I posted this same thing last night in the Phoenix thread before noticing that Stu's website had not been updated since Summer 2006, so this tour "in October" was more than likely referring to October 2006.Revolution in the air wrote:Stu's personal website says:lovethatcountrypie wrote:No Stu,

Shame on you, Ed Masley/Arizona Republic. Stu has been in The NET since 2005, not a single word about his absence?. Shame on you!

But if its not updated, who knows what year in July, he is on a break to

It's all very strange, I suppose it keeps us on our toes but when it comes to the band introductions you'd think the MofC would say a few words if Stu was temporarily on leave or indisposed.

I remember the confusion (in 2013?) with Charlie coming and going with no announcements. Bob isn't one to keep us updated!dvdunplugged wrote:It's all very strange, I suppose it keeps us on our toes but when it comes to the band introductions you'd think the MofC would say a few words if Stu was temporarily on leave or indisposed.

Thrown a wrench in Bill Pagel’s normally quick official set postings too.
Still none posted for Tucson @ Boblinks.
Or coincidentally, Bill may finally be learning how to say
‘Ef it’ and go & get some sleep?
Or, perhaps Dylan, Inc hired Bill, ha ha. It’s there.
They’re putting up lists way quicker than ever before,
usually within a few days or better.
Tucson’s in there now, for instance.

He stopped the practice of even doing
band introductions a while back.
If Stu’s now gone, wonder if he took his noodle?

The Phoenix show from Matt sounds great.
Looks like we’re fine for this Tour.
The boys might need to work it a little bit more,
with less rhythm backsplash, but they can obviously
totally handle it.
They’re pros. Hope they got a bump in pay.

Can someone who’s been to either show tell us how they started? Without the classic noodle, does it just skip right to George hittin’ that bass drum twice, and the boys stroll right out?

Re: Tucson, Arizona – 5 October 2018 - LIVE SET LIST
^No noodle or intro, George walked out and sat down, then the rest walked out to applause, they start with a minor chord splash--similar to how All Along the Watchtower used to start--and into Things Have Changed. It would seem that this may evolve. I've always liked the instrumental noodle.
Silver jacket, black pants, white boots, the wig/dye is brown now without the reddish hue. Outstanding vocals without any significant lyrical flubs. The cell phone security seems less militant this year and enforced only during the show.

With the shows Stu missed being back-to-back & all could still be a minor type illness or a sudden family or otherwise type of matter needed to be attended to ... etc.
With their next performance being the 7th I believe that'll be the most telling if it's a permanent thing or not.
Would be nice if BD.com kept on top of such a thing & at least gave some sorta vague statement on the situation. ... Clearly not holding breath on that ever going down, but would be nice & seemingly easy enough to do.
... I'm looking forward to hearing more of the sound as well with the shortened band (with the 2 already knocked out & possible future ones) .... Also shall be kind of surprised that the setlist & arrangements are so similar to the last tour which had such a great sound not resulting in being changed more with knowing there'd be one less player well enough beforehand. ... Guess I just believe he'll be back with knowing the little we know.
Shall see... sure we'll find out the real score of things soon enough.

Re: Tucson, Arizona – 5 October 2018 - LIVE SET LIST
I'm listening to Phoenix right now and I think it sounds pretty great. A few choppy, feeling out moments to start the tour (naturally) but I really, really like the cleanness of sound with just Charlie and Donnie layering on top of the rhythm and low end provided by Tony and George. Who knows if it's temporary or not, but I don't mind this sound at all.
I could imagine a second guitar player's absence potentially preventing some arrangements they'd previously have been able to pull off with three guitar/string players, but with this setlist, it sounds pretty good to me. Bob sounds great. Looking forward to the East Coast swing down the road.
