Battered and beaten, Casey Trela is either running from something or running to something in the new video for “Spools,” from his band TUFT’s recently released full-length “Look Look.” In one scene, his is piloting a Lincoln Continental down a desert highway with bandmates Kevin Manwarren and Roxy Radulescu in the backseat. In another, he is running desperately alone down the shoulder of the road. Director Ernie Gilbert lets the drama unfold slowly, and at the finish you realize that what Trela is running from and running to are one and the same: The End. “Look Look,” which is the debut from the band formerly known as Hi Ho Silver Oh, is full of such meditations on adulthood and mortality, realized in deftly arranged and cathartic anthems. Don’t sleep on it.
