Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot had a lot to share during their financial call. The company has seen plenty of success, especially with the release of titles such as Just Dance and Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle. However, Guillemot made some remarks that confirm that Ubisoft is far from being done with the Nintendo Switch. Guillemot didn’t elaborate on what titles are planned. Here’s what was said:
“So yes, this relationship continues to grow, and we are very happy with what we were able to achieve with Mario + Rabbids. Let’s also not forget the fact that Just Dance is also a big seller on the Switch, and that will continue to follow the growth of that machine. And yes in the future we are going to do more things – we just can’t go over that right now.”

I was just going to say something about that.
I haven’t even finished the game, but I would like to see if they would make a sequel to this. Hopefully not on a yearly basis though because that would only overmarket the game(s).
I mean this is Ubisoft were talking about. Even if they make amazing games, making a sequel every year can get rather annoying. That’s why Call of Duty (although that’s from Activision) and Assassin’s Creed aren’t as big hits as they used to be. Granted their sequels probably sold well, but for every entry added every year fans become less and less interested and get convinced into thinking “It’s just the same game over and over again”. While I don’t always agree with the latter per se, I will admit I can see where they’re coming from.
After all I got tired playing Skylanders after realizing they’ve been releasing sequel after sequel on a yearly basis, which is not good for my wallet. And I thought they were well made games.
Bottom line; I’d like to see a sequel to Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle someday, but not right away.

My prediction: After I finish Assassin’s Creed Origins on PS4, then they’ll announce it for the Switch. Then I won’t care about the Switch version.
just bought M&R as it’s on discount and am seriously impressed. I noticed that it might not be the worst game after all the coverage, but it turns out to be among the best games I ever played coming from Ubisoft. I downloaded it and though it will just sit there in my library until I get tired of playing Mario Odyssey, Champion’s Ballad, Skyrim or Oxenfree.
But after just playing into it out of curiosity for a little while I need to jump back in whenever I got just a few minutes time. I wish they wouldn’t have come up with that forced storyline that’s like out of some mediocre 1990ies game but obviously it doesn’t really harm the experience.
And goddammit, I’m so suprised about the quality of the visuals and especially the animation work. This always just got described like ‘the visuals are good and the animations are nice’ but – maybe I’m just getting old – I’m seriously impressed about how squishy the rabbids are animated and how much wonderfully sculptured geometry there is to be seen in one screen and how everything fits perfectly together.
