Broadway is headed to Orlando.
Stars of the Great White Way will unite to perform in a July 25 concert to benefit the victims of last month’s tragedy at a gay nightclub in the Florida city, the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.
Titled “From Broadway With Love: A Benefit Concert for Orlando,” the event — to be held at the Walt Disney Theater at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Orlando — will feature performances and appearances by Chita Rivera, Kelli O’Hara, Jessie Mueller and Brian Stokes Mitchell, among others.
Michael J. Moritz, Jr. will serve as music director. Norbert Leo Butz, Carmen Cusack, Andrea McArdle, Lillias White, Andrea Burns, Liz Callaway, Josh Henry, Keala, Anika Larsen, Justin Sargent, Carrie Manolakos, Seth Rudetsky and Christine Pedi also will be featured in the performance lineup.
Net proceeds raised from the performance (including forthcoming audio and video recordings) will be donated equally between the GLBT Community Center of Central Florida, Hope and Help Center of Central Florida and Zebra Coalition. Tickets will go on sale Friday.
