Top Ten 2014 Releases I’m Dying to Read

Let me just preface this by saying: This is in NO WAY a complete list AT ALL. In fact, since I made these graphics, I’ve already remembered at least three other books that I meant to add here. And I deliberately left off a 2014 release that I’ve read already, otherwise it would DEFINITELY be on here: CRESS. Other than that, this is just a small-ish sampling of books that I’m most looking forward to in 2014. Seriously, this list could’ve been, like, 30 books long. Not even kidding.

2014 releasesBiggest no brainer on this list. HUGE no brainer. I’ve only been dying for Jandy Nelson’s next book since, you know, FOREVER. I don’t even know what it’s about. Don’t care. It will be gorgeous and wonderful and amazing. It is known.

2014 releasesNo brainer number 2. Stephanie Perkins’ contemps are just some of my favorites. Waiting for Isla’s book to come out has been anticipation of the good kind. Mostly I’ve been fidgeting and chair-dancing and trying not to get crazy with grabby hands.

2014 releasesThis list is FULL of no brainers it seems! I am so endlessly enchanted by this whole series. I can’t even wait to get my hot little hands on the third book. CAN’T. EVEN. WAIT. I still have so much hope for Karou and Akiva. Plus Zuzana and Mik. SWOOONNNNSS.

2014 releasesFriends, I just die for this series. It’s so outstanding. I love the historical fiction and I love the mythology. Mostly, though, I love the characters and the way they overcome their demons. I’ve spent lots of time pondering the fate of Annith, but I have complete faith in R.L. LaFevers.

2014 releasesI will always and forever–and ever, and ever, and ever–have grabby hands for Morgan Matson books. ALWAYS. I love her writing and her characters. I’m excited to see what she does with the friendship in this one.

2014 releasesSo, I’m technically skipping a book in this series–SACRIFICE is book #5 (book 4 is coming out in the winter). But it is also the time for Michael Merrick to SHINE and friends, shine he shall. If the whole blogging world isn’t in love with him after this book…I just don’t know what I’ll do with you all. He’s my favorite Merrick brother by a mile. SWOONS FOR DAYS.

2014 releasesI can’t get this book out of my head. It sounds so mysterious and dangerous! A fantasy about death and the woods and something killing people. Something about it reminds me vaguely of a fairy tale–maybe it’s the character’s name, Rowan Rose, or the fact that the title reminds me of Snow White. Either way, I’m PSYCHED.

2014 releasesWITCHCRAFT, HOLLA! This book sounds so full of potential. I can’t wait to read it. A girl whose mother was killed by a curse living in fear of the thing responsible? Then coming face to face with it and uncovering SEKRETS?? Psh. Amy book.

2014 releasesA middle grade about the daughter of Captain Hook? Not even a question if I’m reading this.

2014 releasesEver since I read and just flat-out LOVED TIGER LILY, I’ve been eager to read more things by Jodi Lynn Anderson. This sounds like a very different book: murder mystery/ghost story (maybe). Only gripe? It’s set in the winter time but it’s coming out in July. Amy’s Laws of Seasonal Reading state that I can’t read this book in the middle of the summer. Alas.

2014 releasesIs there anyone who’s read this book already who HASN’T loved it? No? I certainly don’t know of anyone. I’m so intrigued by this book! It sounds excellently twisty and intense.

2014 releasesFirst of all, this book is blurbed by Kristin Cashore. KRISTIN CASHORE. I’m sold just on that. But it’s a debut fantasy about a girl who is human/DRAGON. An outstanding combo if I ever heard of one.

Books I’m DYING to Read That Have No Title

2014 releasesOne of my favorite middle grade series around. This one features a time jump of five years, where most of the Penderwick girls are teens, except Batty, the youngest, who’s 8. SO looking forward to this. These books only come out every three years, so they’re like special little gifts.

2014 releasesYo, CROWN OF MIDNIGHT just amped up the drama so much. The fact that this series is going to be six books long just absolutely makes me fangirl so hard. I know that lots of people are burned out on series, but I sometimes am the opposite; the longer the series, the more excited I get. This is one of those times.

2014 releases This series is so atmospheric and mysterious, and the way things played out in book 2 makes me very excited for book 3.

  1. You have a lot of books listed that I haven’t heard of yet! Hook’s Revenge sounds really really good. I love retellings of fairy tales!!

  2. I love your list! I knew that I’d end up wanting to kick myself for missing some good titles. I will definitely check out A Creature of Moonlight, because if I can’t have a Cashore book in 2014, I’ll take one she recommends. Awesome list,
