added 10 points (2-5 3FG) and two steals while Crystal Barnes chipped in with seven points, 13 rebounds and three blocked shots. Olivia Ilardi contributed three steals while Raven Pentz and Nikki Alexander each followed with two.

Megan Bowman led the way for Sage with a game-high 33 points (9-15 FG, 12-13 FT) to go along with seven assists, seven rebounds and two steals. Amie Jefferson and Genevieve Schoff each added 13 rebounds while Schoff swatted three shots.

In the end, Old Westbury shot 23.4 percent from the field (15-64), 33.3 percent from three-point range (5-15) and 57.1 percent from the free-throw line (8-14) while Sage knocked down 42.3 percent from the floor (22-52), 50 percent from beyond the arc (5-10) and 78.9 percent from the charity stripe (15-19). Sage also won the boards battle, 56-30, scoring just eight second-chance points off 15 offensive rebounds. Old Westbury scored 18 points off 24 Sage turnovers and held a 15-6 edge in steals.

MOUNT SAINT MARY KNIGHTS UP NEXT FOR THE PANTHERS: Old Westbury returns to action on Saturday (Jan. 31)) when they host the Maritime Privateers for a Skyline Conference battle at 2 p.m. from Clark Athletic Center.
