ABC News’ “Nightline” averaged 1.408 million Total Viewers, 509,000 Adults 25-54 and 395,000 Adults 18-49, during the week of November 20, 2017, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. 

“Nightline” turned in week to week gains (1.350 million, 475,000 and 373,000, respectively, for w/o 11/13/17) in all key target measures: Total Viewers (+4%), Adults 25-54 (+7%) and Adults 18-49 (+6%).

“Nightline” improved on the year-ago week in Adults 18-49 (+3% - 395,000 vs. 385,000 on w/o 11/21/16).

“Nightline” narrowed its year-to-year margins with NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” in both Adults 25-54 (-14% - 165,000 vs. 191,000) and Adults 18-49 (-35% - 149,000 vs. 230,000). 

Season to date, “Nightline” is beating CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden” in Total Viewers (+44,000 – 1.473 million vs. 1.429 million), Adults 25-54 (+27,000 – 542,000 vs. 515,000) and Adults 18-49 (+18,000 – 406,000 vs. 388,000).

Stories on “Nightline” last week included the first television interview with Caitlan Coleman Boyle, an American hostage mom freed after five years in captivity; a look back at Charles Manson, the notorious murderer and cult leader who died in prison at 83; an in-depth look at the Liberal Gun Club whose members support both the left and gun rights; an interview with The Washington Post reporter who broke the story of multiple women alleging sexual misconduct by Charlie Rose and secrets from filmmakers Jon Favreau and Peter Billingsley about the making of “Elf.”

NOTE: “Nightline’s” and CBS’s “The Late Late Show’s” weekly averages are based on three days (Mon- Wed), while NBC’s “Late Night’s” weekly averages are based on four days (Mon – Thurs). With Thanksgiving week, telecasts of “Nightline” and “The Late Late Show” on Thursday and Friday and “Late Night” on Friday were coded as specials and are excluded from the weekly averages.
