Birmingham v Burton - The priority for both of these teams is to remain in Championship come the end of the season, so if it would surprise few if each club fielded much-changed sides. Birmingham head into this cup clash with a new found confidence with back-to-back wins over Leeds and Reading under their belt, but Burton too are in great form with three wins in five, so it promises to be a real hard-fought clash. With this in mind a draw is the most likely outcome. DRAW.

Blackburn v Hull - Two teams in contrasting form clash at Ewood Park in the third round of the FA Cup. League One outfit Blackburn are loving life on a 14 game unbeaten run, winning seven of the last 10, whereas Championship strugglers Hull are only out of the relegation zone on goal difference. The Tigers, with just one win in 13, are unlikely to muster much of a challenge this weekend making another defeat inevitable. HOME WIN.

Bolton v Huddersfield - Back in September Bolton seemed dead and buried, but an unexpected upturn in results has propelled the club out of the Championship relegation zone. Three wins in four means they are in good nick ahead of the visit of Huddersfield this weekend. An upset is by no means off the cards considering that the Terriers have lost eight of their last 10 games, although we’re going to sit on the fence for this one. DRAW.

Doncaster v Rochdale - This FA Cup clash pits together two clubs with different ambitions for the League One season. A good run of results means that 11th-placed Doncaster now have hopes of a potential top-6 finish, whereas 23rd-placed Rochdale are struggling to keep their status as a third-tier side. Therefore the obvious pick is Doncaster, unbeaten in five with three wins, to triumph against a Rochdale side short of festive cheer. HOME WIN.

Fulham v Southampton - Southampton manager Mauricio Pellegrino heads into this match under real pressure having gone nine games without a win. He desperately needs a victory to save his skin, but with Saints 17th in the league, he may do a Mark Hughes and opt to rest key men for the trip to Fulham. The rejuvenated Cottages are flying at the moment with three wins in four and we’re backing the hosts to bag the win on Saturday. HOME WIN.

Ipswich v Sheffield United - The FA Cup may come as a welcome distraction to Championship teams Ipswich and Sheffield United whose respective poor form has resulted in both clubs slipping out of the top-6. The main focus is promotion but a win in the cup could give either side that boost they so desperately crave. However, it’s difficult to visualize anything other than a Suffolk stalemate. DRAW.

Charlton v Oldham - Charlton have really fallen down the table in recent weeks, going from major promotion contenders to 9th place after failing to win any of their last six games. Fortunately for Karl Robinson’s men they have a decent chance of returning to winning ways against a similarly out-of-form Oldham, who are winless in five. We’re therefore backing the Addicks to come out tops at The Valley. HOME WIN.

Oxford v Blackpool - Both Oxford and Blackpool head into this League One duel off the back of wins. Oxford recovered from their recent rough patch to claim a 3-1 victory over MK Dons, while Blackpool triumphed away to relegation-threatened Rochdale. However, it’s difficult to split these two, with a draw the most likely outcome. DRAW.

Plymouth v Bury - A transformed Plymouth, 16h, host rock-bottom Bury on Saturday in a match the home side will be expected to triumph in. Derek Adams’ men have recovered from a tricky period to accumulate 14 points from their last six matches, during which they’ve gone unbeaten. In stark contrast struggling Bury have lost their last five in a row, failing to score in each game, and I’m afraid to say that a sixth straight defeat looks inevitable. HOME WIN.

Colchester v Cheltenham - Down in League Two Colchester have their sights set on a top-7 finish, and if results go their way on Saturday they could well leap from 8th to 3rd. The U’s face Cheltenham at home in a match they will be expected to win. The hosts, unbeaten in six, have only lost two of their previous 17 league home games, and they have a great opportunity to bag all three points against a Cheltenham side who have only two wins from 10 matches. HOME WIN.
