Pilot Elijah Lawson always knew he’d return to Jessamine, marry a hometown girl and settle into very predictable life. After all, he made promises to his parents that once he’d gotten his fill of adventure that he would do exactly that… and Eli was a man of his word. Only he's never been able to get the bewitching redhead he’d fallen hard for two years earlier out of his head and he’s afraid that no woman in Jessamine will ever measure up.

Unfortunately, that doesn’t stop his family from trying to set him up with every single woman in town… until Skye Holland shows up on his doorstep.

The only reason Skye Holland moved back to North Carolina was so she could do the right thing for her one year old son. A boy, after all, needed his father, while she… she simply needed a fresh start. But first, she has to let Eli know that their red-hot affair had consequences. Consequences she has no intentions of repeating, no matter how many old feelings come rushing to the surface when they’re together.

Too bad for Skye that Elijah has other ideas and he’s not going to let this second chance at love get away again.

Overall, I’d give this book a 2.5 out of 5 stars. It was a nice, quick, easy read. Also, for the most part, I like the male lead, Elijah. He seemed to be the most thought out character. However, Skye, the female lead, was really not that interesting. The other issues I had with the book include the dialogue being very strained and contrived. And oh boy, the mansplaining!! The characters doing it to each other, and the author doing it to the reader. That got very annoying. Furthermore, there’s a whole chapter in the middle that is downright preachy, which is a major turn off. So, unless you can and are willing to overlook these issues, then I would not recommend this book to you.

It seems as if I've been waiting forever for Eli Lawson's story and I was thrilled when Love So Wild hit my kindle.

Second chance romances are one of my absolute favorites to read and I knew I'd be entranced by Eli and Skye's story from their first encounter. Add in a secret baby and I'm all in!

And while I did really like the romance that redeveloped between Eli and Skye, something was missing for me. Sure they had to rekindle the spark while working through the whole parenting aspect, but there was little to no fuss over the baby's reveal—more of a very quick acceptance and not even a bit of a concern. Their re-connection seemed a bit too easy—even with the few doubts that Skye had about reopening her heart. Eli was all in from the get go, even his family. But those Lawsons are a force to recon with, and open and loving and awesome.

And then there was the aspect of Skye and her sisters. I felt like I missed a big chunk of back-story . . . and I was. Love So Wild crosses over with the Holland Springs series, which I didn't know before I read this, and I think having read them ahead would have definitely enhanced my enjoyment of the story. This novella was extremely short and I think it would have benefited from the addition of some of the backstory and more fleshing out of Skye's relationship with her sisters.

Overall, I am really sorry to know that we've reached the end of this excellent The Lawson Brothers series, even if it ended more on a whimper than a bang for me. ~ Missy, 3.5 stars

The last single Lawson gets a second chance with the wild woman from his past in Love So Wild. Elijah and Skye have chemistry in spades, a tension between them that is felt by the reader. When Skye shows up out of the blue on Elijah's doorstep. A whirlwind romance from the past flashes through his head as he meets just who she brought along with her.

The two are perfect together. Elijah knows this, and has on heck of a time convincing Skye. She's strong-minded and has fears only she can fully understand, and get over. Her fears hold her back, but at the same time, make her the driven woman that she is.

As a long time fan of the authors work, I loved the glimpses at past characters. A new reader to Ms. Valentine's work might find themselves a bit confused at points, but I don't feel it would detract from overall enjoyment. The story was paced well, and the characters are well developed. I was left with a few questions in regards to an event in the story, but throughly enjoyed it.

Elijah and Skye had a brief fling almost 2 years ago and Eliah had all but given up on seeing her again. When Skye does return to town she brings a surprise with her. Their son Miles is just over one year old. Elijah doesn't know what to think and does a pretty commendable job of not losing his mind. Skye was pretty self-centered for parts of this book. She did want what was best for Miles but put up a lot of road blocks against Elijah being part of her future. Skye had a bad childhood, an absentee mother and non-existent father. She used that as part of her excuse for her bad behavior. Elijah concentrated too much on doing the right thing. He needed to tell her how he felt about her, not how he felt they needed to be married for their child. It was a quick read and went well with the rest of the series.

4.5 Star review of Love So Wild by Marquita Valentine

Why have I not read this author before? Love So Wild is a quick read which had me from the first page. Although part of a series, I was able to dive in and enjoy without getting lost which is not always possible.

Elijah Lawson always knew he would return to his home town, what he didn’t count on is that he would leave his heart behind with Skye Holland the woman who left him despite their chemistry being off the charts.

Fast forward and Elijah is shocked to find out that not only is Skye Holland in Jessamine, but that they in fact have a son together.

Skye is determined that Elijah should get to know his son but she doesn’t want to take up where they left off, however she doesn't count on Elijah’s determination to get his woman; he has no intentions of letting this second chance at love and happiness slip by him.

Can Elijah help Skye to get over her fears of commitment? Or will she shatter his heart again? One click to find out.

The writing was excellent and I was drawn in from the start. I will be looking to read more from Ms.Valentine as soon as I can.

Elijah was not holding back any punches. His dream landed on his door and he was going to try everything to speak her love language. He was not banking on Skye to shut down and run though. As it may be she was not prepared for the chase of the F-250 and the flight of her life.

This was a very nice second chance romance built up from a traumatic past Of not being good enough. Marquita delivered on a chase of a Lawson and them getting exactly what they want and desire.

Review by Trinette Dungee

Elijah Lawson has never been one to let any grass grow under his feet. As a pilot he’s traveled the world and never thought of settling in one place; until he spent a magical few months with Skylar Holland. Skylar snuffed out that desire to travel from place to place. She turned him into a one woman man and he would have been happy to that man had she not up and left him without a trace. For two years Elijah has thought about her and what happened. When Skylar turns up on his doorstep she does show up alone.

Skylar Holland wasn’t the marrying kind. Oh she wanted to be and Elijah Lawson would have been the perfect man. The time she spent with him was the best in her life but haunted by her childhood Skylar knows she’s not what Eli really needs. The decision she made to leave him was really for his own good. Two years later she’s stands in front of him because it’s no longer what best for her or Eli.

This was a quick read. Like many of Marquita’s series, all roads seem to lead to Holland Springs but it seems like this is the first book where and actual full series directly crosses paths with Holland Spring. As with the other Lawson men, Eli knows the woman he want and does everything he can to get her. What I liked about this book was the romantic side of the man. Eli’s heart is clear and his not ashamed to say or admit it.

What didn’t quite work for me was the speed of this book and some of the gaps. It seems one minute Skylar is at Eli’s door saying she doesn’t want or expect an actual relationship and the next, they are knee deep in each other.

There are quite a few references to characters from Love So Irresistible Book #3 in the Lawson Brothers Series and from the Holland Springs Series, which I felt like left a lot of questions. Since I read the other books I was able to fill in the blanks. So although it is said that this book can be read as a stand-alone, I would recommend reading those two series first.

Although the signature romance and sweetness that I like from Marquita’s books was there; this book just didn’t move me the way others have. While I liked it, it’s not in my top list of favorite Marquita Valentine’s books. However, it was a nice quick read for the snowy day I had.
I LOVE huge families and because it seems like quite a few series link back to Holland Springs, I think it’s time to list a family tree in the books. That would be so awesome!

"Love So Wild" is the eighth book in Marquita Valentine's Lawson Brother's series. I usually love all things Marquita Valentine. However I found "Love So Wild" to be a little slap-dash lacking the richness I'm used to in her books. The storyline is intriguing and the characters are likable it just felt rushed and superficial to me. Skye, the Heroine, experienced abandonment at the hands of her mother and in the past told the Hero her story. He is extremely understanding. However I don't feel like I was told Skye's story in enough detail to truly sympathize with her wavering feelings.
Elijah went back on forth on his motivation for wanting Skye to stay. Originally he's always been in love with her and despite her reticence he plans on marrying her. Then, briefly, his tune changes and he's not looking for anything serious; just to be a father to his son. But then it's back to where he's always planned on her being his wife. I'm not sure if it's the unproofed advanced copy of the book's to blame but Elijah's motivation didn't feel on-point.
There are other little things that are mentioned but not detailed. Such as Elijah making sure there aren't any available apartments for Skye to rent. It's alluded to but Ms. Valentine could have used Elijah's meddling more in the story. There's a big thing about "Love Languages" and it is talked about. But it could have been used more to see Elijah fumbling his way trying different tactics badly. Bad gifts, awkward compliments, and/or words of encouragement. This was my first Lawson Brothers series book. Despite the fact this isn't my favorite Marquita Valentine book I liked the characters I met. I'm curious enough to go back and read one of the earlier series installments.

Posted on What I'm Reading

Overall, I liked Love So Wild, but at the same time kind of conflicted. I mean most of my conflict comes from Skye. She's probably my least favorite Holland sister. I thought Summer held that place, but I was wrong. Oh so wrong. Oh my gosh; I wanted to smack Skye on the back of head. Okay, it was much worse. She drove me nuts with the fact she wanted Elijah to be a father to their son, keep his distance. Then you have Elijah who was willing to take them in and make them a family, because he still cared for Skye. The only reason I tolerated Skye towards the end was Rose talked some sense into her. Thank goodness for Rose. By the way she's my favorite Holland sister.

Basically, Skye comes to Jessamine to let Elijah know he's a father, and see if he wants to be part of Miles life. Being a Lawson he takes on his responsibilities. Honestly, this is a quick read, and a lot of things get resolve fairly quickly. It was an adorable read, but with some frustrating moments, but most of that comes from my issue with Skye. ADORE Elijah. Seriously, he's a perfect guy. Those who have come to love Marquita books will probably love this story too.

Easy to read, fast paced, second chance romance in a small town

Love So Wild is a second chance romance and the final book in this sweet small town romance series that I have thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish. In keeping with the author’s previous books, this is well written with an easy to read flow.

Told from dual perspective, Elijah and Skye find themselves having to readjust to their new roles as parents together but one thing is clear and that is the attraction and feelings between them are far from forgotten. I’ll be honest, Skye was a character who took me a little time to fully understand (possibly as I’ve not read the Holland Springs books) but I never disliked her and Elijah is one of those swoon-worthy sweet but sexy guys who is all in when it comes to the woman he loves. Their brief history helped with the fast paced setting of this story.

I enjoyed this and would definitely recommend it for a quick read, especially to fans of this series (although each book can be read as a standalone).

*I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.

A short and punchy read that delivered everything a super second chance romance should.
From the first to last page, I was totally sold on the story, the characters and the fact that they were so totally engaging was a delight but darn it, there were times when I felt almost jealous of their situation and their connection.
I loved that the author gave both Skye and Elijah the opportunity to tell the story form their own perspectives, I like to get that view from inside their own minds, it adds something to a story, a depth of emotion that some other methods sometimes miss.
Life as new parents is a tough call, and they were both having to adjust to the pressures that parenthood had applied on them but their situation didn’t mean that they had forgotten how they felt about each other, they connection was too strong for that to happen. I thought Skye was in many ways a bit of an acquired taste, some of her musings and antics rubbed me up the wrong way but Elijah adored her and that was all that mattered because this guy was a total dream, so if he fell for her hook line and sinker who was I to criticize!
Highly recommended – Elijah will sweep you off your feet, there is no better way to while away your time!

Second chance romance and a man with family values what more could you ask for, well in Love so Wild you get all of that and more. Elijah last saw Skye nearly two years ago so when she turns up on his doorstep with a baby she claims is his son he is surprised to say the least but he only needs to take one look at Miles to realise he really is his son and from that moment on he is determined to make them a family because he never really got over the love he had for Skye, timing wasn’t right first time around, maybe it right this time. Skye doesn’t want to be a family, she doesn’t believe in families and HEA but if that’s really the case why did she bring Miles to his father, Elijah decides he needs to chip away at the barrier she has put up and hope that he can win her around. A quick read but this book still has plenty going on, I loved the characters and I loved the storyline. Great read.

3.5 stars for Love So Wild

Love So Wild is a Lawson brother’s novella in this eight part series by Marquita Valentine. The story revolves around Elijah Lawson and Skye Holland. They first met two years ago and had a short love affair which ended when Skye left Elijah without an explanation. Which never gets resolved.
Two years later she shows up on his doorstep with a child. His child.
Skye professes to just wanting her son to get to know his father, but Eli wants more. He wants it all. Wants what he lost when Skye ran away before.
Skye has deep abandonment issues and instead of agreeing to give Eli a chance, she repeats her behaviour and runs again.
Eli refuses to give up this time as there’s more than just his and Skye’s relationship at stake now.
Will he be able to convince her that she can be the wife and mother she deserves to be? Not the one her own mother was?
Will their Love be Wild enough?

I love Marquita Valentina and this book bring two of my favorite families of hers together. Elijah Lawson and Skye Holland meet when he sees her putting a display up in a store window. He's always had a soft spot for red heads. Skye also feels a connection and says yes when he asks her out. When she finds out that he's also from North Carolina and from a neighboring town they begin a wild and crazy relationship. Elijah thinks he has found the one until he wakes up one morning to a Dear John letter. Two years later, back home in Jessamine, Elijah is surprised when Skye knocks on his door with a surprise in tow. Can Elijah forgive her for the secret she kept? Can Skye get over her fear of the "Holland" curse and pursue a future family with Elijah? Will they both give love a try?

This is another story by Ms. Valentine filled with great characters. I did feel like this story was a little short and not as developed as I would have liked, but it was still a wonderful story.

Fantastic second chance romance!!!

Elijah knows how important it is to his family that he settles down after all his years of adventuring. Unfortunately, the only woman he's ever felt he could do that with left him two years ago and he hasn't been able to forget her. So when Skye shows up on his doorstep, with his son no less, he's determined to convince her to marry him. But Skye Holland has other ideas. All she wants is to give her baby and his daddy a chance to be in each other's lives. Marriage isn't for her. After all, she's a Holland and everyone knows that Holland women just don't do the commitment thing!

But Elijah is a Lawson, and Lawson's don't give up until they get their girl! And Skye is the girl of his dreams! All he has to do is convince a Holland woman that there is such a thing as happily ever after! No problem for a Lawson man!!!

Elijah and Skye's story is one that I was definitely looking forward to by Marquita Valentine. I have been a long time fan of hers, but this book was the first that I wasn't able to give 5 solid stars to. The ONLY reason for this was because I felt that the book jumped around quite a bit, and wasn't as detailed as I felt it could have been.

I loved these characters, and I loved how devoted and loving that Elijah was. I just had a little bit of trouble understanding their entire back story and relationship. It wasn't until I was part way through the book that I was able to tell that they had been involved for a few months, and not just a hot, steamy night together. Dialogue between some of the characters also jumped a bit.

Regardless of this though, I did love finally reading their quick story to their HEA. I love Marquita Valentine's work and will continue to be a fan of hers!

I loved this story! Love So Wild is the eighth book in Marquita Valentine's The Lawson Brothers series. Elijah Lawson has always intended on going back home to Jessamine to settle down once he had the adventure bug out of his system and that is just what he has done. Coming home was the easy part, but now his family wanted him to settle down and he is all for that, but he can't settle down with just anyone not when his heart only wanted Skye Holland.
When things got a little too real for Skye she ran out on Elijah two years ago, but she took with her the cutest little reminder that they really did happen and now she needed to go make things right for father and son.

I was given an ARC from the author/publisher. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.

It’s breaking my heart to know this series has come to its end but what a way to end it.
This was just the perfect way to round up my favorite series by far. Everyone that knows me and my reading habits know how much I love Marquita and her Lawson men.

Elijah and Skye were really good match even though it took a lot of work from Elijah’s part to convince Skye that they belong together. The strong dynamic of Lawson family is so evident in this book with how they accepted and loved the new edition to the family. Since this is the end to an amazing series I feel I got cheated out and this book should be longer or preferable never end as I want to keep reading about this men and their women.

I must say that I tried really hard to make Elijah my No.1 Lawson man but Tristan is still my favorite (on offense :P) .

LOVED IT <3

As a fan of Marquita Valentine's work, I was excited to see Elijah Lawson's story finally arrive. I love, love, loved the crossover connection to her Holland Springs series, since it was the first series I read of Marquita's.

Elijah is the last single Lawson brother and his family is determined to set him up with the girls in his home town, but he is still hooked on someone from his past. When Skye Holland shows up out of the blue, there is no way Elijah is going to let her slip through his fingers again. Even if he has to do things her way, Elijah know she is the one.

This is a sweet story that kept me burning through the pages to find out what happens next. I love the world's Marquita creates and I never want to leave them.

I first have to say that I haven't read any other books in this series, but I absolutely love second chance romance so I couldn't wait to get my hands on this. I could follow the story and the different characters throughout.

What I did have a hard time with is the characters, especially Skye. I just felt a disconnect between Elijah and Skye throughout the book and had a hard time understanding why they liked each other. I also felt the story was a tad rushed for me with some missed opportunities. I did like Elijah more and his family throughout the story and how excepting they were of Skye and their son Miles.

Just right for a second chance romance! Elijah Lawson finally gets his story and he hooks up with a Holland sister. Skye is the one who got away but now she is back and she brings with her their son. An instant family! We get a glimpse at the rest of the family as they all step in to try rally around. Lots of twists and turns and cold feet to get to the happy ending we all expect.

Second chance after a whirlwind romance, resulting in a baby. It felt really quick and I never really got to know them as a couple. Skye has mother abandonment issues, so we learn about her extensively. However, I never felt a vibe between Skye and Eli. I'm a big fan of Valentine and her style but this one fell flat. I received an advanced copy, so understandably there will be errors but this was overflowing with editorial issues, and it took the spark from the book.

This was a great short read that will leave you wanting more. This was my first time reading a book by Marquita Valentine and I was very impressed and will read her again. Reading a storyline about a single mother and a man wanting to woo her and be patient about taking their time and with her because of this, makes me a little jealous, that I have not found this in my own life. I really enjoyed this book. Although I wish it would have been longer I wasn’t ready for it to end.

Short story that I read in one hour. I liked this story. Elijah was one stand up guy and he never gave up on Skye even when she gave him the run around.
Skye was damaged because of her mother and she wants to do what is best for her son, but wants no relationship with Elijah. I just wish this was a little longer it seemed like something was missing, but overall it was a good second chance romance.

Lawson Love

Elijah fell in love with Skye the moment he meet her even if he was not 100% sure that’s what it was. Skye was not quite as sure and a bit scared so she ran. 2 years later she is back with a bit of a surprise and Elijah could not be happier.
Watching Skye figure it out while Elijah just showered her with love was just so wonderful. Makes you wonder if men like the Lawson’s really do exist.

Another great read and a fitting conclusion to the series.

This is a quick read about Skye and Elijah. They spent some time together in Colorado and then Skye left. Two years later, she shows up on his doorstep with a surprise. Will they reconnect or will they just be friends? Grab your copy and find out. I’ve enjoyed reading this series, but what I didn’t like was the changing of Dinah’s name to Delilah. It seems like some of the author’s beta or arc readers would have caught that. I rounded up to 4 stars, but actually rating is 3.5 stars.

Elijah knows how to pull out all the stops, “I’d like to take you out on a date. I’ve already arranged childcare for Miles and I already have reservations at every restaurant in town. And if you’re feeling a little wild, I have a plane on standby, too.” I really liked this book, I loved Elijah the man was so patient.
