The Bulldogs' most important cog re-commits to the club

Canterbury Bulldogs CEO, Raelene Castle has re-signed with the club, in a deal that will see her remain at Belmore until the end of 2018.

Castle's newest contract will see her become the longest-serving female administrator in the history of rugby league in Australia.

It’s a huge step for Castle, who upon her arrival at the club in 2013, faced a tidal wave of criticism and doubt about her ability to serve in the CEO role in an organisation dominated by men.

“I feel proud,” Castle told The Daily Telegraph’s David Riccio.

“When you take these opportunities, they’re very high-profile and if you don’t get it right, it's a high-profile departure which is always difficult.

“Equally, if you put some runs on the board it can be beneficial and rewarding. Why did I re-sign? Because I’ve got unfinished business.”

Castle remains an important cog in the Canterbury machine, with players, fellow administrators and fans recognising not just the incredible job she has done over the past four seasons, but the high expectations she places on the club both on and off the field.

Her vision for the Bulldogs to have claimed two premierships by the end of 2019 remains as real as ever for Castle, and it is this aspirational quality that endears her to the Canterbury faithful.

With coach Des Hasler and now Castle locked down at Belmore, there’s plenty of upside to the direction the Dogs are heading in.
