Kilwinning Rangers boss Chris Strain has admitted he is resigned to losing teenage striking sensation Ross Stewart .

The 19-year-old has been linked with a number of senior clubs after a terrific first season at Abbey Park.

Strain revealed this week that the beanpole frontman sees his future away from Abbey Park.

But the gaffer insists he won’t be allowed to go on the cheap.

He said: “A number of senior clubs have been in for Ross but none of them have met our valuation of him. In fact they were way under what we are looking for.

Stewart's electric form last season has made him a target for senior clubs

“We’ve actually had better bids from some junior clubs but we’re not prepared to sell him to a rival.

“Ross has made it clear he want to have a go at senior football and if we get a fair offer for him we won’t stand in his way.

“He’s doesn't want to be here next season and to be honest I can’t see him returning to the club now.

“But something will have to happen over the next few weeks for things to change.

“We have a duty to look after the club’s finances and we will only let players go if the price is right.”
