5 Drool-Worthy Baked Cheese Tarts in Klang Valley

Egg tarts are so yesterday. Sure, they are the undisputed classic delicacies for decades. But it’s time to make way for a new kid tart on the block, and the name is baked cheese tarts. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, baked cheese tarts are simply delectable. Imagine every single bite that you sink your teeth onto the crunchy crust before immersing into the oozing goodness of a cheese filling... Well, long story short, here are the five places to get your hands of these nice cheesy morsels.

1. Tokyo Secret @ IPC Shopping Centre

Hailed all the way from Hong Kong, Tokyo Secret finally debuted in Malaysia at the IPC Shopping Centre in Mutiara Damansara. They are, of course, specialising in Hanjuku Cheese Tart a.k.a. Japanese Cheese Tart. Baked fresh and hot from the oven on a daily basis, the cheese tarts are specially made using a combination of top-quality French butter for the crust and air-flown cheese for the filling. While the price (RM7.90 per piece!) is obviously on the steep side, their cheese tarts are still worthy enough to try for. Apart from the signature cheese tarts, you can also savour their Fusion Affogato and special theme ice cream series.

On top of their first Malaysia outlet at the IPC Shopping Centre, Tokyo Secret can be found in 1 Utama Shopping Centre (2nd Floor) and soon-to-be-opened third outlet in Sky Avenue, Genting Highlands.

Address: G23, IPC Shopping Centre, Jalan PJU 7/2, Mutiara Damansara, 47800 Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

2. Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart @ Empire Shopping Gallery

Here is another outlet that sells Japanese cheese tart and it’s located in Subang Jaya’s Empire Shopping Gallery. Simply known as Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart, the cheese tarts are baked fresh and best enjoyed when they are still piping hot. Enclosed with a crispy crust, the cheese filling is both creamy and buttery smooth. Best of all, Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart is considerably cheaper than Tokyo Secret (RM5.80 vs. RM7.90!).

For those who live in the KL area, cheese tart lovers can finally rejoice as Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart will be opening their second outlet at Berjaya Times Square on the lower ground floor.

They can be found around the Klang Valley areas such as Pavilion KL, Mid Valley Megamall and 1 Utama Shopping Centre. Not to mention Johor Bahru outlets in City Square, Aeon Permas Jaya and among others.

Available for RM6.00 per piece and RM33.00 for half a dozen, Lavender’s version of freshly-baked a.k.a. Hanjuku cheese tarts are blessed with thicker pastry on the outside. As you sink deeper, the cheese filling has a subtle combination of savoury and semi-sweet flavour.

If you don’t mind travelling there, you’ll be glad that their cheese tarts only cost RM3.50 per piece. Otherwise known as “half-baked cheese tarts”, their versions proved to be an overnight sensation. Mind you, their cheese tarts are only available either at 12.30pm or 6.00pm.

5. Pablo @ 1 Utama Shopping Centre

Okay, unlike the four aforementioned outlets that currently selling baked cheese tarts, Pablo is yet to open its doors. But the date is already set as Pablo will open their first Malaysia outlet in 1 Utama Shopping Centre in October this year. In case you are wondering what’s the big fuss about Pablo, their brand serves No. 1 freshly-baked cheese tart in Japan. Not only they serve classic Japanese cheese tarts, but also other varieties such as green tea cheese tart. Interestingly enough, Pablo offers their unique versions of cheese tarts unlike others since you are allowed to customise your baking method either “rare” or “medium”. Sounds like ordering a steak, except this one is a baked cheese tart.

Already made its successful international presences in South Korea and Taiwan, the upcoming Pablo outlet in Malaysia this October is expected to take the world cheese tarts by storm!

Address: 1 Utama Shopping Centre (Coming soon in October 2016).

So, there you have it! Whether you are a big fan of cheese, tart or the combination of both, these currently in-demand cheese tarts are too irresistible not to try them at all.
