      This place was excellent!

The table salsa is the best I've ever had at a restaurant. Usually I end up asking for something spicier but this stuff was perfect. Not a standard tomato based sauce, tasted like chile de arbol which was confirmed by the waiter. Quite good. The only tragedy was that the chips were not good, that salsa deserves better!

I also got the birria soup and it was top notch. The waiter mentioned that it was sort of spicy but I didn't get that at all. Big chunks of mutton and the broth was perfect. I'd eat it every night and twice on tuesdays. If they offered a ramen version of this I'd be in heaven. I stay at the hotel nearby pretty regularly so this place will be on my return list!

I love Guajillos so much! They have the BEST chile relleno I have ever had! It's always hot and fresh and tastes so good with their rice and beans. Their salsa is super spicy and I love adding it to everything I order, it gives everything a "flavor elevation."

The frijol dorado is by far my favorite appetizer! Who knew beans in a crispy tortilla with a spicy mayo, onion, and queso fresco could be so mind blowing delicious! And their corn tortillas are addicting, the flavor is like nothing I've ever had.

I have never had bad service here, everyone is always friendly and attentive, as well as accommodating. Though they occupy a small corner it is surprisingly big inside and has really nice Mexican artwork on the walls. They are usually very busy during lunch so it can be loud. I recommend dinner time or weekends.

We have been twice now in a few months since we were in the area. Tried several different plates. We were with family the second visit. Nothing looked good or tasted good in all the plates: mole, Chile Relleno, chilaquiles, taco combo.

No Butter. There is even a sign that says "No Butter". Lol.
Hot sauce is hot, which is good, but too hot for some. No alternative choices. And no butter to balance the heat. Don't ask for butter. Lol.

Service on our second visit wasn't good either. I had to get up to ask for tortillas which were supposed to come with meal. I had to ask for second plate after ordering it to begin with. Companion ask for no onion and guess what, she got raw onion all over her plate. He took our order and delivered our order. Server and expeditor should have made sure all was there to be delivered correctly.

After learning how "authentic" Mexico this restaurant is supposed to be, it does make me sad we couldn't have liked it better. Unfortunate, with bad experiences.

Guajillo is San Antonio's best kept secret! Guajillo has authentic Mexican food, it truly is the Shortcut to Mexico! I am so grateful I decided to stop by on my commute home. I kept seeing it on Blanco road and something told me to give it a try today.

I walked into a welcoming host that let me choose from table or booth. I sat at a table by a mirror which gave me a great view of the restaurant. I saw the menu and I had the pleasure of being served by Alex whom was a nice gentleman. You can really tell the quality of an establishment by it's service.

The chile for the chips and salsa is the best I have tried at a restaurant. It was sooo good! I decided on the Chile Relleno which is a stuffed green pepper with cheese and battered with fried egg, on top is a garlicky tomato sauce. The Mexican rice and refried beans were also very good. It's as if I had been transported to Mexico, there were families and couples dinning and everyone seemed to love the food too.

When I finished my entree Alex suggested Arroz Con Leche so I gave it a try, it was cold which I loved in this summer heat. It was topped with cinnamon and raisins like they do in Mexico.

You will truly enjoy Guajillo Restaurant, I couldn't believe I hadn't been there before. Take your friends! Take your family! Take Your Beloved! You will be pleasantly surprised!

Hands down, best Fidep soup in San Antonio. Y'all can argue but I've tried lots of places and this one just nails it. Not sure how long this restaurant has been here but I've been eating there for years. The food is outstanding and is not very Tex mex. So you get authentic Mexican food. Staff is friendly, and the restaurant has all ranges of ages and races, so that means everyone loves it.

Glad we stopped by!! For a Friday evening we were pleasantly surprised by the service. Would definitely recommend if you're looking to find freshly made tortillas and home made food. My 6 year old finished his entire plate which doesn't happen often!

Food was good. Service was very good. Ambience was casual and relaxed. It was a great place drop by on the way to the airport. Great Mexican comfort food.
