La quiete prima della tempesta???

In the homeland of the Star Class shipyard (Folli and Lilia, the last one is just a couple of kilometre away) and some big Star Sailors (Alfio Peraboni and Dario Noseda, the first one olympic medalist, the second one the first solo to cross the Atlantic with a Star), the lake that all the world dream to live the “Dolce Vita italiana”,

under the control of the “Forte Montecchio Nord” (The best-preserved First World War fortress in Europe, as they said…), today, at home of the Yacht Club Como M.I.La. C.V.C in Domaso (in short the summer house of the Y.C.C.), has begin the 5th battle of the European Sailing Series 2018 Melges 24.

The weather condition has made difficult the Race Committee to place the field,

we don’t know why the southerly wind “BREVA” didn’t arrive as should,

so the course was little too short for the first race and a bit to much up-wind the 2 windward marks that has obliged all crews to extend the lay line.

At the end, the wind disappeared forcing the R.C. to rise AP flag on A flag. Really a pity last year for the local championship of the class has found 25[kts] (see slide show).

However it was a good way to come back on board, sunny and warm, calm and not dangerous, some teams have pulled out the bowsprit too much early and not all hoist/tack/jibe were perfect.

For a first time of the EU Series a good participation (19 inscribed, 17 today into water) from around the Europe.

Now all Sailors, Race Officers, Support Crews and photographers, are trying to understand the weather for the second day. Stay tune!
