➳No matter what or where, I will always be drawn to anything by Katy Evans and this beauty is calling my name...

➳As a true fan of Katy's work, I will never back down to reading any of her novels! Especially when it's a steamy, office romance that will have you wanting more. This kind of romance is the type of romance that Katy is known for and deserves every form of appreciation because of it. Kit Walker and Alexandra will stand tall with power and determination as individuals. When they first meet, the instant attraction is present. Due to the fact that they both work together, there is a limit of what they can see of each other. However, once they are together both physically and emotionally, it is a dynamic duo that will make you crave more of their story.

➳There is drama, there is steam, passion, and all sorts of secret and alpha possessive scenes. But most of all, there is the whole perspective of fighting for the one you truly love. Kit Walker does that, and he does it in a way that will consume you with love and adoration towards him and Alexandra.

Alexandra Croft is a gorgeous, ambitious 24 yr. old woman who lives in Chicago and works for the city's top dating app company, Cupid's Arrow. As head of her department she's in charge of the design team, and prides herself on her hard work and dedication to her job. She likes to be in control, and usually has free reign as the CEO's prize employee. Then she learns the owner is retiring and leaving. He's stepping down and filling his position with his youngest son Kit Walker. Alexandra is determined not to let this party boy trust fund heir who's never held an actual job before boss her around. She resents the fact he's done nothing to earn this position, and will now be heading a multimilliondollar company. On top of that she's been asked to be his mentor, and work together as a team. His father is counting on her to make sure this transition goes smoothly.

Kit Walker is determined to prove to his father he's his own man. His dad has him on a short leash, and his inheritance hangs in the balance. He has a lot riding on his success at Cupid's Arrow, and he's ready to show everyone just who is in charge now.

Alexandra is prepared to suck it up and work together with her hot new British boss. What she isn't prepared for is their crazy chemistry. He's easily the best looking man she's ever seen, and their insane sexual tension rises every time they argue. He's known as the black sheep of the family with a notorious playboy reputation. She soon learns she may have misjudged him. He's arrogant, but also charming and charismatic. His playful side lures her in, and he makes her feel reckless and out of control with just one look. They try to fight their attraction, but when feelings develop they can't resist mixing business with pleasure. Alex was only supposed to guide Kit and keep an eye on him, but could she have found her perfect match?

-I find myself drawn to him like a magnet.

-There's something about him. I can't get him off my mind.

-The guy ties my stomach in knots. Gives me butterflies. I can't decide how to describe it, but I don't like feelings that I can't control. This is definitely one of them.

-This sexy man is playing my heart like a guitar, and all I want is for him to keep up this insane melody.

-As crazy as this is, it's starting to feel like it was meant to be.

Boss is the first book in this fantastic new Harlequin Desire series by Katy Evans. It was a sexy, fun, love in the workplace romance. I can't wait for the next book about Kit's older brother William!

Despite the fact that Katy Evans wrote MY Remy...I can't say that any book of hers after that was a stunner...

Either my expectations are way too high or I just can't find that groove in Ms Evans' books...I have to say this story was simply 'meh' for me...with unfortunately totally forgetable characters...*shrugs*

The premise for BOSS is the kind of book that promises a trope I enjoy. An office, heated dislike, slight forbidden element and chemistry. Alex was the boss under the owner of a dating app company but the owner decided to pass the reins on to his errant son, Kit.

Kit was arrogant, normally polished but inexperienced in business. I liked the idea of Alex mentoring him, even if he didn’t. Alex was a strong character initially but she had elements of flakiness. Alex was naturally attracted to Kit and things orbited from there. I struggled at times to really feel their connection emotionally. The sexual chemistry was there and the written scenes were good to read but I still felt a kind of disconnect for some reason. The forbidden element could have been emphasised more and some of the later drama left me unconvinced.

BOSS was a book I read in a day which is testament to holding my interest. It was a satisfying read but I did want more from it.

I voluntarily read an early copy of this book.

This book had everything I wanted. I grew up reading Harlequin books..they were always filled with stories of irresistible men and gorgeous female protagonist who's stories made this romantic heart swoon.
Having been a fan of Katy Evans's for years now, It was a no brainer that I was really excited to read BOSS.

Boss by Katy Evans so much fun! Super sexy, steamy and it has one of my favourite tropes, Office romance! Wohoo!

So If you are in a mood for a sexy office romance that is short but satisfies all your desires, BOSS is it.

⭐️ 4.5 "Miss Croft" Stars ⭐️
Katy Evans is always an author I look forward to read. She constantly achieves to create remarkable couples with intense chemistry. Boss isn’t an exception with its irresistible hero and feisty heroine that just are the perfect match. It’s a swoon worthy read for sure!

"This sexy man is playing my heart like a guitar, and all I want is for him to keep up this insane melody."

Alexandra Croft is driven and very focused on her career. When her boss retires and introduces his son Kit Walker as the new boss, there’s tension in the air. This sexy British man is supposed to learn the ropes under her expertise, but she soon makes assumptions about him. One thing is clear: the severe attraction between these two is off the charts.

Kit Walker comes up arrogant and playful at first, making Alex crazy and in denial of her pull to him. Their relationship progresses and he shows that he’s a truly charismatic, thoughtful man. I died over his sweet gestures and his charming personality. Alex is also a really lovely and engaging heroine. I loved every flirty banters and little teasing between them that had me hooked. The sexy moments are also full of passion!

"He can't have you, because you gave me everything you had... and I'm keeping you."

I would have loved the story to be longer, some parts being a little hurried, but it didn’t really lessen my love of the overall story. The butterfly inducing romance is what made this novel so wonderful for me. This office romance is a a short read, but not to be missed!

What is going on?

I have been slogging my way through a string of bad books written by some of the authors I love and count on for really good reads. This is one more to add to the list.

I am a fan of the 'boss' trope. But I didn't like this. I didn't like the H. I really didn't like the the h. She was a uptight, short-sighted, self-absorbed, self-righteous prig. And she was not nice. Strong women don't 'own the room' by behaving like a tyrant. The best potential for conflict was eliminated early when the H's father informed him what he had asked the h to do, thereby necessitating a contrived set-up. The whole thing was just ugh.

It don't like writing this kind of review. Then again, I didn't like this book. I will keep reading Katy Evans' books hoping she returns to the kind of writing I have enjoyed.

This is weird but while reading this when Kit was mentioned I always thought of Kit Harington, weird I know I don't even like that one.. Maybe because it's a rare name? At least it is for me.

Personally I didn't felt the connection they had otherwise I would've loved this one. Katy Evans can write captivating and exciting reads, but this one didn't meet my expectations.
It was good, but I wanted to feel more love?

The epilogue was quite nice, it made me swoon!

I was so happy when Katy Evans' announced she would be releasing a book for Harlequin Desire. I knew this book would be quick and steamy, and thankfully Katy didn't disappoint. She writes alpha heroes so well, and Kit Walker is full of alpha goodness. I couldn't get enough of his and Alexandra's story! If you like office romances with a strong heroine, I highly recommend you read Boss!

ADORABLE!
This was your typical little office romance, but I loved it. It wasn't anything new, or über-exciting-interesting. But I really adored Alex and Kit. It was sweet and sexy and funny. Adorable office romance with a sexy british boss! Cute!
Can't wait to read the story of Kit's brother BIG SHOT!

I’m not even sure where to start on this book. It’s the first one I’ve read by Katy Evans and definitely won’t be the last. I really enjoyed reading Boss and can’t wait to read William’s story. I really loved the characters, especially the connection between Alex and Kit. They were hot and juicy and I loved it. I did wish there was more of Ellie, in fact she’d be cute with William or maybe even have her own story. This book will have you swooning from beginning to end and leave you wanting so much more. Definitely recommend this for your 2019 read. You won’t be disappointed.

Let's start by talking about what I liked. First things first, Kit and Alex used condoms every time they had sex. Every. Single. Time. Yes, yes, yes. Review over, 5 stars we can all go home for the night and no one needs to listen to my safe book-sex rant.

Sadly things can't be that easy. As much as I appreciate proper safety precautions in romance novels, and I know I'm going to be in the minority here I really struggled with this review. I love Katy Evans, and eagerly devour everything she writes. She's been one of my favorite authors since I first read the Real Series. I never miss a chance to tell people she writes the best book boyfriends. Surely I'm not the only one who's still has a bit of a crush on Tahoe from Ladies Man.

I know I'm going to be in the minority here. But, this book fell flat for me. The writing was good and my dislike of the book had nothing to do with Kit, he was an amazing book boyfriend and I liked him a lot. But, I struggled with Alex. She was difficult to relate to and I found her character quite inconsistent throughout the book. She looks down upon her co-workers getting drunk then a few pages later we watch her not only get drunk but make a fool of herself in front of her co-workers.

The steamy bits, although smokin' hot, made me a bit uncomfortable. There was nothing unsafe about them and I can't quite put my finger on what bothered me. But especially in the beginning, they felt strange. Kit and Alex went from chaste kisses to Alex taking her clothes off and touching herself in front of him really quickly. Perhaps I'm a bit old fashioned but I thought that was a show saved for later in the relationship. Why bother getting dressed up and going on a date if you're just going to do the same thing you'd do at home by yourself?

Overall, the book was just alright for me. I didn't love it and while I wouldn't discourage anyone from reading it, I probably won't find myself recommending it either. That is a real shame because it's rare to find books that take safe sex seriously.

I love Katy Evans books , but I was so disappointed, the male lead is childish, the " strong female lead "is not so strong, she is .....annoying ? There is no spark , no chemistry , maybe I had such high hopes , it was a disappointing read

It's no mystery that in the last couple years or so, Katy Evans has become one of my favorite authors. I'm loving everything she brings to the table, however, when I first read the synopsis for Boss, I have to be honest and say, I was a tad bit skeptical. Office romances are a hit or miss with me, either I love them or I highly dislike them. There is no middle ground when it comes to this trope. To say I was scared to dive into this one would be a complete understatement. Well, the verdict is in and I'm so glad I requested this advanced copy of Boss by Katy Evans.

I loved everything about this sexy office romance!

I really enjoyed Kit Walker's swoony and sexy as sin vibes. I'm a sucker for the reformed playboy type heroes and Kit surely didn't disappoint. Although he wasn't as alpha as I would have liked, he definitely had that protective/possessive vibe down. Kit swept me away from the very beginning. He is such a dreamy man, or maybe the dreaminess has to do with his slight british accent!

Where Kit was swoony, Alex was feisty as hell! I loved not only her determination but also her stubbornness.

There are so many dynamics to this novel that I loved, from the humor, to the swoony sexy time scenes, and ending with the short-lived angst filled moments. But I have to say the chemistry between Alexandra and Kit was the main reason why this one was such a big hit for me. The slow burn portion of this novel really let us get to know Kit and Alexandra on different points. I loved watching their endless flirtations and actually seeing each character step out of the box they hid behind. And let's not forget to mention, the fire that ignited when these two entered the same room. It made for a much sweeter romance.

I do have to say, there was a moment in this novel that seriously pissed me off. That's the only reason why I dropped a star. I wish authors would stop making characters assume the worst and have this huge conflict... wouldn't it be so much simpler if the characters actually believed their partners?... I do love the drama though, but I'd like it a little less, especially when I'm vibing on the couple.

Overall, I really enjoyed Boss by Katy Evans. This is definitely an office romance I can proudly put up high on my bookshelf. After catching a glimpse of William (Alastair's oldest son) towards the end of Boss, I'm definitely intrigued to read more and continue on with this series! I can't wait for more.

Let me start off by saying that I’m a big fan of Katy Evans and I couldn’t wait to read this novel. So it pains me to have to write this review.

I honestly couldn’t stand Alexandra at all. Her character was too self righteous, uptight and judgmental. I get that she’s supposed to be a strong woman but she came across as rude and insulting at times with the way she treated her staff. Plus, I didn’t like the way she judged the other women for drooling over Kit. Pot meet kettle.

I did like Kit but I didn’t feel like I really got to know him as a person. Especially with his backstory I would have liked to read more about him and get a feel for him character wise. I felt like I was told about him and not able to see it for myself.

I also felt that their relationship moved way too fast and I didn’t feel the connection between the characters. One minute they didn’t like each other, the next minute it’s lust, then they are in love. Way to make my head spin.

I have enjoyed several books by Katy Evans and it pains me this one didn’t work out in my favor.

There's something to be said for reading a Harlequin title by an author that you already know you enjoy. And, it's even more fun when it is as good as you were expecting it to be. There's a reason Harlequin has been around a while, and there is a reason Katy Evans books are some of my favorites of all...and books like this are the specific examples for each of these.

Kit and Alexandra strike sparks off one another from the beginning. This is a category romance, so there is some predictability in the way the story unfolds. But, the fun of this one is the characters and the writing. Office romance is either one of the best tropes out there, or one that is difficult to make work. With Katy Evans writing it, this one was hot, it was fun, and it absolutely worked.

I enjoyed this title, and I recommend it.

I’m up to an author starting with E in my little A-Z romance challenge. This one by Katy Evans falls into the Mills and Boon Desire range which just means there’s smut/sex scenes. Sounded a good escape from crappy ol' 2020 to read a bit of smutty fluff but…

I actually think Evans needed a bit more direction and needed to settle on just one romance style. She sells #1 Boss as a clash between the heroine and her new boss, where their workplace issues are just a cover for the physical attraction they’re trying to hide from each other. Then, there are times she slips into attempting humour and an almost chicklit feel with the characters. It just ends up a bit of a mish-mash.

The clashes between the leads are probably my biggest issue. There just seems to be no point to them. The hero seems to just say ‘no’ to a couple of work ideas of the heroine's here and there and the heroine seems to just dislike the hero because… Well, there doesn’t seem to be a clear reason. If the heroine had been expecting to take over the firm when he (the owner of the company's son) stepped in, it might have made more sense but as it was… On a whole, Evans’s characterisation is all over the place. For example, one minute the hero’s daddy is ‘like a father’ to the heroine, next minute he’s threatening to fire her and yelling at her over…well, Evans attempts to make it a conflict but it’s all a big ‘what.ever’.

The company they work for kept making me giggle. They carry on like it’s the most important company in the world and that the heroine is best of the best in some high powered business world. You’re thinking lawyers, high finance, architecture? No, they are designing a dating app. And, okay, I guess apps are big business these days but really, all we see the heroine do is design the logo for the app, so it’s all a bit of a what.ever.

I did get to the end. Skimmed a little, I must admit. I think 1 out of 5 seems fitting for something with #1 in the title.

Katy Evans introduces us to Kit Walker in Boss!! It is her first Harlequin Desire release. You will be romanced and swoon as you read this feel good, romantic story. As Katy states it is a short and modern sexy romance. Boss is fast paced with a combination of insta-love/enemies-to-lovers laced throughout.

Alastair Walker – CEO of Cupid’s Arrow is retiring. He is leaving his son, Kit, to take control of Cupid’s Arrow. Kit is a laid-back playboy with a reputation, a fun “party boy.” He has spent the last few years traveling the world. It doesn’t hurt that Kit is super sexy and has a British accent.

Alexandra Croft (Alex) is the workaholic head of the design team at Cupid’s Arrow. Alastair asks Alex to mentor Kit and report back to him. Alex is very serious about work hence the “workaholic.” She is not one to let loose.

“I want you to guide him.”

Guide him.

Guide that hot, sexy, womanizing playboy who’s about to start playing boss?

Kit is sexy and fun. He loves to play and party. He has a serious side but not one that comes out very often. As the story progresses his serious side begins to grow.

Boss is fast paced, quirky, quick and steamy. There is some drama with a quick resolution. This is mainly due to the short length of the book. Writing for Harlequin Desire is a new venture for Katy and a bit different from her self-published books. I enjoyed Boss and look forward to the next Harlequin Desire “get away” romance from Katy featuring Kit’s brother William “Stone” Walker in Stone!

This one was an easy office romance read. Kit is everything Alex should avoid but can’t seem to help wanting. Plenty of office banter and chemistry meant things eventually boiled over.

It’s a sweeter read than I am used to from this author but I did enjoy it.

I'm a big fan of Katy Evans. Remy is one of my top 10 favorite heroes. As I alluded to earlier, I was afraid that the constraints of a category romance might affect her voice. Happily, this wasn't the case at all. The witty exchanges and strong sexual chemistry between the hero and heroine that Ms Evans does so well were here in abundance. The story started out very strong, but the characters were not always consistent and I think the shorter story length impacted her pacing. The initial conflict between Alexandra and Kit resolved itself rather quickly, so the drama that arose much later seemed rushed and forced. Yes, she had laid some groundwork, but it came so late that that aspect of the story just didn't work for me. In spite of these issues, I still enjoyed the book and am looking forward to his brother's story.

Yeah, so back to back bad reads. Is it me? I’m not sure, but some of my fav authors are really not tickling my fancy right not. This author wrote Manwhore, I read that, like, once a year.

The heroine was an over the top tyrant, the H came off as a beta (I’m a Alpha reader). So right away I knew I was in trouble. It’s a short book, so there’s that.

I haven’t read a Harlequin Romance in years. When I started reading romance, I would pick up either a Desire or Blaze from the bookstore.

If you have read a Katy Evans book, but of her leading men tend to be a little brooding, or like playing head games and her leading women tend to be more timid. Here you get Kit the soon to be CEO of his father's dating app company and Alexandra, the tough as nails HBIC of her design team.

Since this novella is not set to release until May, but if you’re looking for an quick, easy office romance, Boss doesn’t disappoint.

I love a steamy office romance from time to time. I love witty banter, strong tempers, hatred slowly becoming lust and respect and love... We find that in Boss. Kit is hot and caring. He's committed to proving himself to his father. He takes his new position seriously. Alex is admirably strong, independent and dedicated to her job for a young woman. She's a workaholic. She's also generous and loyal. I liked her relationship with her boss (Kit's father) and with her sister. This book has some qualities that i like but even if i didn't hate it i didn't really love it either. I understand where Alex comes from, her motives and goals, but sometimes she was just way too confident and too bossy for her age (yes she has to be a bit that way but... she's ONLY 22!). Kit is ok but we don't know him enough (that would have been a good idea to include his pov). Maybe it's because it's a short story but everything seems rushed between them. Their relationship lacks depth, sensitivity, chemistry, consistency. When they talk together they mainly talk about business. There are not enough scenes where they share something other than sex or business talk. I would have liked more personal talk, more outdoor scenes, more of them discovering each other (their passions, their hobbies, their pasts, their relatives...).
Plus, i really don't like the guy on the cover :-( . While reading i couldn't help but picture him as Kit and ... just... no... Please Harper and Collins change your covers for the Harlequins collection.
So... an ok read but if you're new to this author i suggest you Real or Manwhore.

Boss is a speedy read guaranteed to increase your heart rate. Who needs cardio when you have Katy Evans 😍

Ellie is a workaholic, dedicated to her career and helping her sister through college. Although Ellie lacks a real family connection apart from her sister, her parents were career centred to the detriment of forming a bond with their children. Although Ellie has come to terms with the lack of attachment where her parents are concerned, she doesn’t believe it has affected her ability to build her own relationships. That is until she meets Kit, only then does she feel the intense loneliness she has worked so hard to bury under work.

On the surface, it would easy to dismiss Ellie and Kit as having nothing in common, workaholic versus playboy. The electricity flowing between them is inescapable. Getting to know each other better opens up their similarities; their need to prove themselves in their endeavours and how they fill a void in each other’s lives.

Falling hard and fast is inevitable, unfortunately, finding their happily ever after isn’t as easy, especially with the negativity surrounding having a relationship with your boss.

Boss takes you on a journey full of highs and lows, passion and antagonism where careers are on the line and friendships are put to the test. In true Katy Evans style, Kit and Ellie will capture your heart and mind far beyond the pages of Boss.
