Off the Ice

Rate this book
He’s always made the scoring plays, both on and off the ice, but this time he has a new goal … the one for Meghan’s heart.

I’m Justin Davis, all-star center for the Charlotte Strikers. For years, I chased the spotlight, not only with hockey, but through television as well. That’s why I decided to play the bachelor on Rich and Single. Unfortunately, I was stuck with a fake fiancée from hell who I couldn’t stand to be around. Now that our contract is up, I’m allowed to do whatever I want, with whoever I want. I plan to take full advantage of my newfound freedom.

After being on the show, people don’t recognize me for hockey anymore, even with just winning the Stanley Cup for my team. That’s why I’m spending the off season in a remote cabin in Wyoming where the chances of people knowing me are slim. Space is what I need, but when a down to earth beauty needs help on her ranch, I can’t resist. Meghan Taylor is exactly what I’ve been looking for, even though I’m not the kind of man she wants.

Getting her to see the real me has its challenges, but the more time I spend with her, the easier it is for her to see that I’m not the same guy she knows from TV. Being away from the media is one thing, but as soon as I’m back in the spotlight, I’m afraid it’ll change what we have. I don’t want to lose her, but I also can’t hide away in Wyoming forever. It’s a choice I’m not ready to make.

Off the Ice is the latest Breakaway novel from L.P Dover and brings us to Justin Davis as he tries to run from the fame he doesn't want. Instead of being known as a great hockey player, all anyone wants to do is talk about his playboy bachelor ways and he needs an escape from it. Planning on spending some time alone in a remote part of Wyoming the last thing he expected was to meet single mother Meghan Taylor who he just can't seem to stay away from. Even though the two of them together could lead to disaster once the tabloids find out.

It was a little refreshing to take this series off of the ice and onto farm land. It's a hockey series, no doubt about that, but it was nice to see more than a hockey player in Justin and instead see how sweet and caring he could be with Meghan. I loved the slow burn chemistry they had and that they couldn't fight it for long. I thought they made a really cute couple despite their differences and they just worked very well together. Meghan was caught up in trying to be the best mother possible to her daughter so it was nice to see Justin there to help her live her life as more than just a mother, which is hard sometimes.

Overall, this was a great story to go with this series and one I thoroughly enjoyed. I'm sad to see these hockey stars end but the series is one I definitely recommend and one I will be re-reading. This book could be read as a standalone, just as all the previous ones can, but I think the past characters will have you intrigued enough to go back and read their stories.

What do you do when you just finished playing out the craziest reality tv romance gone bad...Why you take off to your ranch to chill out and just be normal. Well, as normal as a Stanley Cup winner can be. Justin Davis wants to get back his normal life and being around those out West should do the trick.

Meghan Taylor just happens to be his neighbor. She has the ranch next to his but hasn't handled it well for many years. It is in need of some drastic help and Justin happens to be the one who wants to assist...Meghan and her daughter have lost the only man important in their lives, Meghan's husband and her daughter's father. It may have been eight years ago but the vacuum is still there.

Justin steps in and Meghan is just what he wants...a normal woman who appreciates him for who he is without all of the fanfare. But fame and commitments come calling and the question is whether these two can weather the publicity storm.

This was a perfect addition to the series.

I had fallen behind in this series but it didn’t matter because I was easily able to read Off The Ice without any worries. I am a huge hockey fan so I must say I am a bit disappointed that there wasn’t more hockey in the book but overall I liked it. There of course was some drama and maybe a little too much but this was a sexy and at times angsty read. Meghan and Justin were likable characters, ones that you would want to get to know, especially the normal Justin, not the one people thought him to be. My heart hurt for Meghan at times, the position she was in, knowing that she also needed to protect her daughter as well as her heart made me really like her.

Overall, Off The Ice was an enjoyable read and one I think most will enjoy.

Super sweet as I loved the characters. Justin was surprisingly ready so soon after a fake reality show relationship breaks up. I loved Wyoming and the Carolinas so the travel was cool.

I am both a Breakaway series and an LP Dover virgin, however she had me at "hockey".

I wasn't sure how I was going to go, coming in late to a series, however I should not have worried as with exception of some of the other's relationships, I could read this as a stand alone.

You know what I really liked about this one? It wasn't about the game as much as about the man. Justin was just all kinds of swoonworthy from the minute I met him, an I just needed him to find a good woman.

And that is what he finds - quite by accident too.

Meghan is just what Justin needs, and I couldn't help but cheer for them to make it. I loved that there wasn't any real OTT drama, that they didn't do the not talking thing, believing others thing. Sure, they have their problems, but they - gasp - sort them out like adults!

There is a little scene stealer that wormed their way into my heart too, I can't wait for you to meet them/it/I don't want to give it away!

Off The Ice was just... cute and sweet and tender. I am a huge fan of hockey book, however this was just different, and I liked it.

I am always late to the party, so trust me to come in just as the series is ending lol. However Justin and Meghan's story has gotten me interested in the rest of the series, so I will be going back and reading the earlier books.

You can see this and other Reviews I have written along with various cover reveals, excerpts, and giveaways here Nadine's Obsessed with Books

L.P. Dover does it again with Off the Ice, she grabbed me with the very first page and held me until the very last and knowing this was the last book in the series I was truly sad that it ended. I would love to see a Novella come out at some point to catch us up with all four couples but I guess only time will tell if she plans on doing that...maybe as a holiday surprise *hint* *hint*

Anyway back to the book, I have enjoyed Justin throughout the series and I was really curious as to how he would get his HEA because we all knew there was no way he was going to be staying with his fiancée, Miranda, that he was forced to become engaged to on the television show he was a part of for a while. Miranda was one crazy a$$ woman and I don't blame him for wanting to be as far away from her as possible.

This story takes place during the off season and is mostly set in Wyoming where Justin goes to get away from everything once the season has ended and he breaks off his engagement to Miranda. This is also where Justin meets his neighbor Meghan, a widowed mother of an eight year old daughter, Ellie. Meghan and Justin had great chemistry but even more than that they developed a great friendship, I personally found this appealing. It was more than just hooking up for both of them and you could tell that from the very beginning. They did have obstacles and some of them were very exciting to watch but overall this was a sweet and steamy romance with a HEA.

While this book can be read as a standalone, it is the last book in the series so I would recommend reading all of the books in order that way you have all the couples back stories since they all make appearances, that way you will enjoy this story even more. Happy Reading!!!

‘Off the Ice’ is the 4th book of the Breakaway series. I’ve been looking forward to Justin’s story since finishing the last book in the series, Playmaker and it is bittersweet for me that this is the last book of the series. I was really hoping to get more books :(

Justin Davis plays hockey for Charlotte Strikers. His retirement plan is to become an actor. In line with his plan, he agrees to take his teammate and brothers-in-law, Dallas’s place on popular reality TV show, Rich and Single. What he didn’t see coming is ending up with a fake fiancée for a year. Once the year is up, which was the day Charlotte Strikers won the Stanley Cup, Justin dumbs the fiancée from hell, Miranda, on live TV. Sorry NOT sorry. Yeah, I know this might sound like a do*chebag move but she certainly deserved it. After dropping the bomb, Justin decides it is best to stay off the radar for a while and decides to spend his summer in a remote ranch in Wyoming, he recently purchased.

Meghan Taylor is a teacher, who is a widow and has a 8-year old daughter named Ellie. She is beautiful, funny and down to earth. Meghan leaves Ellie with her parents so that she can fix her ranch during summer break. What she didn’t expect was bumping to  the America’s sexiest bachelor, Justin Davis, the moment she arrives to Wyoming. When she realizes that Justin wants to stay anonymous, she acts like she didn’t recognize him. Justin is not the kind of man; Megan wants to get involved with. The entire media circus going around Justin is something Meghan doesn’t want to drag Ellie into. However, the attraction between them is instant so they decide why not have a summer fling. They start spending a lot of time together since their ranches are next to each other and Justin is helping Meghan to fix her ranch. Meghan realizes that Justin is not the guy, she assumed. He might be famous, sexy, rich athlete but down to core he is just a regular guy, who adores his family and friends. Justin and Meghan are both amazing characters and I loved the banter between them. However, my favorite character in the book is Ellie. She is just ADORABLE. Their road to HEA will not be easy but I was happy to see them overcome all the difficulties.

Off the Ice by L.P. Dover is sweet, sexy, heartwarming, and so much more. You can easily read it in one siting. I’m sad to see this series end but excited to read new books from L.P. Dover. I already have two books from her that I will be reading ‘Going for the Hole’ and ‘Love, Again’. If you like hockey and romance, I would highly recommend the Breakaway series. All the books can be read as standalone but if I were you, I would read them all :)

Would I recommend this book: Yes.
Would I re-read this book: Yes.
Would I read future books by this author: Yes.
P.S. I was looking forward to read Braeden and Sophia's story and I didn't expected Braeden retiring and going back to med school. I am heartbroken :(

P.S.S. Also what about Cliff???? I want to know what happens with him. Can't he at least get a novella???

14 DAYS? I needed fourteen days to finish this book? What the …?

This has got to be the record because I usually finish it in less than a week. Unless it’s boring – then I stopped reading it and just don’t finish it at all.

Okay, to the beginning.

As you may know, I am one of those people that love a good cover. Yes, I usually judge the book by its cover but it means a lot to me if it catches my eye somehow because of the font, setting of the title/author’s name etc. I do like the male model (definitely eye-catching) but even though I never put much thought in how much it resembles my idea of the hero, I think he looks kind of young. I don’t remember the author mentioning how old Justin is, but I imagined him in the late twenties and the cover model looks like late teens/early twenties at least.

Now to the story…

I think it was interesting. I love how much Justin cared about Meghan and that he wanted to offer her the world. But I think the whole book didn’t have the kind of plot I would want, no major conflict. I missed that because at around two-thirds of the book I was wondering what the book could offer anymore.

I think that may be the reason why I just couldn’t read it daily or why I wasn’t interested enough. I was more excited about the ending than the middle part.

Or it may be the reason that I have so much going on but what’s funny is that I started and finished another book while reading this one.

I guess it just wasn’t my cup of tea.

3,5 – 4 mediocre stars.

I’ve been looking forward to this book since finishing the last book in the series, it’s a fantastic end to a great Hockey series! Justin Davis agreed to take his brothers-in-law’s place on a dating show and wound up being contractually tied to a horrid “fiancé” for a year. On the final day of said year, Justin bounces out pretty publicly and his fake fiancé doesn’t handle being embarrassed well. In the meantime, Justin heads to a secluded ranch he’s recently purchased in Wyoming where he immediately runs into Meghan. Meghan Taylor is a Teacher, a Mother and owns a small ranch. She’s taken her daughter to spend the summer with her grand-parents while Meghan is fixing of her ranch and she gets the surprise of a lifetime when she runs into one of her favorite professional Hockey players, Justin Davis. The attraction is instant but Meghan is fully aware of the craziness that is surrounding Justin’s life and isn’t willing to let her daughter be dragged into that – so they set out to have a summer fling…

This book humorous, intriguing and I adored both of the main characters, their banter back and forth made this such a quick read. I love that though the books in this series are intertwined they’re also able to be read as a stand-alone easily. I’m sad to see this series end but excited to see what LP Dover releases next!

Throughout the past books we have watched Justin and his stint in the Hollywood reality spotlight. First with the show and then the year that he had to spend with the fiancée that he chose. We also know just how big a mistake that whole thing was. Now, the year is over and Justin has dropped the fiancée like a hot potato and left N.C. to sort of hide in Wyoming where no one would expect him to be. With his life being picked apart by the media, he just wants to be in a quiet place and figure out his next step in his life... other than hockey that is. When he gets to know the neighbor, Meghan, he wants to pursue something more than friendship, but he knows its not fair to drag Meghan into the mess that has become his life. Will Meghan be willing to take a chance on Maddox, or will she pass?

This was such a good story. I really enjoyed the journey of Justin and the growth of his character throughout the series. Meghan's story was actually a bit sad, and there were a few moments that I teared up. I completely understood her fear with pursuing a relationship with Justin. Love that we get to see the previous couples and sort of catch up. I give this 4 stars.

Rcvd an ARC at no cost to author..(netgalley) This the Justin's book in the series of Hottie Hockey Players this is the 4th book in the series. We have met Justin as being Callie's brother who is now married to Dallas. Justin took over Dallas's place for the single Bachelor series and he ended up with the nightmare that was Miranda. Per his contract he had to be engaged to her for a year and he was so relieve when he was able to dump her which he did publicly and now she is out for revenge. Justin goes to his ranch to just get away but ends up meeting single mom Meghan. Meghan lost the love of her life overseas but now she is a single mom only wanting the best for her daughter. But while her daughter is away with grandparents she meet Justin and they have a love affair, until it all comes crashing down in the hurricane that is Miranda. Does she want to live in the public eye? She has a daughter to think about, but can she just let Justin go, someone she fell in love with? Well grab a copy and Enjoy!

Easy, stress free hockey romance, to be honest though, there is no hockey action, just pure sweet romance. Justin Davis needs to get away during the offseason, somewhere far far away, hopefully somewhere he won’t be recognised. His wicked ex, Miranda, is spreading lies, and she’s got it in for him. She’s also not too happy about the way he publicly dumped her (yes she did deserve it). Meghan Taylor, a widower of 8 years, and a single mother is home alone for the summer while she fixes and updates her rustic farm. Guess who her new neighbour is? Yep, none other than our hockey heartthrob, Justin. Naturally, friendship (followed by more) ensues, but Meghan is adamant that this is only for the summer, and they’ve got to keep it a secret, she doesn’t want this to affect her 8 year old daughter. Yeah right, like that was ever gonna happen. It’s fun reading all their antics though. Wonderful characters, and a star in the making with the adorable Ellie. I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is my honest review.

My goodness, L.P. Dover has done it again. In the final book in the Breakaway Series we finally get our look into the life of Justin Davis. He is one of the hot and talented members of the Charlotte Strikers Hockey Team. Justin decides to spend the summer off season away from everyone on a ranch. Meghan is a ranch owner who is looking to spend her summer fixing up her property. She is not looking for new friends and definitely not a new man. L.P. Dover is an author that is able to get her readers into the minds of her characters without making is seem forced or off-putting. As a reader, I was able to know how the characters felt and thought without two pages of useless words. Dover is a real wizard with words and with that comes great responsibility to bring truly epic stories to life and she has done that masterfully. I would highly recommend not only Off the Ice, but the other Breakaway Novels.

Going on a tv dating show sounds fun but when he gets trapped into a fake engagement to Miranda his life was a living nightmare. Now the year is up and he's free but Miranda won't go quietly then he meets Meghan and he just wants a chance with her.

I enjoyed this story it has the sweet in Meghan and her daughter and the drama in the truly horrible Miranda. The story was well written and easy to follow.

It is with much relief that this story truly takes place, for the most part, off the ice. Although I keep coming back to this series, I’ve made no secret of the fact this author’s lack of hockey knowledge drives me bananas. Now, if the same holds true for you, I will warn you that the first chapter will make you want to pull your hair out. But after that, the hockey world is more or less left behind so the sailing’s a bit smoother.

Justin and Meghan meet in a very innocent way that makes Justin really relax and be himself with her. I love that, from the get-go, neither wanted to lie even while withholding the whole truth. And in both cases, it was more or less to protect the other one. They get hot and steamy eventually, but still there’s this level of sweetness to their whole relationship. Justin is just amazing. Sure, he can be hot-headed…but only when it comes to protecting those he loves and his reputation. He doesn’t back down from a fight when it’s the right thing to do.

This book did much better than the last one, mostly because I didn’t have to deal with the hockey issues. But there were still some real problems with editing and timeline. Again, I read an ARC so the editing may be a bit better in the final product. But I got the ARC less than 2 weeks before publication so I’m doubtful. There is a lot of awkward word usage and sentence structure that really throws off the flow of the story. And honestly, it was a good story that I read quickly. It would have been a million times better without these issues.

I’d also like to beg this author to stay away from writing LGBTQ characters unless they’ll be run by someone in the know. While it doesn’t come across as the author being homophobic or anything of that nature, the particular character seems to be a caricature of a gay man. I’m glad the character isn’t shown much because it would have made the book quite cringe-worthy if he was.

It still confuses me to no end that this author can have such great ideas for stories and write such amazing chemistry in her couples but cannot get basic facts and grammar correct. And keep a timeline!!! You need to know your time zones and time differences, or else things start to not make sense! It seems, from her dedication at the beginning, this will be the last Breakaway book. I have to say I’m a bit relieved since I wasn’t able to quit this series…all while it drove me nuts. I just wish I would have seen more growth in the author’s research as the series progressed, so I could continue reading her work. Unfortunately, that didn’t really happen. I’m sure her books make many people very happy. I’m just a nit-picky reader and notice even slight problems so it’s too difficult for me to relax with her stories.

Having read some other books in this series, I had gotten to know Justin a bit so I was glad to get my hands on an early copy of his story. Not only is he the star center forward of the Charlotte Strikers hockey team, he’s also the celebrity bachelor from the popular reality TV show, Rich and Single. His story begins with Justin's team winning the Stanley Cup and the clock finally running out one his one year contract engagement to the bachelorette he was forced to choose during the show's final episode. The past year of Justin being “engaged" to the lying, manipulative, fame-seeking Miranda has felt like a noose around his neck, but it shouldn’t be surprising that Justin breaking up with her on national television causes a wave of very public backlash from Miranda. Since the hockey season has ended, Justin avoids the publicity by escaping to his ranch in Wyoming, where he meets his neighbor, Meghan.

Justin may be rich and famous, but at his core he’s just a regular guy with a big heart who loves his family and friends. When a woman bumps into him at the airport and then offers him a ride to his ranch, she treats him like a regular guy. The idea of her not knowing about his fame really appeals to Justin, not to mention the fact that she’s smart, funny and beautiful. Meghan lives a simple life. Since her husband died on active duty, leaving her with an infant daughter, her focus has been on making a good life for herself and Ellie for the past eight years. She’s ready to move on romantically, but she just hasn’t met the right man. Until Justin.

This book was such great fun to read! I easily fell in love with both of these characters, and the adorable Ellie, and was completely on board in seeing them get their happily ever after. They certainly had their challenges – living on opposite sides of the country, Justin's paparazzi lifestyle and Meghan's need for anonymity, and let’s not forget the evil Miranda. But there was such great chemistry that went far deeper than just the physical, and I knew there had to be a way for them to work things out. I enjoyed every step of their journey and was taken in by these endearing, authentic characters as their relationship developed. And having a child in the equation made for some special, poignant moments between Justin and Ellie. This book didn’t feel quite as polished as others from this author, but it wasn’t significant enough to detract from the story or interrupt its flow. This book has a wonderful balance of all the compelling elements of an excellent sports romance and I whole- heartedly recommend it.

L.P. Dover is one of my most read authors, and there’s a reason for that: She always delivers beautiful, multifaceted contemporary romances with hilarious banter and amazing chemistry – and sports romances, be it hockey or MMA, are her specialty. It was a given that I would try to get my hands on this story as soon as possible! Word of advice though, I definitely recommend to read the other books in the series first, because whereas each book focuses on a different couple, you still might feel like you are missing small details here and there, as Justin – and his *wonderful* fiancée – made an appearance in previous stories too.

Justin – swoon-worthy hockey all-star – is finally getting rid of his nightmarish prize fiancée and looking to disappear during off season. He buys a place in the country – and runs into a woman who doesn’t appear to know who he is and fittingly lives in the neighborhood. An unexpected and easy friendship builds – far from the circus that comes with his fame.

Meghan – widow and mother in need of a helping hand to fix her home – never expects to find exactly that in the form of the sexy and charming hockey player that is Justin. And she not only finds that, but also a comfortable friendship which slowly evolves into something more, something deeper…

I didn’t really mind that this storyline didn’t mainly focus on the hockey aspect of the setting, because it’s easy to get lost in the banter and relationship between Justin and Meghan far from the public eye. However, I had my problems, once Justin started throwing his money left and right, even though he was told not to. It’s the reason I mostly do a wide berth around anything billionaire-y, because it’s not all about being rich and spoiling your girl to death… Hence, the four star rating.

Now I am looking forward to hockey season starting and reading about the team being on the ice again. :)

I received an advance copy of this book for an honest review.

Justin Davis is a star hockey player, who just won the Stanley Cup with his team. He was also on a reality “Bachelor” type show, and ended up with a very horrible woman named Miranda. They were contractually obligated to be together for one year, so the day that contract was up, Justin dumped Miranda – on national television. He decides he needs a break from his life, so he decides to buy a ranch in Wyoming and spend the off season there.

Meghan is a single mom who is a school teacher and runs a ranch in Wyoming. Her daughter, Ellie, is spending the summer with Meghan’s family in North Carolina. When she returns home from NC, she literally runs directly into Justin at the airport – an then proceeds to act like she doesn’t know who he is. She even offers him a ride home.

Justin likes the fact that Meghan doesn’t know who he is. Meghan feels bad about deceiving Justin (it doesn’t last long). They begin a friendship that quickly develops into more.

It kind of drives me crazy when hockey players are made out to be like Brad Pitt with the press they get. I’m a HUGE hockey fan, and it’s just not reality. Many authors do it, and it’s not a slam on the author, just the genre in general. Stop making it seem more than it is!

That being said,I loved both Justin and Meghan. Justin, despite being a bit of a player, is a really great guy. He was very sweet and loving to Meghan, and to her daughter, once he met her. Meghan was a great mom – she always put her daughter first, and was very worried about dating a celebrity.

I didn’t love the drama with Miranda – it was kind of over the top. I did love the fact that Justin was friends with Lucas Montgomery (from “Going for the Hole”) and that he was mentioned in the book.

This book didn’t have a lot of drama, which I enjoyed, and the characters were so well written. I appreciated that.

This book was great, and I would highly recommend it.

L.P.Dover is a new author to me and I have absolutely no idea why that is, particularly since I adore hockey stories. I had no trouble reading Off The Ice as a stand alone. Now that I have found her I will be sure to go back and read other books as and when time permits.
Justin Davis is a player for the Charlotte Strikers. After stepping in and replacing his brother in law on the television show Rich and Single, he is finally free of the nightmare commitment he had to his fake fiance.
After scoring the winning goal which led to a Stanley Cup win, Justin is off to a remote cabin in Wyoming for some rest and relaxation. That is until his neighbour Meghan Taylor needs help on her ranch and he offers his assistance.
Meghan and her daughter have struggled for 8 years since the death of her husband and the ranch is badly in need of repairs. When Justin offers his assistance the attraction is there but can he get Meghan to see the man who lies beneath the surface?
Will Meghan take a chance of finding happiness or will the pressures of the outside world and Justin's career prove to be too much?
Justin is totally swoon worthy and I fell for his hard and fast, there is so much more to him that meets the eye. I admire Meghan’s strength and determination to carry on the ranch. These two are meant to be together and I really cheered for them to get their happily ever after.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the publisher through Netgalley.

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is the fourth book in the series, and it could be read as a standalone, but would be a richer experience if read in order. We have met Justin and his horrific fiancée in previous storylines.

Justin combined his star hockey qualities with a reality show and ended up stuck with a prize fiancée he did not want. Now that the year stipulated in the contract is up, he can end the farce and disappear during the off season. He even has a place bought and ready for him in the country. Deed done, he flees.

He is given a lift by Meghan who pretends to not know who he is, as he is clearly uncomfortable, and she knows why! They strike up a friendship as they live in neighbouring ranches. Justin is keen to help her, and spend time with her, which gives them a chance to get to know each other without the media circus that normally follows him around. This I really enjoyed. However once he starts spending his money or promising meet-ups with other famous people to gain favour, I found it a little sad, and when he continued even when told not to, it started to veer towards uncomfortable. I probably am in the minority here, but it just seemed unnecessary. But overall I found their romance to be genuine and fun.

I look forward to seeing the new family back in the hockey season and catching up with the rest of the team.

Off the Ice follows Justin Davis and Meghan Taylor.

Justin Davis is an all-star center for the Charlotte Strikers and the star of a reality TV show along the lines of the Bachelor. What was supposed to be his chance at finding love ended in finding a hot disaster and her father. Miranda has made Justin's life miserable for the year that they have been under contract. Now that the contract is over, Justin is ready to trade the crazy for some peace and quiet on his new ranch.

Meghan Taylor is a widow and a single mom. Her husband died while serving in the military. He never knew his daughter but Meghan has spent the last 8 years keeping his memory alive for her. In doing this, she has not made any attempt at moving on or finding happiness for herself. She has just gotten back home after leaving her daughter with her parents and sister at the beach house. She's ready to spend the summer working around her own ranch. She never expected to run straight into the famous Justin Davis in the airport.

What starts as an agreement to help around her ranch and fix up her old truck becomes so much more when undeniable chemistry is factored in. Meghan's fear is Justin's reality. Can she find the love she deserves while keeping her daughter safe and their privacy slightly intact?

This was an awesome book. LP Dover is an automatic one click for me and I'd highly recommend this book and series to anyone.

This isn't my first LP Dover book so I was excited to read another. I really enjoyed Justin and Meghan's story, the two of them are just so sweet and soppy that you can't help but fall in love with them, as fast as they fell for each other. I had a big dopey grin on my face a lot of the time and even had wet eyes at one point... a happy wet face, I'm too emotional for my own sanity sometimes!

Justin is sweet from beginning to end, he would win me over in a heartbeat. His lovely heart and his words just melted me. These two have a few obstacles to get over, I found myself really invested in their relationship and was eagerly reading to find out the outcome. Having the characters from previous books in this series was an added bonus; you really don't feel left out of the loop if you haven't read any of the series. You end up loving all of Justin's friends and family as well as Meghan's.

This book is well written and made my heart happy, the only thing I felt a bit rushed and I was missing that strong connection I like to have with the characters. However, saying that I definitely would recommend reading this story.

Finally, we get to see the real Justin. He has been in all the previous books in the series. Somewhat cocky and free spirited but underneath a good protector of his family. An excellent hockey player that "volunteered" for a reality show that turned his life into a living h*ll. The stress becomes too much for him. After a very public break from his fake fiance, he heads to Wyoming to cool his jets. He happens to bump into his neighbor at the airport and the rest was history.

Love a good friends to lovers story. Love it more when the former playboy realizes he needs something more from life. Throw in a widowed single parent and the story becomes the perfect read.

A little bit of angst in this one. I found myself wanting to hit Meghan up side the head a time or two. But really great chemistry with Justin and Meghan. Super sweet moments with her daughter. Loved see what a good man Justin was without all the celebrity.

Sad to say goodbye to this team. Can't wait for more from this author.

Off the Ice is Justin and Meghan's story.
A chance meeting at an airport, an instant attraction/ curiosity and a friendship starts that begins to lead to something so much better.
Meghan had thought she found true love but it was taken away when she lost her husband Trey to war. Their 8 year old daughter and beautiful memories are what she has left. It has been difficult to move on she just can't find that spark....till now.
Justin is a professional hockey player and fresh off a terrible stint on a match making reality show that was a disaster. His ex Miranda has done everything in her power to throw his name through the trash. What he really needs is a break to unplug. The ranch is quiet he can regroup, get in touch with nature and recharge. Although what he doesn't expect is to find Meghan and realize that you may not know what you need till it is rig in front of you .
Such a great story!

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

The way that Justin ended the relationship with his fake fiancee' wasn't the smartest thing to do but you can understand his frustration with having to play a role in a drama he really regretted. What he didn't expect was his crazy pretend fiancee to start a smear campaign against him. When he meets Meghan and she doesn't recognize him, he's glad and intrigued.

Meghan knows who the stranger is she bumped into at the airport is, but she pretends that doesn't. She knows all about Justin Davis and the media circus that surrounds him. She thinks that he's cute and all but she's not sure if he has substance more than drama.

Meghan soon realizes that the media is more speculation than reality and Justin is just a regular guy who doesn't mind helping her with chores around her farm. She's able to talk to him about her deceased husband and what she wants for her daughter.

Justin realizes that Meghan is becoming more important to him that a lot of things and he if needs to be traded to another NHL team to make this work, he's willing to do it.

I totally enjoyed this book and this series. I can't wait to read more from L.P. Dover.

I was given an advanced readers copy of this book and have decided to leave a voluntary honest review. I loved Justin from the very start to the end. Mind you I didn't like his reasoning for staying with miranda, but then again we all make mistakes and learn from them. And Justin has definitely learned his lesson. I adored Meghan from the very start as well, she's just a breath a fresh air that Justin needed to be around to see what his life could be like. Behind the spot light. I loved off the ice just perfect.

Omg I absolutely love this series and Justin will make you swoon. Justin & Meghan have such an instant connection right from the start. I truly enjoyed every minute of Meghan & Justin together and Ellie was so sweet. I also loved seeing what Maddox, Lacey, Dallas and Callie were up too. Really amazing series with amazing characters and can’t wait to read more in this series.

This series just keeps getting better and better! I have been looking forward to Justin's story since we met him and I was not disappointed! I mean who couldn't love a sexy hockey player/reality star turned cowboy. YUM!
Off the Ice is my new favorite in this series. It is low angst and fun to read. I love that Justin and Meghan were able to work out their differences without alot of drama. I couldn't get enough of this one and can't wait to see what Dover brings us next!

This book was definitely better than the last one I read in the series (book 2), but it still didn't knock it out of the park for me. It was just okay... a cute, romantic story that didn't focus too much on hockey (which I'm glad b/c I know nothing about hockey LOL)

My issue was that the author spent so much time developing the first part of the story that the end felt very rushed and sort of unfinished.

I also struggled with the intense, immediate, connection between Justin and Meghan. It was like the author pushed them into the relationship rather than letting it develop naturally.

Justin is not bashful, and he's so playful, “oh yeah?” He lowered his boxers, and my insides clenched with anticipation. Circling the table, he grabbed me around the waist, and I wrapped my legs around him. “Now that I’m naked, what do you want?” I liked this book, I fell in love with Justin.
