Men of Mercy #4.6*

Aaron's Honor

Rate this book
This book is no longer available (it was part of Kindle Worlds which was discontinued). It is being turned from a novella into a full length novel and is being published under the title Ravished River.

As a Special Forces operative, Aaron Spears knew better than to get involved with a woman. He couldn't afford a relationship and didn't want to put anyone through the hardship of his job. But his brain had fired a blank when he asked Celine Latimer to come to the high-profile wedding of Caroline Cotter, daughter to Senator Tom Cotter, that he'd been assigned to guard. He'd been so sure this would be a cake mission - until his old rival attacked and kidnapped Celine and Caroline.

Celine Latimer thought she’d hit the jackpot with hunky SF operative Aaron Spears. They spent an entire week together flirting and training, but when push came to shove and Celine made a move, Aaron turned her down flat, leaving her broken hearted. She’d always came second in life – second to her brother and sister, second in relationships and now, second to Aaron’s mission. When terrorists kidnapped the senator’s daughter, Celine became collateral damage.

He'd been sworn to protect and he'd failed. Now Aaron lived for one purpose- to find the woman he'd lost and beg her forgiveness. Can Celine find the strength to forgive and believe in Aaron again?

Intense situations and hot emotion = explosive story…

This story continues to have all the elements of this series that I’ve come to love.

Strong, hot alpha men, protective (to a fault)
Strong, resourceful women who know how to love one way - fiercely
Suspense, action, adventure, tension, fear, danger… (whew – yes, all that!)
And a love story that hits the hearts of the hero and heroine – and mine…

While this could be read as a standalone the stories in this series intersect in a way that reading the books chronologically means you get the full on effect of each whirlwind outing. Aaron and Celine’s romance carries on from a heart-pounding ending that saw them separated emotionally and then physically…

Celine is in love but isn’t going to settle for being second-best, she deserves more. And Aaron just happens to agree with her. It is too bad that neither of them is very happy about that. A fragile flower meets a hard as stone military man? Nope – not at all. Celine is unexpectedly tough despite her vulnerability and seeing Aaron’s gentleness with the women in his life show’s there is a lot more to this tough guy than meets the undiscerning eye.

With the battles between them as heated as the war being waged around them, this quick read dove right into each skirmish with an enthusiasm that left me breathless. I wanted this crossover story to be much, much longer….

“I’d like to see him die, but the man who tried to destroy my life isn’t nearly as important to me as the woman that restored it.”

Heart flutters….

“I am safe. I’m with you.”
“Damn, right you are. I’ll protect you with my life.”
Slam dunk….

Better the second time around…

This is a newly expanded version of Aaron’s Honor, a previous Kindle world title. I loved the story the first time and having more background, more dialogue, more suspense has made this even better the second time around!

Aaron is wrestling with guilt on a number of fronts but the loss of Celine has hit him the most. Their brief time together was cut short abruptly right before a kidnapping through the chance for a reconciliation out the window. What followed was a harrowing sequence of events that was full of regret, revenge and a need to right what went horribly wrong… These two just couldn’t seem to catch a break and their way was full of pain and regret. This could have been a romance completely under a dark cloud but the characters and their refusal to give in to the darkness they could simply wallow in, saved it and made it shine…

If you’ve read them before, or picking them up for the first time, these new editions are riveting romantic adventure…

I love a Susan Stoker hero.  When I realized that the Kindle World Special Forces Operation Alpha books had cameos from some of my favorite heroes,  I began snagging them up.

What I didn't bank on was the fact that although there was a brief mention of some of the Delta Force guys, the book centered around characters that I wasn't familiar with and I felt lost at times.  It was very evident that I was missing backstories.

The hero,  Aaron, was very wishy-washy.  He was that guy who thought his job was so dangerous and he didn't want to put a woman through the constant worry about him.  So he  pushed Celine away.  It wasn't until she was kidnapped that he realized how much he needed her.

Celine was a tough smart girl.   She had been through a lot and couldn't handle any more rejection from Aaron.  It takes her being in danger for him to finally admit to her how he truly feels.

--no cheating or ow/om drama
--pushing away by hero
--not very steamy
--no epilogue! !
--HFN ending- would have loved to see where this couple ended up in their lives.  Very disappointed that we didn't get anything

This was a decent story,  I am looking into the Men of Mercy series to see if it sounds like something I would like.   Maybe I could get a better understanding of these characters

Aaron and Celine both have lived with loneliness and disastrous events from their past. Now Celine and Caroline are missing after being kidnapped outside the venue for Caroline’s wedding and Aaron’s team are doing everything they can to locate them both. Will they find them in time and will Aaron get a chance to rectify his mistake by walking away from Celine after their intimate encounter?

A fast paced suspense filled with action and danger that will keep your heart racing until the finish line! Thank you Lindsay for my advanced copy for which I willingly leave my honest review 😍

The book was sweet as a love story. Aaron and Celine's chemistry was off the charts, evident even in "Ethan's Promise". I did feel Aaron's pain at not being able to tell Celine how he truly felt as well as Celine's determination not to let her circumstances rule her.

But the thing that really put a bad taste in my mouth was the irresponsible way in which Celine's reaction toward Islam and Hijab was portrayed. Muslims and Islam being portrayed in such a way is irresponsible because it is just promoting Islamophobia. This is something that this world does not need in this day and age, because there is enough violence and death around us as it is. What one reads, views or listens to influences the way one thinks. What is practiced by those characters in the book is not Islam and they do not deserve to be called Muslims because violence and mistreatment is not Islamic in any way.

I understand that this is the portrayal of a fictional character's view and that they might not be the author's personal view. I don't mean to cause anyone offense through my words but, I don't feel this is a responsible projection especially when within this very series non-Muslim characters are contributing equally to the terrorism and violence being described. Extremism, violence and terrorism has no religion and to give it a religious label is not being fair to anyone.

Good action

Can't wait for Mr. J's comeuppance. Celine really needs to work on her attitude about the clutter she so easily creates and ignores.

Aaron and Celine have a bit of history in past books and in the previous book she was kidnapped after Aaron brought her in as a stylist and bodyguard for Caroline Cotter's wedding. Caroline was basically setup to marry a general by her father and these crazy women of Mercy decided she shouldn't have to marry someone she didn't love. She agreed and off they went. The problem was that Mr. J got to them first.

In this book it's been 2 weeks or so since she has been kidnapped and Aaron is going crazy trying to deal with his emotions about bringing her in on the mission, getting in trouble making out with her while he was supposed to be doing something else and then ignoring her through the wedding. Now Celine and Caroline are alone in Afghanistan and Celine has realized she is expendable. So have the guys and Mr. J.

She believes Aaron no longer wants her and he can't figure out why he can't breathe without her.

This is the story of how Celine and Caroline "escaped" their kidnappers but not really. You'll have to read it to take the journey. Mr. J has made some mistakes though and now the team has more information to hunt him down. Aaron just has to keep Celine alive while the team hunts for him and the connection between him and Sen.Cotter.

I love this series and this is a great novella.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I’d like to thank Buoni Amici Press for sending me an e-arc of this as well as the author for even bringing this sign up to my attention! So if you haven’t known for the last few weeks I went down a hole of reading Lindsay Cross books and I have fallen madly in love with it! I read Redemption River, Rebellious River and Resurrection River, Reckless River and Ravaged River.

So I feel like with this one it would be more beneficial if you read Rebellious River before jumping into this one because you definitely need more of the context. Although I think you could get the jist of what has happened from this book. Although if you really want to be benefited read the whole series from book 1. You won’t regret, it’s fabulous!

Anyway this story pretty much leaves from where we left Ethan’s, and Aaron and the team are looking for Celene and Caroline. This book hit me in the feels, I had so much emotions running through me when reading this book it was hard to keep up, the guilt that Aaron felt you could practically feel it pouring off the page, and also the guilt that Celine feels about Caroline and her not being back yet. As well as their relationship and the pain they felt. It was a whirlwind of emotions and I should have been prepared but I wasn’t. I was in no way prepared for feeling those emotions when they came.

I loved that we got to see some of the bonding between Caroline and Celene whilst they were kidnapped it was very interesting to see how important they were to each other and keeping each other alive. I really enjoyed those scenes.

This book was so amazing, I loved the plot, I loved that once Aaron had Celene back he wasn’t willing to let her go again. I loved their romance. Actually one of my favourite scenes in this book actually my two favourite is when Celene tells Caroline what happened when she and Aaron had sex. But even better than that was seeing it ourselves written. When the commander caught Celene and Aaron having sex I couldn’t help but laugh it was the best thing in this book and it was fabulous. I couldn’t have imagined it any better and it was my favourite bit in this book.

I do have to say I love Noni! I love that she makes an appearance in this book! Such great, characters, great plot, a great advance on the overarching plot running through the series!

This novella continues a storyline that began in another book - The Omega Team: Ethan's Promise (Men of Mercy Book 7). You do not need to have read it to read this book, but I highly suggest that you do read it first. It will help this story make more sense, plus it was a good quick read. This novella ends with a cliffhanger. There is violence and hot steamy sex so definitely 18+.

Aaron Spears is part of Task Force Scorpion (Men of Mercy series). He takes part in a "babysitting" job to guard a Senator's daughter for her wedding. He has been attracted to Celine Latimer. So when they needed an additional woman on the assignment, he suggested she be the bride's stylist. The job of protecting the Senator's daughter didn't go as planned, and a mortal enemy of the Task Force kidnaps both the Senator's daughter and Celine.

Now Aaron and the Task Force are searching in Afghanistan for the two women. Will they find the women? And if they do will Aaron and Celine take a chance on each other and finally give in to their passion? There are plenty of twists and turns in this storyline to keep you reading. As usual, things are not what as what they appeared or as was expected.

I really enjoyed this novella even though it ended with a cliffhanger, so I have to wait to see how it is resolved. I'm looking forward to reading more of the Men of Mercy books! I'm hooked on this series.

This book ties into the Men of Mercy series characters. It is also a bit of a prequel to the former bride, Caroline's story in the Operation Mayhem series. It is a novella and can be read as a stand-alone but a lot of backstory proceeds this, so it might be confusing. The heroine, Celine, started her story in the previous book (now titled Rebellious River). It includes her training by Aaron to be Caroline's stylist and bodyguard for her wedding. That led to her being kidnapped at the end of the last book.

This book opens a few weeks later as the men are in the Middle East searching for Mr. J and where he has Caroline and Celine, whom he had kidnapped. The story is duel PoV of Aaron and the men working on their mission. Then Celine and her captors.

There is suspense and some mystery mixed in with this romance. Aaron feels very guilty for bringing Celine into the mission and very protective of her safety and feelings for what she has gone through. Celine, understandably, has a lot of emotional baggage along with her physical injuries. She is having a hard time with Aaron's hot and cold attitude, even as he has feelings for her and yet wants to give her space to heal. The back and forth pull is sometimes frustrating. This story generally wraps up, but it also leaves clues into the next couple books.

Special Operative Aaron Speirs is the assistant medical Sergeant and weapons expert and has had his whole life flipped upside down when the girl he wants to be with is grabbed in an undercover operation and now he needs to get her back.

Celine Latimer can't believe her luck when she ends up with Aaron one night but when he walks away in the morning she is left heartbroken. When she is taken with Caroline Cotter she knows she has to do what it takes to survive.

Will Aaron be able to get to Celine before it's too late?

This is another great book in the series and I am loving where all of this is headed!

I felt bad for Aaron with losing Celine as it was obvious how much he cared about her but after their night together he was afraid of mixing her in with his crazy life. I knew there was nothing he wouldn't do to get her safe!

Celine was a great character and I loved that she never gave up. I was shocked at who initially "rescued" her but also understood that everything was not as it appeared to be!

Towards the end I was completely shocked at the turn of events that I was not expecting and I was very happy that Aaron got there in time!

The end of the book was filled with action and I loved that everything was worked out!

Can't wait for more in the series!

**I received a copy of Ravished River from the author in exchange for an honest review** If you've read Aaron's Honor from the Kindle World this is a expanded story of Aaron and Celine.

Aaron Spears regrets saying turning away Celine Latimer when she took a chance and told him she was attracted to him. Now he's in Afghanistan with Task Force Scorpion on a mission to rescue both Caroline Cotter and Celine who were kidnapped at Caroline's wedding. But first they have to find them, but Mr. J their former CIA operative has made things worse by turning traitor and siding with ISA. A colleague gives them a lead on where the girls might be, Aaron quickly joins Task Force-Scorpions to rescue them.

Celine is being held hostage with Caroline and for two weeks they have been starved and beaten. Once Aaron and his team have rescued them, she is returned back to the US with Aaron as her protector. There is still something off with both Mr. J and Caroline still missing. It will take everything Celine and Aaron have to keep her safe because there are double agents everywhere.

I really liked Ravished River and it a very addition to the Men of Mercy series and a sweet read.

Ravished River by Lindsay Cross is a great read. It is Book 6 in the Men of Mercy series. This is the story of Aaron and Celine. She was hired to work with the group to help with the wedding of the head of JSOC’s daughter. Aaron is a First Sergeant/Medical Sergeant (recruited from Delta Force) in Task Force Scorpion (TF-S). He is tasked to train Celine for the mission they will be going on. When they first meet both feel an immediate connection with each other but they try to hide it and ignore it. They have one night together before the wedding. The bride (Caroline) and Celine are kidnapped from the wedding. Will outside forces come between them and end their budding relationship? Will Aaron forgive himself and get over his past issues and let their relationship blossom? Will they get their HEA? To get the answers you will need to read the book. There is action and suspense, highs and lows, twists and turns. I definitely recommend this book. I can't wait to read the next book from Lindsay Cross.

This was a novella, but it moved the overall storyline along. In the last book, we met Kate and Celine when they joined the special forces group who were protecting Caroline during her wedding. Her father is a senator and they were hired to just make sure nothing happened before the wedding. Well, Caroline, Kate, and Celine decided to run out on the wedding because Caroline didn't want to marry the guy. They were kidnapped and we pick up in this novella with Celine and Caroline being in a tiny building being held by their kidnappers. (Kate escaped in the last book). Anyway, without giving spoilers for this book, we move the Mr. J storyline along a lot and actually find out some pretty important information about him and his motives behind most of what he's been doing this whole time. We also see Aaron struggling with the ghosts of his past as he tries to decide if he's going to go all in with Celine or walk away. Solid read and I like how the big storyline moved and the direction it's going.

I read Ravished River in the Love Under Siege anthology. This story takes place immediately after Rebellious River and I highly recommend reading that first or you will be confused. Aaron Speirs and the rest of the team have been searching for hairstylist Celine Latimer and Caroline Cotter since they were kidnapped prior to Caroline's wedding. Aaron has desires and demons. He desires Celine but his demons had kept him from pursuing a relationship with her. Now he regrets the choices that he made and is determined to rescue Celine and right his wrongs. Celine is a tough lady. She has been through a lot but she's in deep trouble now and needs someone to come to her aid. I am a fan of the Men of Mercy books so I was excited to read Aaron's story. I can't say much without giving it away but I was not disappointed! It's told from dual POV and it's loaded with action, angst, intrigue and heat too! 4* for this one.

This book starts off with Celine and Caroline in a cell after they were kidnapped at Caroline's wedding. Aaron and his team as in the desert looking for both women. They are also looking for Mr. Just, the man responsible for killings and attempted killings of his team and their families. Aaron and his team find out where the women are being held and are hoping to get to then before they are moved. When they are able to find Celine and not Caroline, Aaron decides to stay with Celine while the rest look for Caroline and Mr. J. Celine and Aaron are perfect for each other. They have off the charts chemistry and such a strong connection. Aaron will do whatever it takes to keep Celine safe. There is action, misunderstandings, and two people who have had things happen in their past that shaped them into who they are today. This was a great storyline with great characters. These are all standalone, but I think you can have a better understanding and enjoyment of read in order.

You can never go wrong with a story by Ms. Cross.
One of the things I love about this author is that she gives us alphas full of imperfections and strong women. This one is no different.
The story belongs to Special Forces operative, Aaron Spears and Celine Latimer.
Aaron has been a loner , dedicating his life to his country . Having seen his parents relationship, he’s vowed to not get involved with anyone. That was until one night with Celine Latimer. The woman who has been kidnapped and taken to the Middle East. The woman he feels responsible for and fears he’ll be the one to blame if she is killed.
Will Aaron and his Team be able to rescue her? And if they do, will he and Celine have a second chance?
Another winner in the series.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

This is part of the Men of Mercy series and follows on from Rebellious River when Celine, Caroline and Kate are kidnaped. Aaron blames himself and his dismissal of Celine for leading to her kidnap by the nemesis of Task Force Scorpion, Mr J. Too late he realises he loves her.

Celine has never been put first by anyone in her life and believes she is unlikely to be rescued except as part of a rescue attempt for Caroline, Senator Cotter’s daughter.

The book is fast paced and well written. Having read the previous books I am invested in the story and the characters and always eager to get the next instalment. For me this is 5 star all the way.

I received this book as an ARC in return for an honest unbiased review and can confirm that the views expressed are entirely my own.

Ravished River by the ever talented Lindsay Cross is a story with a whole lot of danger, intrigue, suspense, action and definitely some passion. These characters are strong vulnerable and all around lovable. This is a fast paced story that will keep you on the edge of your seat. A really well written story that will have you turning the pages as fast as you can.
Aaron Spears a Special Forces Operative is on a mission with his team searching for a kidnapped senators daughter Caroline and her stylist Celine Latimer. Aaron is feeling guilty because he couldn’t keep Celine safe. After all she was only there because he got her the job.
Will his team find the women before any harm comes to them? I read Radishes River in the Love Under Siege anthology.

This was a fantastic story, but I’m not sure it stands alone very well. The entire time I was reading it, I felt like I’d started in the middle of the story. (After doing a quick scan of the author’s other titles, I’ve discovered that this does occur approximately in the middle of the series.) Even without having read the books before or after this, it’s easy to see the connection between Aaron and Celine. I can also perfectly understand Aaron’s anguish over the position he’s been put in, and Celine’s doubts about what’s really between the pair. Having read this, I now have an overwhelming desire to go read the rest of the books that flank this story.
I received a complimentary copy of this book.

This is an intense, gripping and thrilling story. Aaron is tough, determined and protective. Celine is brave, resilient and strong. After they end up in bed, Aaron turns his back on Celine, and she promptly gets kidnapped. Wild with rage and worry Aaron is determined to get her back, and never let her go again. Celine and Caroline are kept in a room with no windows and no food until they fight their way out, only to get "rescued" by the the man who had them kidnapped. There is a shocking twist in this book, one that could emotionally scar several people, and explain a lot. This was another great story in the series and I can't wait to read the next one.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.

So much action for a short story!

This book has a lot of action going on for such a short story. I found this story to be entertaining. I enjoyed both the heroine and hero in previous books, so I was happy to finally read their story. Aaron has always seemed like the sweetest in the bunch and after meeting Noni I understand why. I think all readers will fall in love with Noni as much as I have. I was happy the author did a time line flash back for us, it helped me with a when did that happen moment. I enjoyed the heroine very much, I also liked that she's was able to handle more than hair color and scissors! If you like quick reads with action, suspense, and some sexy scenes this is a great book to read.

Action packed military tale with a twist. This story is a follow on from Ethan’s tale. When Celine and Caroline are kidnapped, they end up in a small hut in the Middle East, wondering if they will be rescued. They are finally rescued by a man they think is sent by the Senator, unfortunately, that may not be the case. Aaron is determined to get Celine back as he feels she may be considered collateral damage. Will Aaron rescue Celine in time? Who is the mysterious man, and what secrets does the woman in the blue burka have for them all? This is an action packed tale with heartbreak and despair, sorrow and joy and a large twist for future books. This series just keeps getting better and better.

Aaron and Celine-I love these two together. Before Celine was kidnapped along with the Senator's daughter, Aaron screwed up his relationship with Celine, making her feel like his only motive was to use her and toss her away. Why not?! That's what she'd been used to right?! But Aaron made it his mission to find both the women and to never leave Celine's side again. Celine, being held captive for weeks, survived a terrible ordeal, and proved to be a strong and capable heroine. And I loved how Aaron was there for her every step of the way.

Even though this book focused a lot on trying catch the evil traitor Mr. J and rescuing the kidnapped girls, it was pretty good. The action, danger, and suspense was just enough to keep me intrigued with the story.

Two things though: The traitor is still in the wind; the grammatical errors-ugh!

Aaron loves his crazy family, even his interfering Nonni. And he has burgeoning feelings for Celine but a lapse in his judgement left her feeling used and discarded and then she was kidnapped. Aaron feels responsible and is determined to find her. Wherever in the world she is.

Celine has been trying to keep Caroline's spirits up but they manage to leap from one fire into another. Even once she is back in the safety of the USA the danger continues.

Aaron and Celine are another great match! I love the Men of Mercy series and the various offshoots. Celine may be all about the pretty things but she is no superficial, saccharine sweet ninny.

When Celine is kidnapped because Aaron put her in a position he shouldn't have he can't get past this. He is trying to save her and Caroline when they run into all kinds of stuff. She experiences things she wishes she never had to and there is a lot going on. Keeps you interested and wanting to know what will happen to both girls.

Great

Celine was helping the Special Forces team scorpion protect a woman getting married, when she was kidnapped. Celine is a hairdresser and was kept for two weeks in Afghanistan. She’s almost raped but defends herself and runs into an American man. She thinks the man is there to rescue them but he plans to sell Celine and keep Caroline. Before she can be delivered, Aaron and his team rescues her. Aaron is part of the team and has swore to never get involved with a woman. But Celine has broken through his walls and he’ll do anything to protect her.
Action, suspense and steamy. I love this series. Mrs. Cross does an excellent job telling a story.
