Genesis is the Accalia. The first female wolf in existence, her destiny is mapped out as some special savior to her fellow wolves.

But she wasn't raised a wolf.

Her mother's dying wish was for her best friend to take baby Genesis and hide her. Now, eighteen years later, the little wolf is reconnected with her pack.

But there is a rogue wolf of the lose who wants her dead.

Locked away at Rosewood Estate, Genesis spends her days learning the wolf history, training for combat and doing her best to ignore Liam, the beta wolf who has stole her heart.

Eventually Genesis comes face to face with both her predator and her relationship with Liam. Will she be able to defeat these both or will it all become too much for her?

This book started strong. It reminded me of a blend between Twilight and The Originals, but then, as it continued, I became less enthralled. I think I wasn't keen to the bickering between Liam and Genesis. If you ask me, I think Liam is too good for Genesis. She's constantly throwing fits and being jealous over a past kiss Liam shared with someone else before he ever even met Genesis. Of course, she is only 18 so it's probably typical of a teenage girl to act immature in her first relationship. There are two more books that follow, so hopefully we will start to see some developmental growth for Genesis.

Wow, I am truly blown away by this book! The Accalia is a fabulous debut novel by H. L. Girton. The characterizations are brilliant and the twists and turns had me flipping through the pages at breakneck speed. I fell in love with the vivid narrative that made me feel like I was truly part of the story. Bravo!

Genesis and Liam are now my favorite couple and I can't wait to dive into the second book since this one had a cliffie to end all cliffies. I highly recommend The Accalia to all fantasy lovers of all ages.

Five brilliant stars!

I got this book free in exchange for an honest review.

This incredible debut novel captured my attention from the first line 'The scream pierced the silence in the midst of the night.' There are few authors who are able to write a book that hooks you from beginning to end with out loosing you somewhere in the middle at least once but Girton is one those authors who knows exactly what to put, where, and how to create the perfect set of characters to keep the readers interest, Mine included. This one of those novels that really hard for me to stick with my no spoilers review pact, all I have to say is that the is exactly how first books in series should be.

I wasn't sure when I saw the cover how good the book really was, I do that as much as I try not to the cover well it's not the best cover out there but I think everything could be pixely and I would still recommend this novel because this is one of those hidden gems you don't come across that often. H. L. Girton is a new author that you should put on your watchlist for upcoming books.

This is a story of omissions rather than lies. Genesis has been loved and protected her whole life by her Aunt Cammie. Cammie has filled her with stories of a father and mother that loved her dearly but were dead. Until her senior year in high school, Genesis was home schooled and they moved around the country frequently. Finally, Aunt Cammie settled in Oregon and enrolled her in high school. Madeline became her best friend and confidante but Genesis remained an introvert. That was about to change. Who would have thought that a graduation party could lead to so many questions and awakenings. Genesis life is about to change in ways no one would have ever imagined. And, along with Genesis, Madeline's life changes drastically.
I love these characters and found it hard to put the book down at times. You don't have to be a young adult to enjoy this book. This is mystery/love story/supernatural adventure rolled into one story. I must read book 2 and the novellas now.

The Accalia by H.L. Girton
Reviewed by Angi

I was going to sleep on this before I reviewed because this book left me with so much....well feelings.

I didn't really know what I was expecting when I started this book, but whatever it was it was not what I got.
The characters are so well written that you feel thier every emotion. Your invested in the outcome. You love when Genesis loves you cry when Genesis cries. Well the sky quite literally cries when she cries.

The story starts out so happy and free. Genesis is a typical teen on her last day of High School. She lives with her Aunt Cammie who raised her since birth. There's a grad party........ and that's where the story really takes off.

Thats where Genesis finds out what she is. She is a were and has to learn by being attacked by other weres. But where this strays from your typical shifter story is she shouldn't exsist. Females with the were gene die at birth making her THE Accalia. A thing of legends.

She finds she's been hidden her whole life and meets her father who happens to be the US Alpha. She must learn to be part of the pack. She must learn what happens when you disobey the Alpha. She is strong and brave and tender and just. She loves with full abandon. This love is both a blessing and a curse.

During this great lesson in love and life there's a mystery of the wolf that first attacked her. Where is he and why did he? Why does he keep going after her?

This all leads to a heart racing/wrenching climax. And then oh the anger that it's over. And I mean anger I yelled in frustration at the ending, and the frustration of knowing I have to wait for the next installment.

And then I felt better knowing there will be another one. Because damn it I need to know what happens next!!!!!

This book had me enthralled from page one. Read straight thru in one sitting could not put it down. Truth betold it pulled my attention from a good binge watch of Supernatural. That there has to tell ya how good it was!

The only conflict I have with the story is the prologue that states its " ten years ago" Then we jump to present and the baby from the proloque is now in her last day of HS. So if that could be explained that would be great.. thanks :)

All in all wow what a story. Add this to you TBR list and enjoy!

The Accalia by H.L. Girton is a majestically beast of a book. This is one of those books where you just immediately fall in love with the characters but their story as well. I was hooked from the beginning, and I didn’t look back. The author has a way of drawing you into the story, and making you feel like you are a part of it.

I love finding new to me authors who make you fall in love with their art. This paranormal story is definitely a book you will stay up all night reading. The plot line was beautifully crafted, the character development was amazing. You definitely fall in love with the characters as the story progresses. I was not prepared for the emotional rollercoaster, but I would do it all over again for this story.

I will definitely recommend this story to others. I give it 5/5 Platypires.

HL Girton’s “The Accalia" provides an intense look into the life, social structure and mythology of a werewolf pack while introducing the Wolfen prophesy of a female wolf born into the clan. I won’t go into specifics and ruin the suspense but the author has crafted a unique new twist on the werewolf genre and created a real page turner here. I was especially pleased to discover that the heroine isn’t some fawning damsel in distress. She is a truly heroic figure but a believable one too. She makes mistakes, misjudges friends and questions her own resolve while trying to carve out her own niche in her strange new world. It is just this character development that keeps the reader involved and the pages turning. A great read that I highly recommend!

Refreshing YA Novel

You follow a girl who grew up thinking she was just another human and making plans to live out her life as such, only to have everything change after graduation. A chance encounter at a graduation party changed everything she knew about herself and the world she lives in. Add in a budding relationship, discovering what a family really is, a funny best friend, and a villain to capture, you have recipe for a start to a great series. The only downside I found in this book was the childish behavior of the main character. She is 18, but some of her actions and thoughts bordered on that of a 14 year old. It was a slight disappointment. This is still worth a read, I am confident you will enjoy it as much as I have.

This is a tale of grit, determination and adventure set in a world full of mythical creatures and strong characters. The heroine grows before the reader's eyes as she becomes the image of her legendary promise and fulfills her role with grace and strength. As an Oregonian, the setting of the story was charming to me and made me feel right at home in the action. A cliff hanger makes the reader desire to know more and sorry that the story has ended.

H.L. Girton writes with such passion that the story of "The Accalia" became real in the moment. The first edition to series, gives readers a taste of the Young Adult Fantasy, leaving readers wanting more. With the lead female character becoming shapeshifter/water nymph, learning more about her destiny and gaining her gifts, alongside a pack of wolves that is now her family, gives a variation to the many alpha male wolf stories available. If you enjoy reading about strong females fighting for their believes and embracing their destiny one step at a time, with hot male wolves standing beside them, then this is a MUST read!

"The Accalia" stands out as a 5 star read for many reasons including:
*The scene is set by a very powerful and passionate prologue. At first it seems as if it is a mother giving birth, before the birthing problems arise. This sets the stage for so many questions, and opens the plot settings to want to know the full story rather than just the many unanswered questions that come from the prologue including - what does it mean to hide her until she is ready?
*Attention to detail is given to all the characters throughout the story, allowing to make them seem more familiar and describing their part in the unraveling destiny of "The Accalia", Genesis. Each character is depicted in their best forms including features, personality traits, what they love, and most importantly to the story, who they are to Genesis and what part they play in her safety and new life. This is from the mother of Genesis, to Genesis's Aunt, to her school friends, her wolf pack, her father, even the villains. Such attention to all characters is rare, and gives this story a lot more depth.
*The three main female characters that form the focus of the story are depicted as strong, intelligent, independent "warriors". Each knowing who they are, their strengths and weaknesses, how they protect each other, and work together to stay safe. First is Genesis, "The Accalia", a very strong willed young adult who cherishes her love for her Aunt and best friend. She takes on everything that comes her way, sometimes erratically, but always tries her best. The second is Aunt Cammy who is described as a truly beautiful woman, spiritually and physically. She would do anything to protect Genesis as her new destiny unravels. And then, the best friend Madeline, described with such detail that she feels familiar, down to her curly bouncy blonde hair, to her fierce love for Genesis, and her willingness to take on her new destiny too.
*As per the portrayal of characters, the settings are also given a lot of attention to detail. For example, the cafe that Aunt Cammy runs with Genesis. The cafe, including its name, down to it's location, what was baked, how they made the upstairs apartment their home, all made the settings feel real.
*The plot begins by following many real life scenarios that young adults face, including forming best friends and maintaining the relationship, graduating from high school, worrying about the future and career paths, going to parties to celebrate with friends, changing appearances, and so much more. That is before the real story kicks in and the fantasy begins, and where other real life and fantasy scenarios are portrayed (no spoilers!)
*The plot, after the scene is set, and readers have learned more about the main characters, picks up quickly, full of adventure, evil and mayhem. The night she leaves the party and gets lost in the woods is the day Genesis's destiny starts to unravel, with wolves fighting her, some trying to harm her, others to protect. Nothing remains the same, although it takes Genesis a while to come to terms with the vast change, and the three strong warriors are forced to flee everything they love to go somewhere safe and learn the truths. Many unexpected changes to the plot keep the thrilling. Answers to the many questions helps solve the many mysteries, while more challenges come to be faced.
*Love is explored in the story in many forms, starting with her mother and father, described as the love everyone always wanted...a once in a lifetime soul love. Genesis also learns of new young love to a fellow wolf from her pack Liam. He is her fiercest protector and would do anything for her. They might even grow to share the love that her parents have....that is if Genesis can open up her heart fully to understand her new way of life (no spoilers!)
*An unexpected twist in events leaves the ending wide open. This leaves readers impatiently wanting to know more about the next part of the story for "The Accalia", her true love, and her destiny to the world.

As can be seen, this book is a 5-star read with powerful characters and a challenging plot. I recommend this story to all young adult fantasy readers who enjoy books about love, destiny, wolves, mystery, unexpected changes and loss. I can't wait to read what the second installment by H.L. Girton ,"The Curse", brings and hope to find out the answers to the ending of "The Accalia".

I reviewed this book voluntarily after receiving this book in advance.

Just going to say it now, when  I started this story I did not know it was a werewolf related story. And I loved that, that aspect was not thrown at you. We get a little taste right in the beginning, but it is one of those things I didn't pay much mind to. I was to caught up with Cammie getting away.  To protect her best friends daughter.

The story skips ahead eight-teen years, we find ourselves picking up with the daughter Cammie's best friend. Genesis, who just finished high school, thinking she has her whole life ahead of her. Oh boy was she wrong. The night of her last day of school she goes to a graduation party with her best friend, while there she goes for a walk with the host and classmate Chuck. Now I'm not going to lie, but when they went on this walk I was thinking that Chuck was a creep and up to something. Glade to say he wasn't, and a little sad for him in same aspect that Genesis turned him down.

After turning Chuck down, Genesis takes off into the woods she looses her sense of direction causing her to become loss in the woods. While try to get her bearings and find her way back to the party, she is attacked by wolves. But luck is kind of on her side when a third wolf comes to her rescue. With everything that is going on she so scared for her life that she transformers into a wolf. Then everything goes black for her. When She wakes up she encounter man, that she doesn't know and right off the back she has a weird attraction to him, but pushing that aside all she can think about is getting back to her aunt. Once she gets away from the man who saved her and makes her way back to her aunt. All hell literally breaks loose.  Someone close to her is shot and with that Genesis is thrown into world she never knew was more than just a myth and finding a family she never knew she had.

Now was I real enjoyed about this story was it was not a typical werewolf romance story. You know the ones that I'm talking about, where the girl spots a handsome guy who happens to  catch her scent on a gust of wind, and goes crazy trying to convince her to love him, give it a chapter or two and their all over each other. No the romance in this story does play major part, but to me takes a backseat to Genesis figuring out her new role in this world. So much so that she push her feeling and love to the back burner, until she has proven her self as a wolf and also receives her fathers blessing. I found that very endearing to her character growth. The biggest plot of the story is finding the rouge wolf who not only killed some dear to her heart but has be tormenting her since. It was interesting watching her work out the the difference between vengeance and justice. And this is something that people can learn from, not letting emotions cloud what wrong and right.

I gave this story three stars on goodreads.com because it ended with a cliff hanger. I would have loved it if the story just for quick second switch to a characters point of view so we could know what they were thing at the end of book one before ending. But besides that I truly enjoyed this part of Genesis story and can not wait to see what happens next.

I have my grabby hands ready for book two! I was intrigued by the synopsis of this book and this author was new to me. I love a good paranormal shifter book and this didn't disappoint me one bit.

Genesis was a normal girl. Well as normal as a girl can be seemingly on the run from what she doesn't know. Her aunt moves them place to place under the guise of wanderlust. She has finally made a best friend in Madeline and life seems on track. Genesis has always been a homebody while her best friend is more of a social butterfly. She convinces Genesis that a graduation party would be safe but boy is she ever wrong. On that faithful night her life is uprooted and she meets the enigmatic but slightly scary Liam.

Liam notices Genesis and is immediately intrigued. He wants to know this seemingly gentle beautiful woman but his life is anything but normal. He watches her from afar, which I know sounds creepy, but he can't quite understand why he is drawn to her. He is the Beta of a well known pack and his life is mapped out but fate intervenes and he saves Genesis life.

I can't wait to continue with this series! Even the background characters needed to be noticed and heard. I will admit at times I disliked Genesis for how whiny she could be and how she flies off the handle at a moments notice without thinking first. She's 18 so can we really expect her to act right? Liam just seemed to know what he wanted even at 22. There was a few minor typos mainly words missing but all in all excellent book!! I can't wait to dive into book two and see where Genesis and Liam and the pack take us.

I decided to pick up this book when a couple of my fellow blog team members raved about it for almost days on end. I heard so many good things about it, how amazing and incredible it was, and how I just had to read it to see for myself. Full disclosure: I was a little worried that it wouldn't live up to the hype. I was dead wrong!

From the very first page, I was transported to a completely different world. I forgot about my adult responsibilities, my laundry went unfinished and I didn't even eat dinner (I did make it for my kids though, I just didn't eat myself). I devoured this book in one day because I just couldn't put it down. I swear there has never been another book that has made me feel so many emotions all at once. I laughed, I cried, I screamed, I even wanted to punch my kindle in it's bright shiny face at several points during this insane roller coaster of emotions.

I loved that it was fast paced and jumped right into things. It didn't slow down and it kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time I reading. It was well described and very easy to read, not to mention the story line was completely epic and original. I felt everything the characters were feeling, I cried with them, I screamed with them and I even share a hatred for some of the other characters with them. It's hard not to feel so passionate about this story when I personally felt so involved in it. It was like I was right there, experiencing everything they were feeling.

NOTE: There is a cliff-hanger! A massive, OMG, what just happened, kind of cliff hanger (which was one of the times I found myself wanting to punch my kindle). You WILL be hooked by this story! For however long it takes you to read it, your life will cease to exist! The world as you know it will change as you embark on this crazy, emotional, but absolutely epic adventure!

A must read for lovers of all things shifters and paranormal! Hands down the best book I have read in 2017.

5 MASSIVE stars!

I loved this story! It had me involved from the first line. The beginning has the reader thrown into the action right away. It is the story of Genesis who was raised by her Aunt Cammie. She just graduates high school and is ready for a fun summer but it turns out to be a summer she won't forget and one that will change her life forever. I really don't want to give too much detail because the story is worth the journey. But let's just say that Genesis is not just a normal teenage girl. She has a destiny to fulfill. And along this journey she takes her best friend Madeline who is also special as it turns out. This is an awesome action packed story full of heartbreak, humor, romance and inspiration. I found myself getting so involved. Especially when Genesis thinks too much and makes things more difficult. My favorite character was the man that she falls in love with and seems destined to be with, Liam. He is her protector from the start. But warning! This story has a cliffhanger and as the reader I am so excited for more. The second book The Curse is out soon and I can't wait! I highly recommend this book to paranormal fans, romance fans, action fans and anyone who likes a great coming of age, find out who you are story.

Great start to what should be a wonderful series. My only complaint is the cliffhanger ending and a few editing errors. Otherwise, this would easily have been a 5 star review.

Those who enjoy paranormal, shape-shifter, new adult stories will LOVE this novel! The dramatic prologue sets the stage as a midwife manages to escape from a foreboding mansion with the baby whose mother has just died in childbirth.

Eighteen years later the reader is re-introduced to Cammie, the midwife, and Genesis, the baby who has now just graduated from high school. The first chapter also introduces Madeline. There a strong connection between Genesis and her best friend, Madeline, that hints of something more than teenagers who simply get along well.

When Genesis, attends a graduation party on the beach and ends up getting lost, things really start to get interesting. We learn that Genesis is unique. She didn’t know it, but she’s a werewolf. Not only that, she’s the one and only female werewolf in existence, and her life is in danger.

This novel is fast-paced, full of twists and turns, and will take you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions.

The Accalia by HL Girton for me is a 5 star read.
Genesis was raised by her aunt, travelling around from place to place not staying too long. For the last year she’s attended high school and made the kind of friend who is more sister than just a friend, but on the final night of high school she attends a party and from there her life completely changes, she’s attack by wolves and wakes up a few days later in a cabin in the woods with a stranger. Genesis runs as she’s not sure if the danger that the stranger tells her is out there is real. But Genesis’s aunt knows more than she’s told her up until now and slowly she finds out that’s she’s something called “The Accalia”
I really loved this book although if I’m honest I’m still trying to figure out what being The Accalia really means, so I’m hoping the next book will help me figure it out. This author is actually new to me and I will definitely being looking out for anything else she has written.
I voluntarily reviewed a gifted copy of this book.

What a great first book release! I was captured by the story and characters right from the beginning. The story between Genesis and Liam is captivating. Genesis struggles to come to terms with the importance she holds as the Accalia but with the support of her best friend Madeline and her fathers guidance she embraces what the future will hold. After a terrible heartbreak she seeks revenge but finds herself being torn between her responsibilities and loyalty.
This is the first book in The Accalia Series and also H. L. Girton's debut release. I was instantly captured by this book and was unable to put it down. H. L. Girton is an author to put on your watchlist for upcoming books. A big congratulations to H. L. Girton for a job well done and giving me the opportunity to start reading this amazing story before it's official release.

5 gloriously bad A$$ stars

Genesis' journey into this world was terrifying. On the run from some unknown danger Aunt Cammie takes minutes old Genesis away from their family to hide away.
Genesis is home schooled until her senior year when Cammie decides it's time to attend public school. This is where Genesis meets Madeline, her sister from another mister. From day one they were inseparable and throughout the story we find out why.
This is a new author to me yet I feel like I've known her my whole life just by reading book 1. She built me up and took my heart on a roller coaster ride only to leave me scared and alone at the end begging to join a HL Girton support group. Stay tuned for my review on The Curse book 2. Hopefully my heart is pieced back together again, but I doubt it.

Okay, lets see. Where to start? I guess with the book in general is a good start.
I really liked the book- the story it told and I'll just get this out from the beginning, that prologue... That Prologue! I just loved it. It seriously pulled me in right away and even before I had finished it I already wanted a prequel of Naida and Jerimiah. I got so little time with them but I seriously want to know more about them.
There was times I felt the story was moving too fast and I wondered if I had missed something but for the most part I followed along just fine and enjoyed it.
Now, the characters: my favorites were -obviously lol- Naida and Jerimiah along with Chuck. I actually thought Chuck was going to turn into a creepo at the end but was so glad he didn't because even though I was dreading it and expecting it I couldn't help but kind of like him in the beginning and I was trying so hard not to like him because of it. So, glad he turned out be a great guy because I really do like him.
I didn't hate anyone 🤔 I actually felt kinda bad for the rogue wolf and besides being hostile towards Genesis Davina was an okay person. More like I'd like to know more about her before I decided on her... Okay, not really it has to do more with the last scene she was in. I want to see what develops from that.
I honestly have not made up my mind about the rest of the characters especially Genesis and Liam- although I admit I kinda like Liam now. Figures. He had to go through something like that for me to pay more attention to him.
So, yeah. Basically, I really enjoyed the book and can't wait to read the sequel (Russia?? Maybe?)! ... and any prequels that may be written... 😏

Let me tell you, I am so ready to move onto the next book. This book takes you on an emotional roller coaster ride with saying goodbyes and hellos you absolutely hate and some you won't expect. Take the hormones of a teenager and add that to being a werewolf, and the main character comes to life, jumping off the pages, as a real person. There were a few mistakes, but I didn't care. This is a great read for those who love romance, YA, and paranormal.

This is definitely a good example of paranormal shape-shifter drama. The drama and action is strong within Genesis’ world.

The first person narrative seemed a bit oppressive at times, and there were moments when the telling overcame the showing, but it still allowed a great glimpse into the protagonists world-view and emotions.

I really enjoyed Liam’s character, and I must wonder if I’ll see him in the next book.

This is an interested taking on the werewolf/regular girl finds out she's special kind of story. Genesis is the first and only female werewolf and supposed to be a savior for werewolves everywhere. There is tension and emotions as she struggles to find her place in the pack and with all the secrets that have been kept from her as she grew up.

There's romance in the story too, though the way it ended makes me wonder how it's going to play out in the rest of the series given the turn of events.

This is an incredible start to a series. I was completely hooked from the first page and love the characters. This was so much more than I was expecting, a very unique gripping story. You can feel everything along with the characters. It's a fast paced read with intriguing twists, you're not fully sure who you can actually trust. That ending though! It leaves you dying for the next book

This is my first read from H.L. Gritón and I loved it!!! Such an awesome read!!! I love that this series is based on wolfs🙌🏼 love the paranormal, mystery, angst and love story of Liam and Genesis. But that ending killed me!!! Ugh I need book 2!

Not your typical romance story

I'll admit I hesitated a little bit when I read the description of this book because I'm not usually one to pick up a romance novel, but this was not your typical romance story. There was so much more going on than just a romance. In the interest of avoiding spoilers I won't go into detail, but I will say that there are some great fantasy elements at play in this story. The main character was interesting and felt like a real person. The writing also flowed well. Overall I definitely enjoyed this one.

From the very first page I was drawn in and didn’t want to put it down. I loved the way Genesis comes into this world (this was probably my favorite part. It was just so captivating) and then later on discovers what makes her such a rare gem turning this into a coming of age story too. I totally enjoyed this!

I really liked this book and can't wait to read book 2. The love story between Liam and Genesis is so fun. The characters are all done wonderfully and each member of the crazy world the author had created has their own style and flare. There were a few typos but that happens to the best of us. They did not take away from the story at all. I would 100% recommend to friends.

Genesis grew up moving around all her life. Her Aunt Cammie decided in her last year of high school that she should attend public school so she could experience school life. That is when she meets her best friend Madeline. Her and Madeline share a unique bond like sisters. Never ever did either one of them expect the twists and turns their lives would take. Genesis grew up normal only to find out she is the farthest from normal that anyone could get.
I have to say first thats its very rare for me to read stories like this about werewolves or other mythical creatures. It takes a lot for one to draw me in. This book had me hooked once I read the prologue!! This is the best book that I've ever read in this genre EVER!! The whole story is absolutely brilliant and written perfectly. Every single character is unique in their own way. The main characters definitely suck you into their story and they don't let go at all. I can't say how much I loved this book and I can't wait to dig into book 2!! Amazing amazing read!!
