Hamilton’s takeaway House of Shah launches new IRN-BRU curry after Buckfast Korma fame
The takeaway shop on Quarry Street is known for their outgoing recipes - and curry fans are loving the latest addition
A POPULAR Indian takeaway in Hamilton has added a Scottish twist to the menu - the 'Irn Bru Tikka.'
House of Shah - a British Takeaway Award Finalist - announced the new curry concoction earlier this week.
The company took to social media to share photos of the new dish, which you can order as a starter or kebab.
The takeaway shop on Quarry Street is known for their outgoing recipes, including their Buckfast korma, Irn Bru pakora, and ghost chilli pizza.
Shop owner Jahan Shah told The Scottish Sun how the company devise the unusual recipes.
He said: "The Irn Bru Tikkia came about partly from our success with Irn Bru pakora.
"Whilst making Tikka (and drinking Irn Bru!) a thought came to me as why not mix the two together.
"I was reluctant at first as tikka has yogurt marinated through it so I thought it wouldn't go well, however after trial and error it was actually delicious!"
And although he was worried about customers' reactions to the new dish, Jahan revealed the shop have now sold six hundred portions in less than a week..
"Initially with Irn Bru Tikka, the response was a hesitant one.
". Curiosity always does get the better nonetheless and now customers can't get enough. "
Now the Hamilton shop could be up for a Just Eat British Takeaway Award next month.
Jahan said: "Having received a good food award in 2018, we were recently a finalist for the fine dining award held in Glasgow last month.
"We are finalists for best takeaway Scotland again and will hopefully be crowned champions come November the 12th.
"The staff work tremendously hard and these new creations not only prove fun but also motivates us."
In a Facebook post the company thanked customers for their support.
