Harrisburg's Lotte Miller scored 26 points on 10-of-16 shooting form the field and 9-of-13 from beyond the arc as Harrisburg rolled to a 63-31 win over West Frankfort at the first night of the Harrisburg Invitational at Davenport Gymnasium.
Karsyn Davis also finished in double figures with 12 on 5-of-9 shooting, including a clip of 3-of-5 from 3-point range.
Jessica Hopson just missed out on double-digit scoring, netting nine points for Harrisburg, wile Matty Hawkins chipped in with seven. Brooke Meylor and Madeline Rider each had three points off the bench, while Lydia Miller had a field goal and Ivy Brown tossed in a free throw.
Harrisburg is now 2-0 on the season and will return to the Harrisburg Invite tonight (Wednesday) when they take on Carmi-White County at 7:30 p.m. In the earlier game that night, West Frankfort square off against Anna-Jonesboro at 6 p.m.
In the first game Monday night at Harrisburg, Eldorado fell to CWC 52-41.
Takiya Britton led the Eagles (0-2) with a team-high 23 points, while Rachel Stafford was next in line with seven points.
Paige Munds scored six points for EHS, while Madison Newton and Jade Hise both had two points. Derian Corn finished with a free throw for the Eagles, who were in action Tuesday against Anna-Jonesboro.
Eldorado will play West Frankfort on Friday night, starting at 6 p.m. and battle Harrisburg in the tournament finale Saturday night, starting at 7:30 p.m.
Chubb becomes Gallatin County All-Time Leading Scorer
Hailey Chubb cemented her legacy as Gallatin County's all-time leading scorer in both boys and girls' basketball, moving past Andrew Drone with a 36-point output as the Hawks knocked off Dongola 69-31 Monday night.
The win was also the first of the season for the Hawks, who went 0-4 last week in the Marion Tournament.
Audrey Jackson also finished in double figures for the Hawks, tacking on 15 points. Kensley Oldham and Emma Brockett both scored six points for Gallatin, while Gracie Sauls finished with four points and Amy Bourland had two points.
Drone finished his career at Gallatin County with 2,396 and went onto Rice University to continue his basketball career. He graduated last year.
Galatia falls to Lawrenceville at Hamilton County Tournament
Galatia's Kennedy Harris was the lone Bearcat to score in double figures in a 42-34 loss to Lawrenceville in the first game of the Hamilton County Tournament Monday night.
Shianne Barker added eight points for Galatia, finishing with four steals and seven rebounds. Kate Bond led the team in rebounds with eight and steals with five, while scoring five points.
Mallory Mays finished with four points, while Madison Murphy and Baley Crisp each tacked on three points.
"We did a really good job at reading the tough man-to-man defense and was able to get to the rim," Galatia head coach Denise Clayton said. "We had a hard time finishing there, however, missing 13 shots at the rim. This is something we will get better at. I was very happy with our man defense and I think we only get better at this as the season goes a long. We make teams work for every point they get. I thought Mallory (Mays) did a great job defensively, defending a very good player, both on the perimeter and in stopping the drive."
