Many of you know Elijah is the 3rd string quarterback who threw the game winning ball to take the Mona Shores Sailors to Ford field. You may have saw the story WZZM13 shared of him, "Against all odds: The Elijah Wilson Story". Elijah, at just 3 years old lost his mother to a fatal shooting, and his father was involved in a home invasion the same night. At 3 years old his grandma, Elena Wilson took him under her wing and raised him. His grandma and his memories of his mother are his biggest inspiration, and what keeps him going. In 2014, his grandma was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, and caring for her and his grandpa became Elijah's number one priority. Now it's 2016, and his grandma's cancer is back. Elijah plays football, hockey and baseball to keep his sanity, coping with his grandma's cancer, and waking up at 4am each morning to take his grandpa to work, then going to school at 7:30, with sports to follow in the evening. Elijah's main priority has been to make his mother, and grandparents proud. Well, Elijah is graduating! And he was offered a contract to play hockey in Philadelphia, for $10,000. So what we're asking is, any help towards his hockey contract, or for his living expenses. Even if it's just $1. He's worked so hard to make everyone happy and proud, and now we want to be able to return the favor by him being able to play his favorite sport and find his own happiness, since he works so hard to make everyone else happy! Not to mention, to help take the stress off his grandparents worrying about how they will ever be able to afford to send him off to college! Playing for this junior hockey league helps him get a chance for a scholarship for school. Thank you so much and God bless!
