The improbable has finally happened: ABBA have reunited for an extremely rare sing-along together.

All four members haven't performed together since 1986, but last night (June 5) they all took to the stage to mark their 50th anniversary.

Agnetha Faltskog, Bjorn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid (Frida) Lyngstad were all present at a special private event in Stockholm, Sweden for the occasion.

There are no videos from the show yet, but many of the audience members present shared images of the band singing.

Ulvaeus and Andersson met for the first time on June 5, 1966, forming a songwriting friendship that would eventually become ABBA.

The Swedish band are one of the most successful musical acts in history, having sold over 380 million albums worldwide.

Their big break came after winning the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974 with their famous hit 'Waterloo'.

ABBA officially split up in 1982, but the last time they had performed together before last night was in 1986.

Bjorn Ulvaeus told Digital Spy that he thought the group would be completely forgotten about after their split.

"After we decided to go on a break - which was in '82 - I firmly believed that in a year or two we will fall into oblivion. I sincerely believed that!"

ABBA's popularity over the years has only increased though, and they were offered a reported $1 billion to reunite for some shows, but declined.

However, consider this is the second time this year that all four members have been pictured together, could one final send-off show be on the cards? Just imagine.
