A girl fighting her way through the darkness.
A sexy business tycoon on a revenge mission.

Meet Elizabeth Williams. She is at the airport on an important work assignment. If everything goes smoothly, after three years of hard work, she’ll get a promotion and a much-needed raise. Elizabeth is putting her life back on track after it was ripped out from under her feet four years ago when she lost her parents along with all her dreams. Standing here, she believes her life is going to change for the better any moment now. Nothing can go wrong, right?

Meet Ryan Price. Hot CEO who came to Moscow on business. Right now, Ryan is standing at the airport looking at a ‘present’ from his brother, judging by the sign a beautiful young woman is holding. Damn his brother for not cancelling this arrangement as Ryan asked.

Miscommunications and misunderstandings, and a love story begins.

There will be a scary flight, lovely breakfasts, long evening conversations, sharing a secret or two, discovering one another, a lot of laughter, tender moments and some tears, a fight and, of course, the I-am-ready-for-the-end-of-the-world kiss.
Somewhere along the way, they won’t be able to fight their feelings any longer.
For the first time in his life, Ryan will experience a different shade of lust. And for the first time in her life, Elizabeth will have to trust despite all of the times she has been hurt.

Will these two wounded lost souls find love, peace and comfort in each other or will they just break each other more? Is it a train wreck of a love story or a happily ever after?

REVIEW

I read both of these books previously and am giving my review.

Book: Flawed and Damaged (Damaged Hearts #1)

This story is about two people who have such painful and deep past issues. Two shattered souls.
Elizabeth is trying to get through the death of her parents and the sickness of her grandmother while Ryan is trying to get revenge against his father for all the years of hell he went through.
They meet by accident at the airport where Elizabeth was sent by her employer to pickup who she thinks was Ryan but it turns out it was not and things spiral from there.
I did like the book although something was missing as it went back and forth to each characters pov but overall it was a pleasant read. Elizabeth although damaged she is very strong and a survivor. Ryan however came across as a dominating jerk at times although he started to warm on me.
There was no HEA, as the book will continue into another.
Overall good book and very sad in many parts and very funny in other areas. I would recommend it.

I was gifted a copy of this book for my honest review

Book: Fears and Scars (Damaged Hearts #2)

REVIEW
Elizabeth is happy to finally be marrying Ryan but before that happens the world, she has always known falls apart even more. Ryan knows something but before he can tell her, someone else does. Can Liz ever forgive Ryan?
I would suggest you read book 1 in this series so you can learn more of the characters. Elizabeth is a strong woman and has found it hard to trust anyone and now yet again after finally giving her trust to someone she finds it was given wrongly or was it? Ryan also deals with demons, struggles, and fears losing Liz. And throw David the ex in the pot oh boy. All I can say is this is one hell of a roller coaster of emotions story.
I enjoyed this book and found it a lot stronger in story than the first in the series. Kudos to the author. The book does still need some proofing but overall it is a great story and that is what I base my review on.

I was gifted a copy of this book for an honest review.

Well OMG! This Maybe My First Book/s By This Author But I Will Be Back For More That Is A Given. The Story Is Centered Around 2 Broken Souls With Deep Dark Issues.

Flawed And Damaged.
Was A Great Book But It Was A Heartbreaker At Times And I Just Wanted To Shout At Ryan A Lot As He Was Hurting Elizabeth Even Though He Had Feelings For Her. It Took Someone To Point Out His Mistake To See What Was Happening.

Fear And Scars.
This Book Carries On This Amazing Story Of All The Characters And Makes You See That Somethings Are Worth The Trouble. There Are Tears Aswell As Laughter In This Intense Book That Is So Full Of Everything It Makes The Journey Worth The Pain. I Recommend This Great Read!

Great book with totally unexpected twists and turns

This is an excellent book about love, but it keeps you hooked with lots of twists and turns in the plot right up to the very end. The main characters have very different history when it comes to family and love, yet both have a shell that has to open before they can find the real thing.

These books were recommended to me on my Facebook feed. It's not the first time I've gotten sucked into downloading a Kindle sample by an Indi author because of Facebook and because of the "Billionaire Romance" title and the cover art, I thought it was going to be a light, cheesy read. But I was really pleasantly surprised because these books were really good!

They had a lot of depth to them which I wasn't expecting. I thought Liz and Ryan were really developed well and had a lot of layers. And they were easy to relate to because they acted normal. Sometimes I kind of eye roll through books when the characters are just too perfect. But this couple had fights that they had to work hard to get through, they had flaws that anyone could understand and relate too. And, it's a love story which I'm a fan of these days. And this was a good one.

More stuff I enjoyed about this book ...

I loved all the fun places the character's went. It was fun being at Ryan's hotels, in Liz's apartment with Nina, the cafes, the beach, etc. It's hard creating fun settings for characters and I give a thumbs up for this writer. She put a lot of thought into it and I appreciate that

I love the side characters, Nina and Mark. They didn't just show up here and there when it was convenient for the plot. They were real, living and breathing characters right along with Liz and Ryan.

There were a lot of depth and messages and insights that were a part of the story. I felt like the writer really dug deep and shared her soul with us through her characters. I really liked that.

Some of the cons ...

What made me cringe the most throughout the book were the typos. There were a lot of them as well as some sentences being a little off. I know this is an Indi book so I tried not to let it bother me too much but still. This many typos really took away from the experience.

The character's dialog was a little off sometimes. To put it bluntly, they talked too much. People don't say so much out loud to each other. I liked everything the writer was saying through the dialog but ... since it was written in first person present, I think it would have been better to have the characters reflect these messages and ideas in their head, and then when they shared with each other to say it in not so many words. It would have been more believable that way but still would have gotten the message across. They just poured all their soul and thoughts out over and over and it wasn't very believable.

The plot kind of threw me here and there. The writer did a great job building up the tension of their attraction to each other in the first book but after they got together, it kind of got boring. I felt like "I'm glad you guys are together finally but ... now what?" Reading how much you love each other over and over again isn't a great climax for a book. And in the second book, things got super weird at the end and I had a hard time making myself finish it. I won't elaborate on that too much because I don't want to give spoilers away.

The way I see it is, this story was this writer's first book(s). I think she did a great job. It's really hard writing a book and its so easy to get really into your characters and into all of the details and moving parts of the story. It's hard to find just the right balance of plot, dialog, etc. But what I know is this writer loved her characters, put a lot of heart and soul into them, and I apprecaited and enjoyed that. Yeah the plot got a little blogged down sometimes, the dialog was a little too over-the-top here and there, but over all it's a good read and I recommend it if you're a contemporary romance fan like me. I'm really looking forward to her next book and I'm following her on Goodreads now.

Wow! What a wonderfully written story – I really enjoyed this duet & read the whole thing non-stop!

Emily has created a brilliant tale, with fantastic characters who have so many layers and complexities to them. I absolutely loved the characters and fell in love with them both pretty quickly! I loved how Elizabeth and Ryan met – it really kicked the story off to a great start and got me totally hooked! The way Elizabeth and Ryan meet is due to quite a big misunderstanding on Ryan’s part, and subsequent lack of communication between the characters. As a reader you knew exactly what was going on and were waiting for the characters to twig what had happened!

Elizabeth is living in Russia due to her Grandma being there. She was originally from the USA, and moved to Russia when she had no other choice. Ryan is visiting Russia on a business trip – he’s your sexy, hot, powerful, businessman, but we also discover so much more to him. Both characters have so many scars, so much history and so much damage… there are layers upon layers to each of them and Emily Krat has managed to intertwine their two stories so well, bringing us on a journey full of heart break, loss, love, friendship and emotion.

“I know what she’s been through. Something so tragic could have changed her, turned her heart into something cold and ugly, like mine. But it didn’t. Her goodness amazes me.”

These books really do have it all – there is so much heat, passion and sexual chemistry! There is a lot of anger and a lot of lies – so much so that at times I was getting a bit cross with the characters. They were making the wrong choices in my eyes! But still, I kept having to read to see if they ever find their way back and if things can ever be repaired. I did struggle with a very small part in the second book, where things slowed down slightly for me, but it wasn’t too long before things picked up again and Emily had me hooked again with yet another twist!

Ryan has huge control issues, and wants everything to be perfect. This means he is hiding things and not being truly honest with himself or Liz, and in turn creates a whole host of issues! They both think they want or need one thing, but their hearts are telling them something else, then their head decides something different again…. You need to read it to see why….!

“How much easier it would be if we could erase our feelings, make them disappear when they have no place.”

Overall this is a super emotional roller-coaster! You will be taken through so many different feelings – I laughed and I cried, then I shouted!! The story line flows well and has been constructed very well. I absolutely loved the secondary characters Nina and Mark and have high hopes for more from them – I think there is a lot we could discover there….!!
Well done Emily, on a wonderful duet that I will recommend to all! 4.5 stars!

Two damaged hearts fixed by the strength of true love

Emily Krat is a new found author to me and I went into this book solely based on a little piece I found written on facebook .
Ryan price what can I say he's a business driven man and he doesnt care who he tramples on to get what he wants, he's cut off from any real emotions or feeling other than towards his brother mark and he's arrived in Moscow to make the next step in his revenge towards his bastard father empire. He has everything going his way with one goal in mind until he arrives at the airport and See's Elizabeth the woman who will change his life forever.

Elizabeth, at 22 years old she had a lot to deal with, both parent's are dead and he granny is in a special hospital, she working her as off to pay for it at a crappy job for a crappy boss but right now she's on top of the world because shes been given a real assignment to do. So here she is standing in the airport waiting for the person she is meant to meet except fait has other ideas.
I love how this story from the very beginning gives you the backgrounds of both Ryan and Liz their family and friends, it made the story flow better for me (or maybe I'm just really nosey lol) when Ryan and Liz first meet I love that although inside their heads there is an instant attraction between them but what comes out of their mouths is completely different, Ryan is rude and bad mannered and Liz babbles, throw in some seriously crossed wires and a hooker assumption and you've got yourself a really funny chapter. From there on out its a game of cat and mouse both hiding how they feel some drunken moments insults exchanged and fake job offer in paris a rocky friendship and an adopted street cat and the next few chapters show more reality than any book I've ever read.
When push comes to shove and both Ryan and Liz finally admit how they feel for each other and decide to give it a go I loved the fact that it wasnt all plain sailing for them it made it more real to me. Through out the rest of the story they still have their ups a downs and are both still learning but Ryan will have to learn the hard way.

#I DONT WANT TO REVEAL TO MANY SPOILERS SO I WILL WRAP THIS UP#

The rest of the story from here on out is filled with heartache challenges and fighting for what you truly want, the road is never easy but its all
Totally worth it.
If I could of given this book more than five stars I would of.

WOW WOW WOW! I absolutely LOVED LOVED LOVED this Duet! Elizabeth Williams has put her life back together after losing her parents and dreams in one fell swoop. She finally has a shot at a promotion and raise at work, when she's sent on an assignment to pick up so very important clients and making sure they get to the meeting. When sexy CEO, Ryan Price sees the beautiful woman with a sign up, he believes this is brothers present to him, and it irritates him so he snaps at Elizabeth to put the sign down so they can go. This sets up a series of misunderstandings which lead to love for these two tortured souls. But Ryan thinks he's too damaged, and Elizabeth is innocent and lets no one close. The more time they spend together, the more difficult it becomes to deny their feelings. As they give it a shot, Ryan can't help himself but to want to control everything, so in trying to protect Liz, he goes about it the wrong way by keeping things from her while he tries and fixes it himself. This is making it hard for Liz to keep trusting him, and he's very close to losing her. When he makes the ultimate bad choice of keeping the biggest secret of all, will he be able to ever get her to forgive him?

So Emily Krat had my girly girl dramatic emotions triggered all over the place. But her talented writing style kept me going along for the whole emotional roller coaster ride that had me shouting very bad words along the way. The character development is great, with an entertaining cast of secondaries. Dare I say, that Mark has to have his own story? (Hint hint). A highly addicting, emotionally charged, and well written storyline flows very smoothly. The flammable chemistry shot out of my kindle, which FINALLY ignited into FIERY FLAMES of sexy scene goodness, and the dual POV only added to all the sexiness. I can't state how much I LOVED this series, and I'm super excited to see what this author comes up with next! (MARK NEEDS LOVE ASAP). So I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I gave this book 4.5 stars!

From the first meeting to the end you will see two people slowly fall in love. Liz and Ryan's story takes on real life events. Through it all you will see how these two are ment to be together. They have along road a head and it's not always easy. There are twist, turns and surprises, and at times you are ready to sting Ryan and Liz up. The secondary characters are just as important and I would love to see Mark and Nina get their own story. Be prepared to laugh, cry and be blown away with the things Ryan does to protect the ones he loves.

Emily has written a beautiful love story and I can't wait to read more from this author.

This was a great book! All the trials & sadness this couple goes through is so horrible. No one should have to live like they did, but it made for such a great story. I would recommend this to any one who wants to read an amazing love story with some very sexy times too! The author totally breaks your heart over & over but puts it back together! I'm so glad Ryan & Liz get a HEA!! I'm hoping to hear more about Mark, Ryan's brother & Nina, Liz's best friend......

Ryan and Liz's story was full of angst and drama but filled your heart with hope that their scarred hearts could heal. Although I would have liked to give this book a five star rating, I couldn't because I felt like the author was sometimes pushing too much "life" at the characters. Yes, life throws you a curveball, but seriously...I wanted to just say "come on, already! Give them a break!" Despite this I loved the characters and I can't wait to read about Mark and his journey towards finding love and happiness.

✯✯4.5 Flawless Stars!!✯✯

FLAWED & DAMAGED

✯✯4 Damaged Stars!!✯✯

This is Emily Krat's debut book and what a way to start! I really fell in love with both Elizabeth and Ryan. Both Ryan and Elizabeth have had hard lives. And, because of everything that has happened to them they are both damaged. They both have their reasons behind everything that they do. Somethings good and others not so much. But, in the end they just want the pain inside to end. I literally would be laughing hysterical to crying the next.

Elizabeth's parents died in a plane crash when she was 17. She moved to Moscow with her grandmother. Now, she's working at a job as an assistant for the past 3yrs. Elizabeth wants no needs a promotion. Her grandmother has Alzheimer's and Elizabeth will do anything to get her into a trial to help her keep her grandmother around a little longer. Elizabeth gets her big break. Go to the airport and bring the investors back to her office. Do that & the promotion is yours.

Ryan who took over his father's business very rarely leaves New York. When he is forced to go to Moscow to check on one of his hotels he was not prepared for what he was getting. Once he shows up in the airport he sees the most beautiful women he's ever seen. The problem? The name on the sign she's holding. His brother Mark has women everywhere he goes. He can not believe he sent her to him.

Ryan lets Elizabeth know he is here and lets go. Elizabeth follows and can not believe how attractive the guy in front of her is. Even if he is a major jerk. Once at the hotel Ryan dismisses Elizabeth. Elizabeth is straight confused and her phone is dead. She has no way of getting a hold of her bosses. Elizabeth decides to wait for Ryan.

Needless to say Ryan & Elizabeth figure out the mix up. Elizabeth ends up fired. Ryan for the life of him can't get Elizabeth out of his mind. After a background check he learns everything there is to know about Elizabeth. He tracks her down. Ryan makes up a bogus job with a very real paycheck.

Elizabeth's room mate and closest friend Nina convinces her to take it. Now, until Elizabeth's "boss" can meet her she is going with Ryan to Paris. Or that's what she's meant to believe.

Elizabeth and Ryan spend a lot of time together. Both of them are fighting their own wars inside themselves. Poor Elizabeth hasn't handled the death of her parents well at all.Every day faithfully she opens up her journals and writes to her parents. Anybody that looks at Elizabeth can see the emptiness in her eyes. Ryan too is not handling things good. His mother died during childbirth of his baby brother Mark. Mark is the one person Ryan loves and would protect. Their father wasn't a nice person. In order to save Mark he had to go & do what his father wanted. Now, Ryan is on a revenge mission. He wants to ruin his father. Ryan is a loner. With the exception of his brother and 1 employee who has become sort of a friend over the years. Ryan doesn't talk to employees very nicely. He def is not someone people want to talk too or be friend with. But, with Elizabeth it's different.

Not only does she see the good in Ryan she also sees when he's being a asshat. Elizabeth lets Ryan know how she feels. There was so many times I'd find myself hysterical laughing at these 2. Ryan & Elizabeth definitely feel things for each other. One minute Ryan is letting his guard down and the next he's a total jerk. Poor Elizabeth doesn't know what the heck is going on.

Emily had you feeling everything the characters were feeling! I love duel POV in a book. I love the men POV the best usually. Ryan was no different. He has so much to give to people. But, he doesn't know how too. Elizabeth has basically died when she lost her parents. She'd do anything to help her grandmother. Which got me because it made me think of my grandmother. I don't know what's going to happen to her if & when she looses her grandmother. But, seeing how good Emily is, I will probably be a blubbering mess!!

I absolutely loved everybody in this book. Ryan & Mark had me laughing every time they were together.Elizabeth & Nina have a lot of secrets. But,love each other and would do anything for he other one. Even Elizabeth & Mark had me laughing. I loved watching Ryan and Elizabeth heal each other.

FEARS & SCARS

✯✯5 Scarred Stars!!!✯✯

We pick up where we left off. Ryan and Liz are engaged and so happily in love they can't see straight. Liz is finally prepared to set a wedding date. Ryan is still madly in love with Liz but he's been keeping a huge secret from her. Well, technically more then one.

Ryan finally decides to man up and tell Liz everything. But, somebody beats him. Liz's ex David comes to visit her. He wants Liz back and will do whatever he can to do to get her. David tells Liz everything before Ryan can.

Poor Liz. It seems like whenever she gets over Ryan's last lie there's a new one thrown in her face. Liz just wants Ryan to be honest with her. She's tired of every lie being the last one. Ryan is trying his best to be the man Liz deserves. It's why he continues keeping secrets from her. He's trying to make Liz hurt less. Ryan figures if he can fix everything before Liz finds out then he's doing the right thing for her. This last secret that he's keeping from her. Liz may only know half of it. But, it gets outta Ryan's hands faster then he thought. But, this one could be the end of Ryan and Liz for good.

Liz is such a strong woman. She definitely didn't give herself enough credit. I think she gave Ryan way way too many chances! Man, I couldn't deal with all the secrets he held from her. But, she loved him. And, love is was made Liz forget and forgive. Ryan is an alpha man and use to getting what he wants. In Ryan's heart he's doing the right thing by keeping these secrets from Liz. But, he's so use to protecting those he loves and Liz is no different.

I was afraid I'd forgotten what I had read BC it been awhile since book one was released. But, once I picked it up I couldn't put it down. Ryan and Liz have a love that it's unforgettable. We got a lot of answers about Emily's past revealed. Even new questions were answered. Emily did a fantastic job with this series. You'll feel every emotion that Ryan and Liz feel. My heart broke a bunch with them. And, I'd laugh with them as well.

In the end it's 2 strangers who are damaged and scarred from things in their past. They have a lot of demons in their pasts. For a couple to have so much big stuff happen so early in their relationship. It's going to take a lot for both of them to accept everything and move on.And, together. I'm so upset to say goodbye to them. I'm really hoping Mark or Nina get their story told.

Holy Emotional Roller Coaster!!!! Damaged hearts is a fitting title! I LOVED THIS DUET!!! Ryan, a man going through life trying to protect those he loved, which was a very, very short list. As skewed as his ways may have been, his heart was Always in the right place. Liz, holy hell! Life surely threw her under the bus and then ran over her repeatedly...BUT...her perseverance and will to survive all the death that surrounded her was breathtaking. She could have easily, and at times she did, just curled up into a ball and given up totally! Her half living, and Ryan half living, clashing together in the most unexpectedly and by chance way, only solidified their union and the strength of both together vs. each alone. This is my first Emily Krat read and I am immensely impressed and thoroughly excited to read more of what she has. Thank you for a most heart gripping, tear jerking, emotionally grasping, romantic, loving, sexy, read!!!! Do yourself a favor and Do Not Pass this up! <3

1.5 stars

The overall story had promise, but this "duet" needs some serious editing. It was difficult to stay in the story when there were glaring grammatical errors, words used incorrectly and continuity errors, and I don't mean once or twice. Mistakes slip by once, maybe twice, and I can accept that, but this was too much, especially when the main character's mother's name changed from the first to second book.

I also found Elizabeth (or Liz or Ellie or Liza, whatever name she was answering to at the moment) to be annoying. I wish I could explain why.

The only reason I finished the book was in the hopes that it would get better (it doesn't) and that I'm a believer in finishing what you start.
