6 females to contest governorship seat in Oyo

Six females are among the candidates cleared to contest the Oyo State governorship seat, come March 2, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

The final list of governorship candidates released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and made available to NAN in Ibadan on Friday, also indicated that 17 political parties in the state fielded females as deputy governorship candidates.

One of the parties, Advance Congress of Democrats. (ACD), fielded females as its governorship candidate and running mate.

NAN reports that 42 political parties in the state presented candidates for the election that would produce the next governor of the state.

The female governorship candidates are: Morenike
Victor-Tade of the Advance Allied Party (AAP), Funmilayo Okemakinde of All Blending Party (ABP), and Risikat Akande of ACD.

Others are Olayinka Abiodun of the Change Advocacy Party (CAP), Omobosola Owolabi of Democratic People’s Party (DPP) and Bolanle Sarumi of National Interest Party (NIP).
