I really loved this book. It was a rock star romance but with a different twist which is what I loved. For me it a unique storyline when it comes to a rock star romance.

Lexie is a nurse who works long hard hours but loves her job. She has a good life, that includes a great job, a best friend, Simone, who is always there for her and their mutual love of the band Survival of the Fittest. They have been fans of theirs since before they became famous. Her and Simone go to see them play and to her surprise is pulled up on stage to dance wih Oliver Honeycutt, the sexy lead singer. The day after attending their concert she is shocked to see that Bailey, one of the band's members is her new patient. And to then find out that due to him being ill, Bailey and his brother Oliver will have to stay in Town for a while.

Lexie is continually assigned as Baileys nurse. So of course she becomes close with him and his brother and becomes a great support system for them as well. But this is the part of the story that I loved and thought was different. It wasn't Bailey, her patient, that she had a connection with. It was his brother Oliver. From the moment he met her he felt it. He wanted to know everything about her. As much as Lexie felt that same connection she was afraid to give into her feelings. She has issues where trust is concerned and she also knows that once Bailey is better they will both be on the next plane back to LA.

Oliver is not one to give up though. He feels something for her. She in unlike anyone he has ever been with and that's why he is drawn to her. Over time can Oliver break her walls down and make her see how good they can be together?

Oliver was nothing like I expected him to be. And maybe I expected that stereo typical rock star. But he was anything but. He was kind, caring, and completely swoon worthy. I love the slow build to their relationship and how he continued to purse her, not giving up because he knew the connection between them was real.

Lexie was a great at character. She took care of not only Bailey but Oliver as well. She was there for the both of them during this hard time. She became a part of their little circle but that was also the things that scared her the most. What would happen when Bailey was able to leave and go home. Afraid to give her heart to a man who had the ability to crush it.

The connection between Oliver and Lexie was real and you felt it from the moment they met. While it was only a few months that they knew each other it wasn't insta love at all. It felt like they took their time and that's what made it feel real and what I loved about it. Lexie proceeded with caution while Oliver did everything he could to take it slow but also show her how much he wanted to know her, to be with her. I love the two of them together.

The supporting characters were such a wonderful addition to this story. I loved Bailey and really hope he gets his own book story. He had such a sweet relationship with Lexie that I loved. And then there was her best friend Simone who was the perfect best friend. I loved their relationship.

This is the first book I have read by this author but it won't be my last. I hope we get to see more of the characters from this book that I fell in love with.

I think everyone would love to be that face in the crowd at a rock concert; the one the musician locks eyes with and something is felt between the two of them on the scale of something much bigger than star/fan. Oliver was just that star and Lexie was that face. Never thinking that they would see each other again Lexie had the surprise of her life as she went to her job on the oncology floor at the hospital she worked only to see Oliver’s brother, Bailey, fighting some real life health issues. Oliver never left his brother’s side so the everyday connection between Lexie and Oliver only grew as they both discovered things neither of them ever saw coming.

I loved this rock romance with a twist because it gave you the rock star and some real life in your face situations. This book took me on a ride that would give you hope one minute only to have that hope dashed by the very next page. I just wished I hadn’t waited so long to read this book because this is one I will remember because it gave me my rock star quota along with something a little different. One of the lessons was that your future and dreams could be right in front of you so don’t let your past hold you back because you just may miss out on true happiness.

I received this book as an ARC for a freely given and honest review.

Ms Kirby, you had me at rock star.

I didn't know much about this book at all until I started it, but it was a really enjoyable read.

We have all had that fantasy that we will get pulled up on stage at our favourite act's concert, and they would fall immediately in love with us, right?

I liked the Lexie and Oliver's story was different from the usual rock star and their vices. I was drawn into the story, the emotions ran high and felt raw and real.

There are wonderful secondary characters and I am looking forward to getting their stories in the future.

This was just pure and sweet romance, and this old duck thoroughly enjoyed it.

Alexis (Lexie) is a nurse in the Oncology department of her hospital. Lexie is 5'3" and has a strained relationship with her mother Donna. Simone is an aspiring writer, temporary nanny. The 2 are best friends and have a love for the band Survival of the Fittest. Simone is a pop culture junkie, drives a mini cooper and is 5'10".

They attend a Survival of the Fittest concert and Lexie gets pulled on stage by Oliver Honeycutt. She is beyond thrilled. The next day Bailey Honeycutt is admitted to the hospital and diagnosed with Leukemia. Lexie will be seeing a lot of the band now. Bailey will have to stay in Atlanta while he seeks treatment which means Oliver (his brother) will be staying as well.

Simone gets a great opportunity and moves to California while Lexie continues to live in GA. Oliver wants to start a relationship with Lexie but she is scared he will leave.

This was a good story and I liked the best friends relationship and how they handled the move.

4 Stars.

I love a good rocker romance I can just fall into the pages and not come up for air until the last page.
Alexis AKA Lexie is an caring oncology nurse, with a flair for being fiesty.
Oliver is the lead singer and heartthrob that is surprisingly down to earth.
These two form an unlikely friendship when he visits his brother at the hospital. She is kind to them like she is with every patient but she doesn't take crap. It's simple to see how these two are meant for each other before they do. I really enjoyed getting to meet these characters and would love to see more from these guys!

I really enjoyed this rock star romance. I liked it enough that I want to read on in the series and see what else the band is up to. All of the band members (Oliver, Bailey, Dave and Leo) were so likable.

I received a gifted copy in exchange for a honest review.

A Face in the Crowd is a top 2016 favorite. I will be honest. It is an swoon worthy emotional story that had me in tears to laughter throughout the book. The story contains a subject very dear to my heart that the minute I read the words leukemia, I broken down in tears. I hope you don't mind my heart felt honesty in this review, but I don't know how to do this book justice without.

I first want to start off with the characters. Our main characters, Alexis and Oliver, just clicked with each other. Alexis, though, fought it all the way. She lived a life caring and loving and in her profession sometimes it hurt. Oliver was the band member of Survival of the Fittest. Alexis had been a fan of the band since before they made it big. Oliver and his band have a stop over in Atalanta where they end up having to stay. One of the bandmates and brothers is extremely ill. That is where it became emotional to me. We also had secondary characters such as Alexis's best friend, Simone. She was the yin to Alexis's yang.

When I read about what was happening with the bandmate, it brought me back to the fight that my family member had similarly to theirs. Unfortunately, my family lost the fight last December. I was a lot like Oliver. The caregiver and huge supporter of my ill mother. Christina Kirby does a phenomal job of telling the toll what a life and death illness does to the friends and family as well as the patient. I could feel through the pages the emotions that was occurring. The times of laughter and the times of heartbreaking tears. The bonding that occurs, and the times of setback that makes you hold your breath. I could also have sympathy for what oncology nurses go through on a daily basis. This novel totally knocked me off my feet. It is a story that gave me hope for those out there even in my circumstance when the situation was different.

If I had any ability to make Christina's newest novel a best selling one I would definitely do it. Honestly, ladies and gents it is that good. I would shout from every rooftop to purchase and read this book. It is one I will go back, reread, and relive every moment.

I hope this heartfelt review entices you to try this book out. I know you will not be disappointed. And a shout out to Christina for providing readers with the beautiful piece of written art.

Happy Reading!!!!

As a fan of rockstar romances I was immediately drawn to this story, expecting the usual depiction of vices and eroticism. What I got instead was an emotionally intense story of life and death set amidst the bright lights and exhilaration of being onstage. From the first page to the last readers are taken on a journey of highs and lows, melodrama and cheer-inducing moments, that kept me glued to the pages and ready for more once I reached The End.

Alexis Hightower’s a dedicated nurse, competent and caring to her patients. In scenes that were vividly depicted, showing the hustle and bustle of nursing, readers will get caught up in Lexie’s emotions and dedication to caring for those dealing with serious illnesses. It’s clear it’s one of the few things she’s devoted to courtesy of an emotionally rocky past. After a childhood spent with a self-involved mother more concerned with finding a rich husband than caring for her child, Lexie developed a thick skin that permeates her relationships and colors her views on love and HEA. An ex who cheated on her has also contributed to her doubts about HEA. Besides work and time spent with her best friend Simone, the only other love in Lexie’s life is the rock band Survival of the Fittest. When yet another amazing concert finds her being pulled up on stage by the band’s lead singer her life takes an unexpected turn that will have her questioning all her beliefs and finally willing to take a chance. Lexie’s a likable heroine for the most part, willing to stick up for her patients and herself in a romance that moved pretty slowly. While she’s confident in her nursing skills she has issues with her self-esteem that have her questioning the attraction Oliver constantly directs at her and which she can’t help but reciprocate. With her past of feeling lacking though, and with a few secondary characters fueling her negativity, it leads to a frustrating and rocky road to HEA that kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end.

Oliver Honeycutt seems to be living a charmed life with his band touring arenas, beloved by millions, and able to afford whatever he wants. The night he brings a young woman on stage makes him feel even more on top of the world as he feels an undeniable connection to the mystery woman. It all comes crashing down into meaninglessness though when his little brother, and bandmate, Bailey gets diagnosed with Leukemia. From that moment on music takes a backseat to getting Bailey healthy in a vividly depicted journey full of heartbreak and uncertainty. Discovering that his brother’s nurse is his mystery woman gives him a bit of joy though amidst fear over his brother and he turns on the charm to turn their casual connection into something more. Issues with their manager, along with jealousies from one of Lexie’s co-workers, leads to unnecessary melodrama and roadblocks to a HEA he’s more than willing to fight for. Oliver’s a charming hero who’s loving and supportive to his family and friends. He’s far from the typical rockstar as he hasn’t let fame change him. He enjoys the life, the traveling, but longs to find a woman of substance who sees him instead of his persona. Lexie’s the woman who calms him from the very start and fits in perfectly with his family and bandmates but it’s a struggle to get her to see their similarities instead of the differences that have her scared to reach for HEA. Time and again though Oliver proved himself to be a delicious hero. He was sweet and caring and shows Lexie how much she means to him in many subtle ways as their sensual relationship slowly morphs into more.

This was an enjoyable read full of immensely appealing characters along with moments of melodrama balanced with the realities of dealing with a life-altering illness. Lexie’s an admirable heroine held back by her past who has quite a struggle with overcoming her issues with self-esteem and believing in HEA. It’s a struggle that sometimes frustrated me as she was quick to assume the worst and slow to accept the obvious love of Oliver. Luckily she had her friend Simone as a supportive sounding board. Simone was the more vocal of the two, the one to quickly stand up in defense of another and who’s starting a flirtation with another character which I hope to see more of. When it comes to Oliver, he’s near-perfect as a book boyfriend as he’s charming and willing to wear his heart on his sleeve as he makes numerous grand gestures to show her how much he cares for her. Their relationship was slow to start with a definite warmth, and numerous sweet interludes, that finally culminated in a richly rewarding encounter very late in the story that had me cheering. Alongside this engaging main couple was a colorful cast of secondary characters that added heart and soul, as well as melodrama, to the story. The other members of Survival of the Fittest often brought a smile to my face with their playful interactions and unwavering support. Each member’s unique personality shown through throughout the story with Leo being the larger than life flirt of the band while Dave was the quiet and reliable one who seems to already have his HEA. Bailey’s the final bandmember and the one to capture my attention the most. His struggle with a life-threatening illness was realistically depicted and his reactions to it made me chuckle one moment and brought a tear to my eye the next. He’s boyishly sweet and it’s clear he longs for what Oliver has with Lexie which has me hoping that more stories are coming for these other lovable and compelling bandmates. When it came to Lexie’s mother and the band’s manager though, I was often left annoyed. Their few scenes made me want to pull my hair out as they were predictable in their villainy and obvious in their manipulations and over the top reactions. Their inclusion dimmed my overall enjoyment and took the story in a soap opera-ish direction that thankfully didn’t last long and that I quickly forgot once the deliciously charming Oliver came back on the scene. On a whole I found this a satisfying read that I hope doesn’t end here as the other members of Survival of the Fittest deserve their own HEAs after fully tempting readers throughout this story.

This was a cute fun read that pulls you in. I wouldn’t say it was realistic but a great fantasy that most of us wish would happen to us. With Alexis being a nurse when they bring in her heartthrob brother who is really sick she gets to meet and get to know the singer she has had a crush on for years. As she takes care of his brother, giving them her sassy attitude that keeps them smiling through hard times she is able to take the sick brother into hand giving him some much needed advice that brings him around and makes him the lovable man he is. At the same time she fights her feeling for his brother Oliver. As she gets to know him it gets harder when he lays on the charm which keeps her knees weak and her mind full of dreams. The plot is based around them and his brothers sickness it is filled with sorrow, smiles, laughs and drama.

I have listened to a few of Ms. Kahn’s narration and there is still the echo that really takes away from the audio performance. The narration it’s self is really very good, it would be a wonderful audio if there wasn’t the echo. There are a few places where she repeats a few words or a sentence. A couple of very slight volume changes that you almost do not notice. Her character voices are wonderful , you have no trouble knowing who is talking and what they are feeling. Her normal voice is very pleasant, her male and female voices are delightful. Beside the echo which after awhile you do not notice (I guess I got use to it) there is no background noises. I am guessing with the repeat of wording is when breaks were taken. I did enjoy the audio and felt she bought it to life. There were times I chuckled and times I really was very sad and my heart broke for the characters. I put that down to the narration really being able to make me feel what she was saying. She puts a lot of emotion into her reading that does pull the listener in. I am saying again she really needs to think about getting a filter to take the echo out which would really give this audio a five stars.

I really enjoyed the plot, the way the author put the problems out there but was still able to make you chuckle and smile through her humor in the characters. Alexis does have some issues from her past which rolls over to her present. Falling for a heartthrob with so many fans is hard, not knowing if it is the fame that is the pull or if it is really love is hard. We all have a picture in our heads of what are heartthrobs are like but are they truly like that or when you get to know them will they be different. Alexis has to deal with his fans, his mother and other people who are jealous of her plus her past which makes it hard to trust anyone. For every step forward there is someone pushing them a few steps back.

Oliver is past a different girl for every night he is looking for the ONE. Every woman he meets is after his fame they want to the women on his arm and to get some of his money but they do not want to get to know him. When he meets Alexis she is down to earth, puts them in their place and treats them like normal people. This grabs his attention and holds it. As he gets to know her he finds she is the women he wants but they live states away from each other and she isn’t willing to give them a chance. He isn’t giving up but things aren’t going to be easy for either of them.

What made this story for me was the easy way the plot twists and turns pulling on your heartstrings but keeping you smiling as your heart breaks. The humor of the characters, I just love the boy’s mother she is a lady tiger who protects her clubs. At first I thought Oh NO not one of those mothers but as you get to know her she is a delightful woman. I loved the way the romance builds, the picking and teasing between them all. Her best friend is out of this world, I so want her for my besty. This is a very clean read up until close to the end. I really liked that, there was no jumping into bed but some really heart to heart chats, getting to know each other and some very meaningful time spent with just them, friends and family and some one on one time for each character to have some alone time. The story really came together making the reader really like the characters, plot and the true meaning of a relationship. This is the first time I have read/listen to anything by this author but it won’t be the last. I loved her writing style and how she pulls you in from the first page keeping your attention until the last.

Pure romance within the first few pages. A Face In The Crowd
is just a good 'ole romance. Maybe not written for an older mature crowd. But this older mature reader really enjoyed it!

They had me at the cover!

The characters were just nice and sweet.

Lexie is a young woman looking to have some fun on the weekend after many long hours at a stressful job. Dealing with very sick patients can take it's toll. But Lexie is very good at her job.

After a brief encounter at a concert Oliver's brother lands in the cancer treatment center were Lexie works. Lexie remembers the moment their eyes connected the night before.

It doesn't take long for Lexie and Oliver to realize their interest in one another. When another nurse makes a mistake Lexie ends up being assigned as Bailey's (Oliver's brother) head nurse.

As Lexie and the brothers and the band members begin to become friends Lexie and Oliver struggle with their growing interest in each other.

Lexie can't imagine a even a few months of a relationship with the famous band member let alone a lifetime. Allowing ex-girl friends come on scene and the bands manager, and even her mother stir up trouble Lexie struggles with the truth that Oliver really is in love with her and wants a relationship.

In the end after a bit of a surprise and twist in the managers relationship with the band Lexie and Oliver make the commitment to each other.

I enjoyed the ending instead of an Epilogue the author gave us an Encore.

If you are a fan of a good sweet romance with closed doors to the bedroom and no language you'll love A Face In The Crowd.
It was refreshing to read a romance with a famous rock star that was just a nice guy.

I received a complimentary copy from Buoni Amici Press.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I started reading this book. I knew it was a rockstar romance, and I knew Lexie was a nurse, but that was about it.

What followed was a gorgeous story of compassion, attraction, and accepting that life doesn't always follow the path you choose for yourself.

I have to admit, I expected Oliver to be a bit of a dick, but he never once came across that way. Yes he enjoys the spoils of fame - the girls and the money, but other than that he's prretty laid back.

Lexi is serious. Yes, she knows to have fun when she's with her best friend Simone, but at work she's all business. She cares for her patients and she obviously loves her job.

So, when these two meet, it's a bit of a mismatch, yet works wonderfully. They're brought together by illness, but bond over their affection for Oliver's brother, Bailey.

Usually, as a nurse, Lexi is able to keep herself at arm's length from her patients, but in this case it's not just Bailey she's caring for and getting through stuff. It's his older brother too.

As time moves on, Lexi gets scared. She attempts to distance herself... not always the best idea.

Although the book takes place over a fairly short space of time, it never feels rushed - apart from the epilogue. To me, that was the one downside of the book and I wished it went into a little more depth.

4.5 STARS!!!

This was such a great read that I'm already looking for my next read from this author. I love rockstar romances and although we didn't get the full rockstar tour from this read, we still got the full effect of the band together as bandmates, brothers and friends who love each other. Bailey is a huge part of this story because he brought Oliver and Lexie together. Oliver and Lexi really bonded and developed a relationship and friendship that eventually led to love by being there, supporting and taking care of Bailey. I didn't think I would like Oliver and Bailey's mom but she definitely came around. I disliked Lexie's mom Donna and I disliked Andy. I thought the drama with Andy was unnecessary but it sure kept me interested to see how things would work. I enjoyed A Face in the Crowd and I recommend it to readers who enjoy a good rockstar romance read filled with great friendships and love.

I received this ARC for free for a honest review.
It is a wonderful and swoon worthy story. Lexi rocks, she Is a nurse on the cancer floor and she gets pulled on stage by her crush, a singer of her favorite band. It could not happen to a better person. It was even better because she and her friends were fans of them before they got famous.
The singer Oliver is swoon worthy and down to earth I was cheering for them from the beginning.
Lexi's friend is funny and an awesome friend.
I like how persistent Oliver was in pursuing Lexi, not caring he was famous and she was not.
You got to get this book.

Engaging Story Despite the Audio Quality. I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review. I'm not a fan of a single narrator performing both male and female POV's unless the story is written in 3rd person. Despite this fopa, the audio recording has issues that was almost distracting enough that I wasn't sure I would finish listening to the audiobook. Luckily, the writing is captivating enough to keep my interest and I fully enjoyed the story.

I voluntarily reviewed a book gifted to me by the author with no obligation.

This is the first book I have read by this author, and I loved it. It had a lot of the things I love when reading a book. There was a rock star, a nurse, someone ill, a build up in the relationship, and a HEA, not to mention a great best friend.
I really didn't want to put the book down and wished there were more to the story. I could have kept reading about Alexis and Oliver.
I hope this is a series so we can hear more of the characters in this book.

A Face in the Crowd

The story starts out with her going to a concert with her best friend. At the concert she gets pulled up into the stage. Later the next day at work she sees the band members on her ears in the hospital. The lead singer's brother is ill. The story revolves around the two people. Who is there to get him better. Left is the nurse and Oliver is the brother. Like most musicians story he has to overcome the stigma attached to being a rock star. Can he do that? Or will others get in the way to their happiness?

I enjoyed this book but there were a few take-aways for me. The build up was a great slow simmer and it felt genuine and believable. That being said I got confused when the POVs changed and it took a few seconds for me to catch on. This kept throwing me. I expected sabotage from a different direction than the way it came. The turn with their manager was good but I couldn't figure out why she believed him. I also though her Mom's visit wasn't needed.

At least it has a HEA

Not to spoil the ending but the last chapter seems rushed to end the story and explain Andy's behavior. And why bother introducing Donna? We already learned enough about her from the descriptions by Simone and Lexie. The story is a good concept and I will likely read the next book in the series but I wish the author had spent more time with building the ending.

Sweet love story

This story was not bad. It was predictable and a bit dug out. The female in the book was naive and dirty of a pushover.

Sleep, work, eat and repeat is the life of Lexie Hightower. She is nurse who has a stressful, demanding and rewarding job. She loves what she does for a living but she always knows how to have fun. She loves music and adventure. So, when her favorite band was in town, she and her best friend listened to them play.
Oliver Honeycutt is the front man of the band. With a chance encounter, Lexie was brought up on stage. Envious of so many women wishing that they were her. Leaving the stadium, she was on a high and a night she would never forget.
When Lexie returned to work the following day, she was presented with quite a surprise. She was assigned to a member of the band who was also Oliver's brother. With canceled shows and the tour because of illness, Lexie became close with the patient, the band and Oliver. She started having feelings for Oliver.
Lexie has serious trust issues and has been burned by others. She doesn't want to get close to Oliver. Her heart can't take being broken when he leaves and resumes his life back in LA. Then it finally happened and they kissed. This kiss wasn't any ordinary kiss. This kiss defined them. Oliver awakened her heart. Oliver knew that Lexie was the one. He wanted an adventure with her and be by her side.

I really enjoyed reading A Face in the Crowd. Actually, I couldn't put it down. Several chapters hit home with illness and having to question why did this happen to me. Cherish the life you have and live up to the fullest.

Are you a music lover? Concert junkie?! Ever wondered what it would be like to make-out with the lead singer of a band? Yeah, me too and that's one of the many reasons that I loved this book! On top of all that, it was set in Atlanta which is near and dear to my heart. It was just believable enough to make me wonder...could this happen to me one day? I couldn't put it down because I couldn't wait to see what happened next and it didn't disappoint!! The characters were down to earth and as normal as a rock band and a nurse in a high stress job can be. But seriously, another great one by Christina Kirby!!

first time I read anything by this author. great story. I had some difficulty reading the parts at the hospital and bailey being sick and in treatment. but Oliver and Lexie's story is sweet. she has trust issues he is a rockstar. she is helping him get through his brother being sick, she is helping Bailey through it as well. Oliver pursues Lexie and at first and even during their relationship she ran hot and cold because she was afraid to get hurt and follow in her mother's footsteps, who was on husband number 5. but with her friend encouraging her and Oliver not giving up, even with obstacles they manage to find their happily ever after.

Liked enough to be reading a 2nd time. I wouldn't consider this a traditional rockstar book. Lexie is a nurse and big fan of Survival of the Fittest, the band Oliver is the lead singer of. Lexie ends up being the nurse assigned to Bailey, another band member and Oliver's brother. This story almost falls more into the medical trope of nurse falls for brother of patient than rockstar.
