Four simple rules when you’re a man on parole:

1. Don’t lust after your best friend’s daughter.
2. Don’t get into a physical fight over her.
3. Definitely don’t f*ck her.
4. And whatever you do, don’t fall in love.

I have a bad habit of breaking rules.

An avid lover of stories from a young age, she enjoys nothing more than to get lost in the pages while the characters dictate what direction she takes. Her favourite genre to write is new adult and the events in her stories may or may not be related to real life experiences (only she will ever know for sure).

In her down time, Max can be found at her local gym brainstorming through a session with the weights. If not, she’s probably out drooling over one of many classic cars on show that she wishes she owned.

Honestly, I left writing this review for a couple of hours as i needed to get my head around the ending.
I LOVE Max but I am on the fence about this book. NOW before I start I need to remind everyone that this is my view on the book and that a 3 star is NOT a bad review. I am giving a 3 and not a 4 star due to one thing that annoyed me to no end. THE ENDING!
Before i explain my reasons why i hated the ending i will say I couldn’t fault the rest of the story. I loved the slow burning love between the very broken Zeus and the lost and confused Bella. It is written in a way that makes it an easy read and not over the top gross like most of these older men, younger woman books.

SPOILERS!!!!!!!!

ZEUS lets her go. Yep, totally get that. The old saying if you love something set it free and all that. What I don’t get and find extremely annoying was the minute she gets onto the plane and leaves, she is suddenly ‘drawn’ to another man. WTH? During the book Bella it is clear that Bella is head over heals in love with Zeus. So this ending to me is balls to the wall.
I absolutely loved the rest of the book and would have giving it a 5 star all the way until the end. If you love someone so much and he broke your heart you wouldnt be getting drawn to another man.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

If you love something set it free, it is so easy to say those words, when in reality it can wreck you totally.

In Desire, Max Henry takes us through an emotional journey that shows us how difficult it is to do that, to give up the one we love, to set them free, to let them grow and follow their dreams, and to have the strength and the believe that they will come back.

Desire is a 5 star read, can't wait for the second part of this story.

5 stars! This book was amazing, it had all the feels! I absolutely could not put it down and read it in one sitting!

Belle is a bit messed up, trying to make her way in the world and learn how to be an adult but she’s also been through so much that it makes her an old soul ...

Zeus... well just wow, hot. And tortured and oh so sweet.

Add in a nightmare of a mother, a clueless father and some terrible friends and you’ve got a story full of emotion and angst and drama. Absolutely loved it and am super impatient for book 2!!!

"I love you too much, and that’s why I have to walk away"

And I can’t not even put into words strong enough about how much I just loved this book, even as my own heart was breaking for Zeus and Belle. Holy Crap On A Cracker – the emotion in Desire is thick enough to chew on. It is sexy, sweet, spicy and oh-so-hard, to put down when life (and work) gets in the way, because lets face it, we have to work to afford books! In my humble view, Max Henry has firmly planted herself amongst the top echelons of those talented authors whose books absolutely HAVE to be read, and I have no qualms in shouting that from the ceilings.

Zeus has to be one of my favourite book heroes to date. He’s made bad decisions, and his wife has let him down in the worst possible way. He is a beautiful and deep feeling man, and, he completely owns the consequences of his actions. Perhaps it’s his maturity that makes him so much MORE of an attractive hero than the usual impetuous young men I love to read about.

Belle is only 18, but she’s been in love with Zeus for years. She called it a crush at first, but as she’s grown, the feelings of attraction have gotten stronger. He’s always been there for her, through thick and thin, her mother’s drunken abandonment, her father’s absences through the sheer amount of hours he works to look after them both, and her bad experience with a guy who took sexual advantage of her. Hell, even I fell in love with Zeus at her description of him, “he’s beautiful. I mean, men can be handsome, gorgeous, even stunning at times. But it’s not often a guy can truly be beautiful in his masculinity. Soft lips, a hard jaw, firm brow, and the most intense eyes I’ve ever known.” *fans oneself*

And here’s the kicker. He’s 17 years older, and her father’s best friend. If Belle were only a couple of years older, and not your daughter, would YOU view their love as forbidden?

Here’s the part where I tell you that Desire is the first book in a duet. Do not let it put you off. You will be sorry. Honestly, I hate waiting for the end of a story with the burning passion of a thousand suns, but, if I refused to read this, I’d kick myself. 5 Stars and a highly anticipated wait for the next book. And, I have to have this in paperback as well – just because.

description
When I started to read Desire by author Max Henry I was ready to put on some porno music, settle back and enjoy a little taboo action with a hot father's best friend older man/barely legal girl story. After just a few short pages I knew I wouldn't be getting the run of the mill slutty story I was hoping for. Instead I was holding something deeper, something better that had me intrigued.

The heroine is Belle, who has had a difficult childhood facing abandonment issues stemming from her mother. I was impressed by how much Belle grew as a character as the story progressed. She knew exactly what she wanted out of life for being so young even if she may not achieve her dreams.

Zeus. The man was so complicated and confused. He had issues from his past that were haunting him but he still was able to reach deep to show Belle the softer side of love and acceptance. The chemistry was strong and hot. You will find some very intense sexual situations that while you may not need the porno music still gets you panting.

This book is so good that you have to put aside any conceptions you have about it and go where the author takes you.

Desire was the first story I read by Max Henry. When I read the blurb I knew I had to read it, however it failed me. My expectations were either too high or this was just nothing special.
I didn't like any of the characters.
I thought the heroine was spoiled, selfish, rude and just overall a bitch.
The hero, he was allright.
The dad, he was a pussy.
The mother, a cold hearted bitch.
So yeah, it didn't surprise me for the heroine to be wishy washy on a daily basis but I hated how she kept the hero strining along.

Desire by Max Henry is the First book in the "Twisted Hearts" series. This is the story of Belle and Zeus.
Belle is a young women of 18 but an old sole for sure. With heavy family issues that have added to her being more mature than most women her age. Zeus is her father's best friend and she has always had a crush on him. Zeus is in his late 30's going through a divorce with a cheating wife and a past trouble past that has include the police.
These two should be together but their growing feelings are hard to say not to.
This book worked to slowly build into their relationship I thought. Overall really liked this book!

This was an absolute beautiful book. In the past, when I have attempted to read older man, with a younger woman books, I never finish them, because the way it is written is just over the top cheese fest on steroids. This book was none of that. It was a slow simmering burn, and normally I hate that, but it worked in this book. I absolutely love these characters, Belle and Zeus. Belle is 18 and has just graduated from high school and Zeus is 35 or 36 and has just got out of prison and recently divorced his unfaithful wife. Zeus is Belle's father's best friend, whom she has had a crush on for pretty much her whole life. Zeus moves in with John and feelings start to come to play between Belle and Zeus, and I really don't want to say to much because I don't want to give anything away and I am really not going to say anything about the ending, because it was super special and I want everyone to experience it organically. This book while it was a slow burn, it did turn up some serious heat. This was a great read, and the pages flowed seamlessly. I enoyed every single chapter. Max Henry definitely left me craving more of Zeus and Belle!!

A wonderful sexy story. Yes, it may be forbidden love but can you really help it when you can’t ignore the feelings.
Belle and Zeus. Not only is there the age difference but also the fact that she is your friends daughter. Recipe for disaster right......
They sure have a battle on their hand. A battle which can’t be won........?!?
An amazing story. Couldn’t put it down. Another 5 star read........

4.5 STARS!!!
Desire was a great read. I absolutely loved Belle and Zeus's story. There will definitely be some characters in this story you come to love and others you hate from the very moment you read about them. Yes, Belle and Zeus had a huge age difference but the chemistry between them was undeniable and the anticipation was EVERYTHING!!! My only complaint would be the ending. I'm not sure if it's because I wasn't ready for the ending or if it was because of the way it ended. This is the first book I've read from this author and not only do I look forward to reading the next book in this duet, I look forward to reading other books this author.

At first glance I thought this was going to be the usual older man younger woman story but I should have trusted that Max would give us something special.

Belle looked up to Zeus when she was younger as her fathers best friend he was always around, it was almost inevitable that she would develop a crush. When he comes back into her life she’s a young woman ready to leave school and make her mark on the world but her attraction hasn’t gone away and it’s returned.

On the surface Zeus is no knight in shining armour, he’s rough around the edges, been in trouble with the law and is going through a divorce. Belle may only be 18 but she’s a mature 18 year old who’s had to deal with a lot of family drama.

I enjoyed the slow burn of the story and the fact they didn’t jump into a sexual relationship straight away. You can feel how tormented Zeus is by his feelings for Belle but the chemistry is hot hot hot. The love between them felt so real I was willing them on.

A beautiful love story and I can’t wait for part two.

I need book 2 now!!!!

Max Henry is constantly growing and expanding as an author and I love it!
Desire is deep, emotional, hot and a little taboo and a seriously amazing read. Belle is a typical 18 year old about to leave school and enter the big bad world. She knows what she wants to do with her life and she knows who she wants to share her life with he but does he feel the same way.....
Zeus is an ex con and about to go through a divorce, his best friend is Belles Dad and Belle has always been special to him. But now she’s grown up she’s becomes more than his best friends daughter and the little girl he use to push on the swing set.....
These two had a close relationship while Belle was growing up but now she’s an adult the chemistry is undeniable and intense. They know it’ll be frowned upon but they can’t not give in to each other.
I’m now eagerly waiting for book 2, I need to know how Belle is, How Zeus is, Have Zeus and John repaired their friendship??? So many questions and I can’t wait to find out!!!

I was captivated by Desire. Max did such a fantastic job capturing all of the elements of a Taboo read.

I felt like I was right there with Belle going through the motions of life. Her life was filled with a terrible Mother, Crappy Friends and stuck desiring the one things she will more than likely never have.

Zeus is Belles dads best friend, he has been a constant in her life up until a couple of years ago. When Zeus renters their life things as well they used to be are about to change. Just how much you’ll have to one Click and see, you won’t be disappointed though I’ll tell you that much.

I couldn’t stop reading this book once I started, it was fantastic. All of the events for such a great Taboo Romance were covered, I’m dying for more.

Congratulations Max, Desire is definitely a recommended read of mine.

I enjoyed this slow burn. Belle has been infatuated with Zeus for awhile. When he comes home from a stint in prison he finds out that his wife has been unfaithful. He goes to live with his best friend who happens to be Belle's father. He realizes Belle has feelings for him and tries to deny his own feelings but he fails. In the end, he decides to let Belle go live her life. I am curious to see what happens. I have so many questions. This was a great book.

A Dad's Best Friend Romance.

Desire is a refreshing take on the Dad's Best Friend, Older man, younger woman, taboo romance. I was pleasantly surprised with the way the story ended.
Throughout the story, there were a few times I wanted to punch a certain character in the face!

This story has highs and lows and is choc full of emotion.

Holy shit!!! Max! Wow, woman. You nailed this book and I cant freakin wait for the second one. I mean.... Damn. This is most definitely starting 2018 off right in the book world! Love love love! This is definitely a taboo read, and will probably make ya think uh oh, why am I loving this right now? But its so worth it. I fell for the characters immediately. Belle and Zeus are smoking.

When Belle decides she wants to do something, this girl doesn't to it half cocked. No, she dives in and hopes for the best. But when you're 18 what do you expect?? She is a very talented girl and I admired her strength to go after what she wants. She wants to tattoo for a living and travel, see the world. Her future is bright and right at her finger tips. But then comes a man. Not a boy.... a MAN! All man!

Zeus is freakin sexy as hell! He's alpha, hot, bossy, naughty, and all sorts of other good things too. He's coming out of a marriage and when he has to stay with a friend, his world gets knocked off kilter a bit. But, he takes it in stride and does his best at getting back on his feet. I loved Zeus!

This book is taboo. There's no way around it. Max created a story I would usually shy away from and made me love it. I couldn't get enough! Now I'm ready to see how the rest of this gig plays out. Because that ending has me like oh snap! Way to go Max! You've started my new year off right!

This was an absolutely amazing read and I have to admit that Belle made tears come to my eyes more than I want to admit.

Belle is caught in that age where you aren’t a child anymore but you aren’t exactly an adult either and you have a lot to learn. But Belle has suffered and already been through so much in her short life that she has an old soul. She spent years abandoned by her mother and her dad has always tried to be there for her but he is overworked and can be a little absent, she has some really awful friends so she has always felt alone. The only person she felt knew her and understood her was Zeus but he disappeared two years ago with no real reason for his absence and now he is back she feels like she’s complete if only he could see her love for what it is. Her heart belongs to him, has since she was a little girl and Bella can’t see that ever changing.

Zeus, oh my where do you start with Zeus. This man is a tortured soul and one of my favourite book heroes for a long time. He’s not always made the right decisions and its left him with a criminal record and his now ex-wife betrayed him and let him down in the worst way you could think of by cheating on him with his boss. He doesn’t run from his past mistakes and I think that’s one of the things that you cannot help but love about him. Hess back where he started and living with his best friend from childhood John when he realises how much Bella really means to him but how can he act on these feelings when she’s his best friends daughter and they have a 17 year age gap… She has so much to see in and experience in life.

This is the first part of a duet and believe me when I say this is worth reading so please give it a try. Let’s see if the saying if you love someone set them free is the right thing to do and if these two can show the world and their disapproving eyes that they are meant to be together.

Let me start by saying I am a new to Max Henry’s work, and I won an ARC giveaway of Desire. I am so glad I did.

This book absolutely wrecked me in the best way. My emotions were all over the place, feeling everything that Belle felt.

It’s a forbidden love that everyone on the outside can’t begin to understand. A childhood crush turned to love at some point over the years. Belle was abandoned by her mother, left with only her father and his best friend, Zeus, to turn to. She always felt safe with Zeus around, and then one day he is gone. Belle is 18 and almost done with school, so she and friend Kate throw caution to the wind and skip a final exam and take off to Belle’s house. Her dad isn’t home, so she didn’t think anything of being caught. And then in walks Zeus like he owns the place. And all the feelings she has felt for him over the years bubble at the surface, threatening to boil over.

Zeus just spent 2 years behind bars for assault. But even being gone for so long he stayed true to his wife, even though their marriage had been over long before. So when he gets out and discovers Jodie slept with some guy named Eric, he is furious and hurt. He ends up going to stay with his long time friend John, and his daughter. Imagine his surprise when he walks in expecting the house to be empty, and finds Belle, all grown up, and her friend. He takes notice of the young woman Belle has become, scolds himself for noticing and then sends her on her way.

Sparks fly every time they are near each other, both doing their best to ignore it. And failing miserably. Then a deadbeat from their past shows up and wrecks everything, for no other reason than to get back at Belle for something that was completely out of her control.

Desire is frustrating in more ways than one. Hot and heavy one minute, then giving you a cold shoulder because it’s so wrong, but so right. Throw caution to the wind and pick up this book! Once you do I promise you won’t put it down, and you won’t be disappointed.

Don't let the blurb for this book fool you, this is not a sordid taboo story of forbidden love, it is in fact a richly crafted, beautiful love story that will tear your heart out and leave you hanging and impatient for the next installment.

Max Henry has the ability with her writing to put you right in the room with her characters, you hear their voices, see their expressions and feel their pain, at least that is the case for me, and with Desire she secures them in your heart as well.
She truly is a master at character development, building their complexities in tune with the story, they are raw, realistic and believable, you can't help but be invested in their lives and root for their love, celebrate their victories and cry buckets over their sacrifices.

I'm madly in love with this couple. I could really relate to Belle and Zeus's connection in this story, having been a relationship with a man who was 20 years my senior.
More than the physical attraction, there was a much stronger coupling of minds and love on a soul deep level.
"Because you were the only one I saw. The only one who saw me, too."
Their relationship developed over many years. Their mutual love and support initially innocent and platonic, morphing into the physical on Zeus's return from prison and Belle's coming of age.

Belle has a grounded strength about her, despite her age, that belies her experiences that I so admired and Zeus despite his hardened background and alpha protectiveness, also has an innate tenderness and fragility that is absolutely swoon worthy.

You want this to work for them, and as the pressure to reveal their love builds, the angst and tension is so palpable it drips off the page.
But as the saying goes "Nothing worthwhile is ever easy" and Max is going to make us work for this HEA it seems.
I cannot wait for book #2 of this Duet, and this was absolutely a 5 star read for me.
