Best Buy (NYSE: BBY) made news recently with their decision to go all in on video streaming players. Fire TV, Roku, Chromecast, Sling. If Microsoft ever released the crappy streaming device they probably have in the pipeline, I’m sure Best Buy will throw that into the mix as well. They are all being put front in center in the stores and pushed through various deals normally reserved for holiday shopping. I see this as good news for Best Buy. I’ve been to Costco quite a few times recently, and I have never seen such a focus on streaming devices. Granted, Costco is not just an electronics store, but the sell tons of TV’s. Best Buy is proving that they know what a younger consumer wants. That bodes well for their future. Because as much as the cable companies don’t want to admit it, people are cutting the cord, and it is getting worse. These streaming devices are the future, at least until something better comes along.
