That Ph.D wasn’t all it was cracked up to be (and she really sucked at the whole scientist thing), so she dropped out and got a M.S. in forensic toxicology just to get the whole thing over with as soon as possible.
After graduation she got a job with the state of Colorado as their one and only hog farm inspector and spent her days wandering the Eastern Plains shooting the shit with farmers. After a few years of that, she got bored. And since she was a homeschool mom and actually does love science, she decided to write science textbooks and make online classes for other homeschool moms. Sin with Me is the first of four books in the Original Sin series, this is also the first release of the writing duo of JA Huss and Johnathan McClain. As a reader who has devoured all things Julie, this was a new experience and one that I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to get. It was erotic, melancholy and stunning. The first book builds the suspense and leaves you craving more.
Two very distinct voices that just came together in an explosion on the pages.
Told in dual POV with a few chapters of dueling dialogues and inner monologues – I have to admit those were some of my favorite moments, there was just something about those moments that allowed the scenes to soar.
In the debut, we meet Tyler and Maddie. Two broken souls in the city of sin. There was something tragic about both characters. Tyler, whose scars on the inside, rivaled those on the outside and Maddie, who hadn’t quite figured out how to give up, but wasn’t climbing any further from her hole. She was stuck. Dreaming big but living small.
Although this book was sexy as sin and a little tragic, there were these breaks where Tyler’s sarcasm and humor shined. But with each quick witted remark or musing, after the laugh faded you were left feeling like he was just masking his pain. There was a desperation about him. A man who was just waiting out the time left in this life.
And Maddie... poor fucking Maddie. I think what I loved most was how easily it was to find pieces of myself in the rubble. This is a gift that this author has. The creation of characters that are just real. They come alive on the pages and they are relatable. Sure, your struggle might not be as dramatic, but man, you just can relate to them. It’s pure fucking magic.
Sin with me was BOLD. It was animalistic. And it was FUCKING HEARTBREAKING. One bite of the forbidden and I am addicted.

J.A. Huss and Jonathan McClain deliver the first book in their four book series all of which promises to be released by May 8th. I’m pretty sure Ms. Huss wrote our hero, Tyler whose as quirky, damaged, and delicious as her heros from her Rook and Ronin series.
Tyler has a reoccurring dream about a redheaded angel who he continues not to save in time. This dream leads into real life as Maddie is a down on her luck stripper under the Vegas lights. Call it fate, or kismet, but these two are fantastic together!
"It’s you,” he says.
"Yeah,” I say back. It’s me. The devil in disguise.”
The story is told in alternating povs of both Tyler and Maddie. The authors gift more than enough storyline to have me eager to read on!

Everybody’s damaged in their own way, it’s just at what level that is the question. Maddie and Tyler are both suffering from trauma that has left them lost in this world. They’re living to just exist. That is until they meet each other and think maybe there might be something bigger. Or is it another opportunity to get knocked back down?
Nothing like reading a book that makes you take a look at your own life. Jesus. This book. Despite causing some self reflection, it was also pretty funny. Tyler’s rambling was humorous. But more than anything I kept looking at Tyler and Maddie’s connection. I knew there was more to it. If you’ve read Huss before then you know something big is about to happen.
I always find it interesting how JA Huss pieces a story together. I’m always looking for the clues and I just need to be patient and let her take me there. This is the first book she has written with Jonathan McClain and you can feel his presence in the story. It was a great blend of both writers. These two work really well together.
This story was very fast pace. I was at the end before I knew it and trying to keep turning pages because they did not just leave us with this huge cliffhanger! Gah! I need the next book! ARC provided by authors.

Oh my gawd!!! J.A. Huss has always done crazy unlike any other but now with Johnathan McClain they take crazy to a whole new level!!!
Maddie’s life hasn’t turned out the way she had thought or planned for it. She’s stripping for a living and she’s got a mobster breathing down her neck even as every endeavor she attempts fails. Life has dumped all over her and there’s not a lot of motivation left for anything other than continuing on in the same vein she’s been traveling for the last several years. She is despair personified.
On the other side of Vegas is Tyler. He’s got enough money to buy God himself and yet he could care less. His life has become a mishmash of drinking, sex, prescription drugs and waiting for the end to finally arrive. With the newly recurring dreams to further torture him he lives out his days in a void with the exception of the crazy that resides in his mind.
This story was freaking awesome! From the beginning I felt every moment of anguish and self-flagellation. Neither of these characters felt worthy of anything good in their lives. When they finally meet, the chemistry pours off the page and I was tapping as quickly as possible as these authors drove the expectation higher and higher with each scene. While separately Maddie and Tyler were tortured individuals, together they became something more, something whole…perhaps even something that could move forward instead of being held prisoner in the past?
I can’t even express the wild ride this book took me on. I dove in and never once stopped. When I reached the end I was tearing all around the internet trying to find something, anything that was going to shine a little light on what was going to happen next. So yep, it’s a cliffhanger and I’m not a fan of them but OMG! It couldn’t have ended at a more spectacularly timed moment if the devil himself had chosen it. And I’m not sure he didn’t!

“Alchemy”
There is pervasive “alchemy” within and without this scintillating, angst-filled, volatile story of two shattered souls on a collision course for one another. “Alchemy” is the descriptive word that the dark hero, Tyler uses when explaining, “That thing one person has with another person that they can’t explain. When people call it chemistry, they’re wrong, of course. Chemistry is science and finding someone you can stand being around, that’s alchemy.”
Alchemy is also that mysterious force, energy that the ancient mystics tried to harness for many purposes, some good and some not so good.
The story opens with our dark hero, Tyler, half out of his mind with lingering PTSD issues incurred from severely traumatic experiences he suffered during his service as an Explosive Ordinance Demolitions expert in the military. He is also suffering from personal grief over the loss of one his childhood friends. For some inexplicable reason, he feels responsible for his death.
The reader is immersed in his madness as we read from his POV. He has trouble with keeping track of time. He is drowning his feelings in meaningless sex, booze and prescribed tranquilizers taken improperly. His mood alternates between having an “eff you” attitude to despair over his personal worthlessness. He has come home to the madness that is Las Vegas, even though he has the money to go anywhere in the world. He experienced a financial windfall as he left the service, but the money is not healing his gaping emotional wounds.
He finds himself dreaming of a strange heaven with a ministering angel. The dream is comforting and soothing until fiery mayhem reigns at the end of the dream and then he wakes up even more agitated.
We are introduced to our dark heroine, Maddie, who barely is making a life for herself. She wants to start a respectable business, but she is stripping to get quick money to solve immediate financial concerns. She also has underworld financial obligations which have unfairly been thrust upon her. She is depressed and suffering mightily from some trauma which is revealed further on in the narrative. She tries to hold herself above the “seediness” of the sex trade environment but the illusion of herself as “above it all” and “different” from the strippers and call girls is shattered when she meets Tyler who was dragged to the strip club where she performs by his best friend.
For Tyler, when he sees her on the stripper's stage, she is the angel of his dream and coincidentally as per the strange alchemy at work in the story she is costumed as an angel. Tyler can barely control himself as he needs to be with this angel and so they spend their first evening together in the champagne room where Maddie becomes the angel/whore for this man who needs her so. He pays her thousands of dollars for this night.
Just as there is inexplicable alchemy between our dark damaged lovers, indeed, there is alchemy between the two authors. From their first meeting and throughout their relationship, our main character’s erotic encounters were written like the author’s were composing music...a duet. The base notes are violence and despair in the chords of desire and lust making this strange music…borne of alchemy. The mid scene POV switches from Maddie to Tyler back and forth effectively communicate the desperate wild passionate need and release our lovers find in each other’s arms. It was almost cinematic; like changing camera shots during a scene on film. The effect on the reader…words fail me for the intensity of the heat and dizzying “feels”.
The magic of alchemy…turning “blackness and poison” into light?
Throughout the narrative you can appreciate the writing style of Ms. Huss. There is always a level of brilliance in her writing of the “darker” romance. The reader can also detect the touch of Mr. McClain. There are certain uniquely male mannerisms that would not readily come to the female writer. Perhaps Tyler’s bouts of exhibitionism as he stands nude before his wall of windows and the pride he has in his equipment even as his best friend remarks how nice it is. There is so much these alchemists can do with this infusion of testosterone.
Sometimes, readers are impatient or even feel cheated because a book ends on a cliffhanger as is the case here. I do not feel cheated in the least. The writing was superb, and there was a lot of story to be read in this book. This story looks like it will be expansive. Personally, I adore a sexy, expansive story that will have us on tether hooks until all is said and done in May 2018. Fortunately, each book will be released very shortly after the last. There is some serious sexy combustible alchemy at work with these two authors and I, for one, cannot miss it!

“Two broken people in a city fuelled by sin.”
Maddie is a stripper in sin city, Las Vegas. This was never in her life plan, she had way bigger dreams to chase but this is where she is nonetheless. She has been to college and plans to be successful but getting there is a rocky path. A steady income stripping means she can pay her rent while she tries to make her next business idea a reality. Lap dancing for drunk, horny men is the only way for now.
Tyler is pretty messed up, physically, mentally and emotionally. He is ex-military where he has worked on some extremely dangerous, life threatening missions and the last one cost his colleagues their lives. He lives with the guilt and horrendous nightmares every day of his life. The output of that is lost days of drinking and loose women, he is just wasting his life away. Not all of his dreams are painful, there is one in particular that seems to happen frequently featuring an angel, a beautiful girl with flowing red hair and fairy wings – she is trying to save him.
Tyler gets dragged along to a strip bar one night, very reluctantly, by his brother and his workmates. Not his scene at all but as he was about to leave he looks up and sees the girl he has been dreaming of, right there on the stage dressed like an angel. He needs to get closer to her….
"She smells like fresh cream, and sea salt, and cotton candy, and sunshine, and innocence. And now I can feel the blood rushing to my cock. The inside of my jeans starts pulsing in time with my beating heart."
There is an insane level of attraction and soul recognition between Tyler and Maddie. A weird connection that they both feel and Tyler is determined to spend more time with this girl who has completely tipped his world on his axis. Maddie can’t even begin to understand what is happening anytime she is around this man. She looses her mind and becomes someone else whenever they are are in close proximity to each other.
"Who is this man who has forced his way into my life? And he has. Forced himself. Because he is. A force."
I don’t think Tyler even wants to understand why he feels so connected to Maddie, he just does and for the first time in his life it feels right. In the depth of despair and misery, she is a shining angel, sent to brighten up his life and he needs that right now. She does too.
“I want someone to sin with me tonight. That’s all I need.” He smiles the smile of a demon on his home turf. “I might take you to hell and back, angel.”
Maddie also has danger breathing down her neck, someone is after her and Tyler has already saved her once. On a night when they are both at their lowest there is a moment of clarity for both of them and Maddie is horrified when she realises the truth about their connection. This is when the story takes a new turn which then leads to a nice little cliff hanger ending…. A fantastic beginning to this exciting fast paced story.

Tyler gets dragged along to a strip bar one night, very reluctantly, by his brother and his workmates. Not his scene at all but as he was about to leave he looks up and sees the girl he has been dreaming of, right there on the stage dressed like an angel. He needs to get closer to her….
"She smells like fresh cream, and sea salt, and cotton candy, and sunshine, and innocence. And now I can feel the blood rushing to my cock. The inside of my jeans starts pulsing in time with my beating heart."
There is an insane level of attraction and soul recognition between Tyler and Maddie. A weird connection that they both feel and Tyler is determined to spend more time with this girl who has completely tipped his world on his axis. Maddie can’t even begin to understand what is happening anytime she is around this man. She looses her mind and becomes someone else whenever they are are in close proximity to each other.
"Who is this man who has forced his way into my life? And he has. Forced himself. Because he is. A force."
I don’t think Tyler even wants to understand why he feels so connected to Maddie, he just does and for the first time in his life it feels right. In the depth of despair and misery, she is a shining angel, sent to brighten up his life and he needs that right now. She does too.
“I want someone to sin with me tonight. That’s all I need.” He smiles the smile of a demon on his home turf. “I might take you to hell and back, angel.”
Maddie also has danger breathing down her neck, someone is after her and Tyler has already saved her once. On a night when they are both at their lowest there is a moment of clarity for both of them and Maddie is horrified when she realises the truth about their connection. This is when the story takes a new turn which then leads to a nice little cliff hanger ending…. A fantastic beginning to this exciting fast paced story.

Wow! Just. Holy fucking wow.
Yep. This is intense. Like, super fucking intense. I don't have adequate words to describe how I am feeling after finishing this wild ride. And oh, my god. This is one wild ride. One crazy, intense, wild, fucking ride.
I don't know what rock Johnathan McClain has been hiding under (just kidding, he hasn't been under a rock, he's been out in the open writing and doing other things, but that isn't the point here), but holy fucking shit where has he been all this time? He's the voice this romance world needs.
And Julie, oh, we all know and love Julie at this point. But she did something extra special here. She did something so extraordinarily Huss, yet not. And there's really no way to explain that unless you've read her other work, not to mention this book. It's just phenomenal.
Bring these two together? BOOM. Big fucking explosion. Of the figurative sense, for sure. And maybe of the literal sense. I have no idea. I'm sure something could have exploded during the writing and/or reading of this book. I know that my mind basically exploded, but that's figurative again so....
Tyler Morgan. Well, shit. I think I have a new man to love. See, he's so not book boyfriend material. He's the antihero, despite the weird circumstances in which he keeps showing up. But he's not the antihero we've come to know and love from Huss. He's a new antihero. Because I'm pretty sure there are times when you'll think he's batshit crazy and you'll want to run in the other direction. But then there are those times where he's got you droppin' panties because he's so unbelievably dirty.
I mean, come the fuck on. You know you dropped the panties when he said that. And that alley scene?! Just Jesus Christ. Yes. Please. However you want to give it.

We devoured Sin With Me by JA Huss and Johnathan McClain in one sitting. It was fast paced, dark, hot and twisted with a stellar humorous sarcasm threaded through it. The writing was brilliant and this partnership was flawless and seemed effortless. The characters were screwed up emotionally just how we love them and the storyline packed quite the punch. Told in dual POV we absolutely fell in love with and connected to both characters; losing our hearts to Tyler immediately. We are dying to get our grabby hands on the next instalment in this four part series which are releasing in short succession.
‘We are two people filled with the same world of hurt and for some reason, it makes me feel better and worse all at once and I need to know more about him. Because…because I don’t want to see myself in this stranger. I don’t want to see the pain and sadness. Whatever’s bothering him…I want to fix it.’
Maddie and Tyler have copious secrets and tremendous emotional baggage, each carrying guilt, heartbreak and disillusionment. Tyler’s inner monologue floored us. It was funny, cocky, vulnerable, confused and so very despondent. He’s a hero who’s lost himself and is tempting the odds at life and living. Under a tough and scarred exterior lies a loving soul and a pure heart. Sometimes we find solace in sadness and question anything that isn’t what we know and recognise. When death doesn’t scare us we walk into peril willingly and confront it with resignation.
He has scars all over his body that I don’t want to know about.
He fights men with guns like he doesn’t care if he lives or dies
He may think I’m REALLY an angel. Which may make him A CRAZY PERSON.
He probably has an actual name but I have no idea what it is.
He fucks better than anyone I’ve ever met.
I haven’t been able to stop thinking about him.
Assessment: This guy is bad news.
A reluctant connection, a recognition of souls, broken hearts and shattered dreams. An avoidance of reality. A simple survival existence lost on a self-destructive path. Neither Maddie nor Tyler are necessarily looking to be saved until a surprising recognition of a part of themselves in each other.
‘We just stare at each other. Finding something in this moment. In each other. Something we recognise. Like…a dream you forgot and then remember. Or a stranger who feels like an old friend.’
Packed full of suspense, raw emotion, explosive passion and an endearing tenderness this series is without question one for readers like us who enjoy dark romance with tortured heroes and strong yet lost heroines. We can say without hesitation that this collaboration is one of our favourites out there right now. Bring on the next instalment because we cannot stop thinking about this story!

If you follow my reviews it is no secret to you that I read a lot of JA Huss. Her stories, her writing style, her world building all just resonate with me and I feel like I've found a kindred spirit in this author and maybe she really "gets me". I don't think I'm alone with these thoughts, I think a lot of her readers feel the same way, and she's created a small (12,000 member) Facebook group for her avid readers who devour her books. It feels like a family in there. Well, Julie has introduced a new member into the family. Her writing partner, Johnathan McClain. They've paired up to write a four book series together. I was of course curious to see how these two were going to collaborate and craft these stories. Would it still feel like a Julie book? What was Johnathan going to bring to the table?
I needn't have worried at all. This is classic Julie, with an added dash of supreme wit that is Johnathan McClain. Tyler and Maddie are two very damaged people who are just trying to keep going each and every day. Tyler by losing himself in booze and sex, and Maddie visualizing she's climbing a never-ending mountain. Neither one in a place they thought they would be. But time and circumstances have beaten them down. Throw in some pretty devastating life events, and you're left with two shells of their former selves.
Told in dual point of view, Julie and Johnathan craft such an intensely layered story that I felt like I was a fly on the wall, living and breathing alongside these people. Tyler Morgan, he is probably the most refreshing character I've read about in a long time. This dude lives half his life inside his head! Internal monologue can sometimes be a tricky thing in a book. If it's too long or tedious, it can detract from the story, but let me just say, it totally works in this one! The thoughts that run through Tyler's head at any given time are completely hilarious!
I'm super fucking witty. Everybody says so.
I agree!! He is super fucking witty. And interesting. He's more interesting than The Most Interesting Man in the World. By far. But Tyler has a lot of demons he is fighting, ones that have had ahold of him for way too long. The only thing that seems to be a saving grace for him is Maddie. Maddie has been pushing through each day for the past seven years. Nothing seems to work out for her, and she just keeps making one mistake after another with her life. No matter how much she keeps climbing that mountain, she never makes any progress. But when she's with Tyler she finds a peace she hasn't felt in a very long time.
Put these two together, and they are explosive.
We are fire. We are combustion. We are the raging inferno of purifying flame that will singe away all our pain and leave us barren and ready to begin again. In the punishing passion that we share, we can torture away whatever nightmares plague us and both wake born anew.
With three more books to go and just a few hints so far as to what is coming, Maddie and Tyler have a long road ahead of them. The question in my head at this point is, will they be taking that road together or will they continue to struggle through alone? I sure hope not because together, I think they are a force to be reckoned with.

Now THAT is how you begin a damn series! WOW! Just wow! I’m amazed! I’m stunned! I’m blown away by the magnitude that this book affected me! Maddie and Tyler are an absolute MYSTERY, but they are also being weighed down by certain demons. They are indeed broken in their own way, but when their paths cross, there is no going back. The mystery begins to unfold and the rollercoaster ride of passion begins!
SIN WITH ME is book #1 in a four-book contemporary romance series by the dynamic duo that consists of bestselling author J.A. Huss and veteran actor and writer, Johnathan McClain. Co-written romances are tough, as you may well know, but these two created something so incredibly emotional, sexy, and mysterious…it was written like it was done with one mind, one soul, one heart. Following Maddie and Tyler, each in their own chapters, the story is well done, and filled with both danger and hope.
Story:
Sin With Me is set in Las Vegas, and follows a young woman, who is a stripper - but not by choice. The other main character, Tyler, is suffering from PTSD, but trying his best to stay afloat. By numbing all his senses. By trying to stay awake so his dreams won't take him back to places he has no want to revisit. This doesn't work too well for him, and thanks to a very good friend, he is not able to stay solely in his head.
Both Tyler and Maddie hate Halloween - which is coming up. And they need to find something to do so they won't suffer too much from their loss, disappointment and self-loathing. After a chance-meeting at Maddie's work, they become infatuated with each other. Neither of them can understand why, but they have a strong feeling of belonging when they are together.
The ending was a whirlwind of feelings, and I am so happy the next book is out in only two weeks, because I need it. I have to know what will happen to Maddie...
Characters:
Tyler has a dark past, and no real view of how his future could be any better. Until he starts dreaming of an angel... one who seems so very real - but whom he cannot save.

Evan is Tyler's best friend. And he knows part of why Tyler is hiding from everyone and everything. But he's doing his best to bring Tyler out of his shell and start living again.
Dr. Eldridge is Tyler's psychiatrist, and to say she's rather unconventional is the understatement of the year. She was extremely refreshing, though, and I sure hope she'll show up in the next books as well.
Writing style :
Sin With Me is written in first person present tense, with chapters from either Tyler's or Maddie's point of view. I also have to say that I'm very impressed, because having read a lot of Huss's books, I was not able to see who had written what in this story - which means that the two writers managed to mesh their styles perfectly.
Feels :
First of all, I definitely felt the characters' anguish, and how they were disappointed in themselves. How they didn't have much hope for the future. Mostly because they didn't think they deserved anything good in life. I need to know more about them, but I felt like I should infuse them with some hope and some real dreams!
But very predictable. And I like predictable, so I don't even mind it. Because in my experience, surprises are very rarely a good thing. Predictable is safe. Predictable has rules. It makes sense.
I dunno if it's because I just went car-shopping or if there's some other reason this pops into my head but I pull the first name I can think of out of the air,. "Ford, I'm Ford."
"Ford what?" she asks.
I stumble for a second. "Uh..." Then I just decide to go with the car theme and pick out the first car company that comes to me, Aston Martin. "Um, Aston. I'm Ford Aston."
Silence. Can. Have. Weight.
And the silence in the small room after my big outburst is intensely heavy.

Wow, will this author ever run out of brilliant ideas for her stories? It appears not because she's only gone and done it again and this time as a collaboration with a Hollywood star!!! You heard right. Yes I will put my hands up though and say, initially I was a little sceptical about whether this partnership would work but fear not because Julie and Johnathan absolutely rocked "Sin with me," the first book in the "Original Sin" series and I cannot wait to see what they have in store next for Maddie and Tyler.
In stark contrast to Tyler, Maddie was desperate to do "something." She was the kind of person that would have hair brain ideas on how to get rich quick or how to forge a career for herself but her ideas always ended up going flat. I truly felt for her because you could see that the life she had was not the life she had hoped for but there just didn't seem like a way out for her.
Tyler and Maddie were a couple I was rooting for. Both were lost and lonely. Both had their secrets and both had a past that seemed to have affected the people they had become in the present. I felt their hurt and pain, the angst flying off the pages by the bucket load. Yet there was also a humour amongst the pages that seemed to fit so seamlessly. Dark with light, laughter with sorrow... it shouldn't have worked but it did and did so well.
"Sin with Me" was quirky and funny and heart breaking and melancholic. And boy did Julie and Johnathan bring their A game when it came to the sexy and sinful. This was a fab introduction to what looks to be a fabulous series and as I said earlier in my review, I can't wait to see what happens next for this couple. Was there a cliffy? Yes there was. Was there a moment where everything came together in a WTF moment? Hell yes, this is JA Huss after all. Not long to wait for "Angels Fall" thank god!!!! I rated "Sin with Me" ❤️❤️❤️❤️

We're just a bunch of fuck ups who have to deal with what we've done.For me, "Sin with Me" was a slow burner of a read but in a good way. It really allowed me to get to know each of the main characters as individuals before the main plot took full effect and before a connection between the couple was made. I savoured every second of getting to know these complex, broken individuals and it really helped me get a better understanding of each of them and why they were the way they were. At times this made for difficult reading because these two had been through so much. Initially Tyler left me baffled. His inner monologue appeared erratic at times, jumping from topic to topic and back again, his brain never appearing to switch off. This was a man who had financial means to buy anything and everything his heart desired but it was like the life had been sucked right out of him. There was no drive. No ambition. Just this downward spiral that he had no intention of pulling himself out of. It was tragic to read. What I will say is, bare with him because he is not a conventional book boyfriend and probably not easy to take to at the start but actually the more I got to know him, the more I liked him. He was actually quite the funny guy and had me in stitches so many times. His wit and one liners were class and what should have been an angsty story often had me grinning like a cheshire cat.
We are combustion. We are the raging inferno of purifying flame that will singe away all our pain and leave us barren and ready to begin again. In the punishing passion that we share, we can torture away whatever nightmares plague us and both wake born anew. We are each others suicide.
In stark contrast to Tyler, Maddie was desperate to do "something." She was the kind of person that would have hair brain ideas on how to get rich quick or how to forge a career for herself but her ideas always ended up going flat. I truly felt for her because you could see that the life she had was not the life she had hoped for but there just didn't seem like a way out for her.
Tyler and Maddie were a couple I was rooting for. Both were lost and lonely. Both had their secrets and both had a past that seemed to have affected the people they had become in the present. I felt their hurt and pain, the angst flying off the pages by the bucket load. Yet there was also a humour amongst the pages that seemed to fit so seamlessly. Dark with light, laughter with sorrow... it shouldn't have worked but it did and did so well.
She is Eve but I am not Adam. I am the serpent wrenching her out of Eden. And together we are original sin.
"Sin with Me" was quirky and funny and heart breaking and melancholic. And boy did Julie and Johnathan bring their A game when it came to the sexy and sinful. This was a fab introduction to what looks to be a fabulous series and as I said earlier in my review, I can't wait to see what happens next for this couple. Was there a cliffy? Yes there was. Was there a moment where everything came together in a WTF moment? Hell yes, this is JA Huss after all. Not long to wait for "Angels Fall" thank god!!!! I rated "Sin with Me" ❤️❤️❤️❤️

HOLY….. Cannoli…. I’m at a loss for words.
Everyone who knows me knows I love Julie A. Huss’ writing. I buy every book on release day and gift her books to family and friends often. Now I can admit that I felt a little nervous when she announced that she is going to partner with Johnathan McClain on a book series. Every day until the book appeared on my Kindle; I braced myself that a partnership would change the type of stories and, more importantly, Julie’s writing style. Wow did I worry for nothing! Sin with Me is an outstanding beginning to the Original Sin series by Julie and Johnathan. They work wonderfully together. Their styles meld nicely and flow smoothly into one twisted voice. YEAH!
Sin with Me is Tyler Morgan and Maddie Clayton’s story. These two people are struggling with loss. Tyler is a soldier with survivor’s guilt. Maddie lost someone too unexpectedly. She can't move forward with her life. They meet up unexpectedly. There is an immediate attraction that neither of them understands. Maddie fights it but craves Tyler.
Maddie is working as a stripper in Las Vegas. She feels abandoned by the people she loves. On the outside, Tyler appears to have it all, but that is a façade. Tyler made a lot of money and doesn't have to work another day. Maddie has dreams but can't stick with anything long enough to make it work.
I love how these two characters complement each other. From their first meeting, the chemistry is there even if they aren’t aware it exists. There is something about Maddie that reminds Tyler of his recurring dream. Maddie recognizes their shared pain and the cry for help.
The ancillary characters are interesting. Tyler’s friends, especially Evan, are his support. They worry about him and encourage him to forgive himself. Maddie doesn’t have friends, or so she thinks until her acquaintances surprise me, and her too. That is a kind of theme running through the story, how these two are so different but not really.
In true JA Huss style, Sin with Me is dark and twisted. Johnathan’s voice adds to the sinfully twisted storyline seamlessly. I love the alternating points of view of Tyler and Maddie. Getting in their heads reveal the depth of their pain and how neither character finds life comfortable even though it wasn't always that way. Honestly, I expected the twist or secret revealed, but I didn’t expect THE SECRET TWIST reveal. I am stressing and still thinking about these characters after several days. What an absolutely poignant and captivating story from beginning to end.
I love how these authors take some dark and painful scenes then sprinkle in a little humor relief. The contrast of Tyler’s despair and depression to his macho-protector side when he is around Maddie is charming. The same is true for Maddie. She is holding on to life by a string then when Tyler a.k.a. Ford Aston (that made me laugh) appears she has someone to give her strength and forget.
Sin with Me is a cliffhanger. While I am not a cliffhanger fan, this writing duo can whip out books quickly making the gap between books easy. Angels Fall scheduled to release on March 27. The characters and their story are so memorable I know they will be on my mind when the next book drops. I for one can’t wait to see how Tyler and Maddie’s adventures continue. I want more now!

Sin With Me is the first book in a four-book, romantic suspense series from the new writing team of J.A. Huss and Johnathan McClain. Sin With Me beautifully sets up what is sure to be a scintillating four-act story.
Maddie, whose stage name is Scarlet, is pretty, petite, and smart, but she has a knack for making bad decisions that have staying power. What is she doing with that degree from LVNU? She is doing nothing lucrative and nothing prestigious. Personal tragedy in her past haunts her daily. She has surrounded herself with people who are equally stuck in a downward spiral of bad choices and despair. Her situation seems hopeless, and I found myself feeling oppressed with her burdens as well as desperately wanting to help her.
Tyler, a veteran with a lucrative patent, has it made financially; however, his multiple tours of duty have left him physically and emotionally scarred. His reality sometimes seems like a bad acid trip. Between the copious amounts of alcohol he consumes and his mood-altering prescriptions, Tyler is clearly losing the battle with his demons. “Will the angel of his dreams drag him to the depths of Hell?” is the million-dollar question.
Ms. Huss and Mr. McClain cleverly present their characters. In alternating chapters, Maddie and Tyler give readers their backstory and share the skeletons in their closets. The female-male writing team adds a sense of veracity to the voices of their female and male characters. Maddie is intelligent and hopeful and yet filled with despair. Tyler is humorous in his meandering musings, and he feels doomed and hopeless in his survivor’s guilt. While it felt like I could pick out which author wrote which character, the writing fits like two perfectly matched puzzle pieces.
True to Ms. Huss' style, the story is more than it seems. Sin With Me is a lot of character development and story set up. Readers get a punch to the gut reveal and a tantalizing segue to the next book in the series, Angels Fall (due March 27th). The plot has a great pace and a good balance of suspense and hotness. Some of the scenes are surreal (in the Hunter S. Thompson sort of alternative reality way). All in all, Sin With Me is not only an excellent debut as a new writing team, but a fantastic story with a great hook. I for one, am anxiously awaiting the next installment of Maddie and Tyler’s tale.

They share an intense connection right off the bat. Tyler is convinced that Maddie is the one sent to save him, where deep down he knows that their affiliation could combust in a blaze of glory. Add to it an unbelievable twist, this story becomes more explosive than you could imagine!

What. A. Ride! And to think, this is only just the beginning. We’ve barely scratched the surface of Tyler and Maddie’s story, which also means—there’s going to be so much more juicer, hotter, dirtier and more heart-stopping things coming up in the next books in the series than what we just witnessed here!
In Sin With Me, we’re introduced to Tyler Morgan and Maddie Clayton who are two characters so utterly broken, damaged and trapped in their own nightmares. You’ll feel deep in your bones just how shattered these two are. How grief-stricken and lonely they are. They weren’t even living anymore; they were merely coasting through life, coping in their own way. And it HURT. That sadness truly came across loud and clear to me in this book because even I started to feel the pain and loneliness these characters were feeling. It was surely overwhelming, feeling all these kinds of emotions while being driven to the point of insanity, but in an oddly good way. Because it made me connect with them more. Feel for them and be with them in every single moment.
This book was certainly all kinds of hot and it was immensely seductive, but I guess what drew me even more to this story was how much Tyler and Maddie’s brokenness, that state of feeling lost and despair that they share, pulled them even closer to each other. It was that brokenness that made them find solace in each other’s presence and arms and bodies, and made them... whole.
Midway through, I started to have my own hunch on where things could lead up to, but that didn’t even take an inch away from the intensity levels this book showed me. The build up was that strong in this one. You just get more and more sucked into what you’re reading the farther you go.
Sin With Me was undoubtedly dark and twisted and unlike any other I’ve read before. Just the tone of writing, especially with Tyler’s inner ramblings, was enough to pull me into the craziness and uniqueness of this story. I honestly love a book that drives me nuts—like legit batshit crazy, and Ms. Huss has never failed to take me there. But now with Mr. McClain—an equally brilliant and talented actor and narrator—everything was brought to heights I couldn’t have imagined when reading a J. A. Huss book. But it’s here—this book is solid proof. And it was FIRE. My heart and wits were just completely blown to smithereens and I couldn’t get enough.
Let me tell you, this brand new writing duo is beyond a match made in heaven. I couldn’t even distinguish who wrote what in this book. Their voices, those precious writing hands, just blended so seamlessly well. And regardless of the insanity and the heart-pounding moments that surrounded Tyler and Maddie’s tale, these two authors were still able to inject a great amount of humor that will make you crack up, balancing out the heavy tone of the book.
JH & JM might be the new kids on the block in this co-authoring world, but you’ll soon realize, once you read this book, what a knockout of a GEM they are together. Like they’ve actually been doing this for YEARS. Because it was just. That. Flawless. This series is gearing up to be one of my greats—I just know it. And I’m already bursting at the seams for Angels Fall, what with the ending and cliffhanger we were left with. I’m ready to get thrown back into the flames. My body is ready. My mind is ready. My heart is ready. Bring. It. On.

One of my favorite authors, Julie Huss, has teamed up with audiobook narrator and actor Johnathan McClain to write a series of romance books. Between a best-selling romance author and a romance audiobook narrator, I'd say they have the credentials to give us something good.
And, based on book 1 in their Original Sin series, it's not just going to be good - it's going to be great.
Maddie's and Tyler's lives have taken two different paths to the same place - rock bottom. When Sin With Me begins, that's where both of them are, even though rock bottom looks slightly different for each of them.
Maddie is more than broke. After a string of failed business ventures, she's not only in debt, but she owes a very bad man a big sum of money. With a college degree and yet no professional prospects on the horizon, Maddie is forced to strip to pay her bills, and every time she does it, it sucks a little more of her soul away.
Tyler has more money than he can spend, but he hates how it came into his possession. His time as an explosives expert in the military is over, and now that he's home in Las Vegas, he doesn't know what to do next. His experiences while deployed and the fates that have befallen his friends are haunting him, and no amount of women or booze is helping him to move on.
Both Maddie and Tyler need something to live for, because neither of them have that now. At various times in the book, both of them contemplate ending things for good. Truthfully, these two are some of the saddest and most despondent people I've ever read about. And yet...
When they are together, despite them both being total and complete hot messes, I actually have some hope that they could be okay eventually. It's this underlying hope that keeps the book from being utterly depressing. They are good for each other, even though I don't think they know that yet. They certainly are hot together, and they both definitely know that, even though Maddie continues to fight it every step of the way.
There's something that ties Tyler and Maddie together, and while the reader is clued into this thing pretty early on, our main characters don't find out until the very end. And, that big reveal provides the backdrop for a jaw dropping ending.
There's a lot of stuff for Maddie and Tyler to work out over the next three books. Maddie's still being chased by very bad, murderous men. Tyler is also in a bit of hot water by the very end. And they are definitely not at a good place in their relationship. I promise, you're going to want to read the next book in the series right away - I know I do. But, most of all, I just can't wait for Maddie and Tyler to find some freaking happiness. I have faith in Julie and Johnathan that eventually they'll get there. But, the journey looks like it's going to be quite a bit bumpy.

And, based on book 1 in their Original Sin series, it's not just going to be good - it's going to be great.
Maddie's and Tyler's lives have taken two different paths to the same place - rock bottom. When Sin With Me begins, that's where both of them are, even though rock bottom looks slightly different for each of them.
Maddie is more than broke. After a string of failed business ventures, she's not only in debt, but she owes a very bad man a big sum of money. With a college degree and yet no professional prospects on the horizon, Maddie is forced to strip to pay her bills, and every time she does it, it sucks a little more of her soul away.
Tyler has more money than he can spend, but he hates how it came into his possession. His time as an explosives expert in the military is over, and now that he's home in Las Vegas, he doesn't know what to do next. His experiences while deployed and the fates that have befallen his friends are haunting him, and no amount of women or booze is helping him to move on.
Both Maddie and Tyler need something to live for, because neither of them have that now. At various times in the book, both of them contemplate ending things for good. Truthfully, these two are some of the saddest and most despondent people I've ever read about. And yet...
When they are together, despite them both being total and complete hot messes, I actually have some hope that they could be okay eventually. It's this underlying hope that keeps the book from being utterly depressing. They are good for each other, even though I don't think they know that yet. They certainly are hot together, and they both definitely know that, even though Maddie continues to fight it every step of the way.
There's something that ties Tyler and Maddie together, and while the reader is clued into this thing pretty early on, our main characters don't find out until the very end. And, that big reveal provides the backdrop for a jaw dropping ending.
There's a lot of stuff for Maddie and Tyler to work out over the next three books. Maddie's still being chased by very bad, murderous men. Tyler is also in a bit of hot water by the very end. And they are definitely not at a good place in their relationship. I promise, you're going to want to read the next book in the series right away - I know I do. But, most of all, I just can't wait for Maddie and Tyler to find some freaking happiness. I have faith in Julie and Johnathan that eventually they'll get there. But, the journey looks like it's going to be quite a bit bumpy.

has me charmed and anxious for the next installment!

Omigoodness! You know, I've read and reviewed nearly everything Huss has written and it was starting to get difficult to come up with something fresh to say about her work. I mean, she gives good stories...good characters. And then. And then she gives me a break. She decides to collaborate with Johnathan McClain. And y'all. The result is going to have me waxing poetic!
In this first installment in The Original Sin series we're introduced to Maddie (aka Scarlett) and Tyler (aka Ford Aston). As an aside, I loved the nod to Huss' Rook & Ronin series.) Maddie is sort of down on her luck, working as a stripper to make ends meet while trying to her her latest business venture off the ground. Problem is, she's in debt to a kingpin, her strip club boss doesn't like her much, and she has some sort of anniversary looming that she can barely hold herself together just thinking about. Tyler on the other hand, is rich beyond his wildest dreams but is carrying a huge stone around his neck. He seems to believe he gets people killed. In fact, he's been dreaming about his own personal angel. And then he meets her.
Honestly, I don't know all the details of how Huss and McClain went about writing this story from dual POVs but what I do know is that each character has a distinct voice and the story flows together seamlessly. Tyler - he keeps a running dialog in his head and I kinda feel like it might represent what Huss' mind looks like but still... Another thing I know? I'm captivated. I love their separate stories and I adore how their stories converge. I knew the thing they had in common - I don't think it was meant to be a secret - but I was shocked to discover the real reason behind Maddie's fall down the rabbit hole. And I was even more shocked at the reaction both Maddie and Tyler have to the reveal. Add to that the movie references and I have to mention it again - Tyler's internal dialog which is reminiscent of Vince Vaughn's character's rapid-fire speech in the movie Swingers which makes you question his sanity, as well as Maddie's internal dialog where she rationalizes every decision she makes in a clear attempt to prove, if only to herself, she's not crazy - it all made for compelling reading.
These two have some serious issues. You want to fix them, starting by giving them the hugs they so clearly need. And you want to get to the root of their issues, help them be whole and happy. Because fate certainly seems to be at work here bringing them together.

So I’m not gonna lie, I was really nervous when JA Huss said she was going to co-write a book with someone... I have always loved her books and was unsure if it would be the same ... let me tell you, Johnathan brings something to the table that I didn’t even realize was missing! They have brought us a book full of desperation, anguish, longing, destruction and enough lust and passion to have you squirming in your seat having hot flashes. A story of two broken people in a city of sin just trying to survive. Of course we get the twist that is JA Huss is known for.
This is book one of a four book series and leaves off with crazy cliffhanger but they are amazing enough not to make us wait long for book two. I definitely recommend getting started ASAP!

I zipped through this book in no time. Dark and twisted but lovable characters. This writing duo are wonderfully, perfect collaborators. I am in love with the characters and didn't see that big twist coming. Come on book two. I need more.

We devoured Sin With Me by JA Huss and Johnathan McClain in one sitting. It was fast paced, dark, hot and twisted with a stellar humorous sarcasm threaded through it. The writing was brilliant and this partnership was flawless and seemed effortless. The characters were screwed up emotionally just how we love them and the storyline packed quite the punch. Told in dual POV we absolutely fell in love with and connected to both characters; losing our hearts to Tyler immediately. We are dying to get our grabby hands on the next instalment in this four part series which are releasing in short succession.
‘We are two people filled with the same world of hurt and for some reason, it makes me feel better and worse all at once and I need to know more about him. Because…because I don’t want to see myself in this stranger. I don’t want to see the pain and sadness. Whatever’s bothering him…I want to fix it.’
Maddie and Tyler have copious secrets and tremendous emotional baggage, each carrying guilt, heartbreak and disillusionment. Tyler’s inner monologue floored us. It was funny, cocky, vulnerable, confused and so very despondent. He’s a hero who’s lost himself and is tempting the odds at life and living. Under a tough and scarred exterior lies a loving soul and a pure heart. Sometimes we find solace in sadness and question anything that isn’t what we know and recognise. When death doesn’t scare us we walk into peril willingly and confront it with resignation.
He has scars all over his body that I don’t want to know about.
He fights men with guns like he doesn’t care if he lives or dies
He may think I’m REALLY an angel. Which may make him A CRAZY PERSON.
He probably has an actual name but I have no idea what it is.
He fucks better than anyone I’ve ever met.
I haven’t been able to stop thinking about him.
Assessment: This guy is bad news.
A reluctant connection, a recognition of souls, broken hearts and shattered dreams. An avoidance of reality. A simple survival existence lost on a self-destructive path. Neither Maddie nor Tyler are necessarily looking to be saved until a surprising recognition of a part of themselves in each other.
‘We just stare at each other. Finding something in this moment. In each other. Something we recognise. Like…a dream you forgot and then remember. Or a stranger who feels like an old friend.’
Packed full of suspense, raw emotion, explosive passion and an endearing tenderness this series is without question one for readers like us who enjoy dark romance with tortured heroes and strong yet lost heroines. We can say without hesitation that this collaboration is one of our favourites out there right now. Bring on the next instalment because we cannot stop thinking about this story!

When i first started this i wasn't sure if i was going to like it as i did struggle to connect with Tyler and Maddie, but as they book went on i found i couldn't stop reading i needed to know more about them and by the end i really liked them, i cannot wait for the next book cause that ending i really need to know more. Both Julie and Johnathan have done a great job with there first book together. Looking forward to reading more.

Two broken people meet up in Las Vegas. Maddie is down on her luck when she's forced to work as a stripper to pay off a debt and she tries to keep to the strict rule of just stripping, no sex, no touching from the customers until the night that ex-military Tyler walks in to the strip joint. These two broken souls share something much deeper that night, a connection that neither can explain. Loved it, Tyler and his inner voice is hilarious and the characters just gel even if at times Maddie comes across as very cold and unfeeling. The story line was very addictive and brilliant, the sex was hot but not for the faint hearted as it is pretty rough, raw and dirty.
