Manchester United are reportedly set to win the race to sign Swiss wonderkid Breel Embolo.

The 19-year-old forward has risen to prominence with FC Basel, and is part of the Switzerland squad at Euro 2016.

Embolo is highly sought-after across Europe, after scoring 30 goals in 86 games for the Swiss champions since making his first-team debut in March 2014.

Premier League clubs Tottenham and Liverpool have both been linked with a move, while German giants Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Monchengladbach have also been mooted as potential destinations.

And newly-promoted Bundesliga side Red Bull Leipzig, backed by the energy drink giants, have also made their interest ahead of next season.

Leipzig, coached by well-respected German Ralf Rangnick, are expected to be big movers in the transfer market this summer, ahead of their top-flight debut.

Working under the modus operandi to recruit the best young talent from Germany and central Europe, they made a £15million move for Embolo, according to Leipziger Volkszeitung.

But following talks over a £2.3million-per-year contract for the Swiss starlet, RBL have pulled out of a deal - believing United have already won the race.

The Red Devils, now under Jose Mourinho's stewardship, are offering a £4.6million annual salary to Embolo, and are negotiating with Basel for his release after Euro 2016.

United have already spent £30million on Villarreal defender Eric Bailly, Mourinho's first signing, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic is also expected to arrive, with the Portuguese boss having £250million at his disposal this summer.
